Harlow Sutherland is the top female swimmer on the collegiate team at Everson University. Excited for senior year and her last season, she decides that despite her desire to keep to herself, she's going to go with her best friend to a party before classes start. however, everything falls apart when she has an accident that night, not only leaving her injured and unable to swim, but also the topic of all gossip on campus.

Banished to the rec center for her recovery practices, Harlow forms an unexpected alliance with head lifeguard, Shep Fords. He can't seem to leave her alone and at first, she wants nothing to do with him, but over time, she realizes he might be the only one who can truly help her heal, both physically and emotionally.
