Chapter 15

Blaine

Are you supposed to feel needy after your heat?

Blaine's finger hovered over the send button. Maybe this was not a good idea. Asking Holi about what was happening to him was a sure way to tell the omega that he and Professor Douche had had sex. Something Blaine swore he would never do.

He could already hear Holi's mocking laughter.

But fuck, he needed to know. His body felt like a smouldering ember in a fire pit. He was fucking burning up. His hole was tender and wet, and his skin was so sensitive, the slightest touch made him moan like a bitch.

Fuck it, he thought pressing the button.

Let the mocking begin.

Blaine moved around the bathing bot, waiting for Holi to answer him. He should be taking a bath. That had been his excuse when he'd untangled himself from Wayden a few minutes ago. Four days of non-stop fucking and he still wanted more. A moan slipped out of Blaine's mouth as heat cascaded down his spine. He slapped a hand to his mouth and turned to the door.

Fuck. He needed to chill, or Wayden might hear him.

Blaine's connector went off, making him jump. He picked it up and completed the connection.

"I sent you a message and you connect with me?" Blaine hissed. "Take a hint."

"I knew you were going to fuck him!" Holi laughed.

"Dammit, Holi."

"Fine." The connector went silent and soon enough Holi's message appeared:

I knew you were going to fuck him!

Blaine rolled his eyes, hating Holi just a little. He was in crisis here.

I was in heat. I didn't exactly have a choice.

What do you mean you were in heat? You never go into heat. What happened?

Someone drank all my tea!

What?????

Blaine could literally hear the horror in Holi's voice.

You gave it to me.

I did. I should have asked my mom for more, but I forgot. And then I drank the last of it, but it didn't help. I went into heat anyway.

What do you mean? Why didn't it work?

I don't know. I'm still confused about that. It's like my body went crazy.

I told you, didn't I? It's not normal. You can't stop your heat forever. How was it? I'm dying to know how it went. Was it good?

Blaine stared at the message, getting irritable all over again, not at Holi but at himself. He should have been more careful and maybe he shouldn't have taunted Holi when he was struggling with Xaine, because that shit wasn't fun when it happens to you. And he wasn't having fun right then. He needed a solution for his problem. Blaine bit into his bottom lip as another wave of need hit him.

Shit.

Answer me first. Is it supposed to feel like that?

Blaine, what happened? Didn't you like it?

It wasn't that he didn't like it. He loved it, in fact. He was just… Blaine closed his eyes because he couldn't bring himself to say what he wanted from Wayden. Maybe he should just ignore how he felt. He'd had his heat. Now it was over.

Never mind. It doesn't matter. It's over anyway. I'll ask my mom for more tea, and everything will be fine.

Blaine?

I have to go. I'll talk to you later.

Blaine placed his connector on the floor and turned on the bathing bot. The connector went off a few minutes later, but he ignored it. He got into the bot and just sat there, willing his body to calm down.

It will go away, he told himself.

Hours later, it hadn't. In fact, it felt like it was getting worse. Blaine held the cup of warmed spirit close to his chest, trying his best not to look in Wayden's direction. They were gathered outside around a bonfire waiting for Green's cub to be born. Apparently, it was the pack's tradition to throw a party while they waited for their new member to be born. They didn't care that there was a cold breeze in the air, or that they were surrounded by snow. They were happy to welcome the cub into the world.

"Are you okay?" Owen asked, as he handed him a plate packed full of meat.

"I'm fine," Blaine said, taking a sip of the spirit. He scrunched his face, not really liking the taste of it, but it would do. He didn't want to be sober or be there. But he couldn't ask Wayden if he could leave. Even if Wayden agreed that Blaine could leave, where would he go?

"Are you sure? You don't look like someone whose just had his heat. And not only that. You spent your heat with that," Owen said pointing at Wayden. "He's fucking hot. I'm sure you're not going to forget your time with him any time soon."

Nope, not any time soon. He was going to remember his first time for the rest of his life, because that was the last time he was going to let an alpha touch him.

Not again, Blaine thought, drinking down the spirit. He got to his feet and handed Owen the plate of food.

"Where are you going?" Owen asked.

"I need more spirit," Blaine said, walking away. He made his way to the other side of the fire where they had a mini cooking station set up. Blaine helped himself to another glass of spirit, drank it down and then poured himself another.

How many glasses of the foul spirit would he have to drink for him to get drunk? he asked himself as he finished the glass. He turned to pour himself another, but Wayden appeared out of nowhere and gripped his arm. Blaine snatched it away. And poured himself another glass.

"Hey, slow down," Wayden said. "This is not those fancy spirits they have in the capital. It's going to hit you hard."

Blaine silently growled. He wanted to tell Wayden to get lost. He knew what he was fucking doing. "Thanks for the advice, Professor," Blaine said instead, and walked around him. Wayden grasped his arm and pulled him back. "What?" Blaine snapped.

"Hey," Wayden growled back. He dragged him closer… too close. Blaine could smell the alpha's enticing scent. It thickened all around him, making Blaine dizzy. "I might not be your alpha, but you're not going to talk to me like that." For a second, Wayden's voice went dark, and his fingers tightened on Blaine's arm.

Fuck. The alpha was so close yet so far away. Blaine swallowed, taking a step back. He didn't want to argue with Wayden, not when he was feeling like… like he would snap any minute. Or do something he would regret. Like kiss him. Blaine's eyes fell on Wayden's lips. Tingles ran up and down Blaine's spine.

This won't do, Blaine thought, taking a sip of his drink. How was he going to share a bed with the alpha now?

"Blaine, are you okay?" Wayden tried to reach for him again.

"I'm sorry. It won't happen again," he said, walking away. He returned to where Owen was and continued to drink. By the time the cub was born, Blaine could barely stand straight. The fucking world was spinning.

"Stand straight, they're presenting the cub to the pack," Owen said, wrapping an arm around Blaine's shoulders to keep him from falling. Green and his alpha walked to the middle of the pack. Their cub was wrapped in the blanket the omegas made. It was beautiful – all fluffy and thick.

"Oh… that's beatipull," Blaine said unintelligibly.

Owen laughed. "What? You're sloshed. How much did you drink?"

Blaine lifted his fingers to count, but his fingers didn't work. He shook out his arms, but that only made him sway in place.

"Whoa… maybe we shouldn't make sudden movements. You're going to fall."

"What… yees… right. You'rrree light," Blaine said, folding his arms around his chest. And tried to focus on what was happening in front of them. It was really beautiful. Both alpha and omega seemed over the moon to have their cub meet their pack. They were so happy. Blaine stared at them, feeling weird inside.

Damn, this was killing his buzz.

"I can't wait to have a cub of my own, to stand in front of everyone to present him or her. Green must be so proud," Owen said wistfully. Tears prickled Blaine's eyes and he didn't even know why.

Fuck. Maybe he was too drunk for this mushy stuff. He was about to fucking cry. He never cried. Ever.

"Owen, I'm going to…"

"What? No. Let me find your alpha. The paths are slippery."

"Professor Douche? I don't need him," Blaine said irritably. He turned to leave… in his mind he was going to walk up the path like a normal person, but then his legs refused to follow the rest of his body, and he was… falling.

"Oh," Blaine exclaimed as arms came around him. He looked up to stare into Wayden's concerned eyes. Blaine felt all tingly inside. The arousal he'd fought all day came back with a vengeance.

Fuck. Why was he everywhere? Blaine took a step away from Wayden. And tried his best to walk up the path to the shuttle. On his drunk legs, it wasn't easy.

"Easy," Wayden said behind him. Blaine looked over his shoulder at the alpha, and almost lost his balance. "Dammit, Blaine."

"What?"

"You're…" Wayden trailed off impatiently, and then picked him up.

"What are you doing?" Blaine asked, sobering quickly. "You're killing my buzz. And it wasn't easy to get myself drunk on that vile stuff they call a spirit."

"I'm saving you from yourself. You're already a pain in the ass. I don't want to find out what you'll turn into if you got hurt because you're not being careful," Wayden growled and then walked up the path to the shuttle with Blaine in his arms. Blaine swallowed the very bad words crowding his mind, even though he wanted to curse Wayden out. But he could tell that it wasn't going to end well. The last time he'd challenged the alpha he'd bitten him. Just thinking about it made him feel gooey inside. Blaine bit the inside of his mouth as he grew hard and wet.

Fuck. He hated this.

"Professor Douche, huh?"

Fuck, he'd heard that. Blaine stared off into the distance, embarrassed, but he wasn't going to let Wayden have the last word. "You refused to tell me your name. I didn't know what to call you."

"I told you my name," Wayden groused.

"You did. But I'm not in the habit of calling people by their last names," Blaine said.

"Right."

Blaine glanced at Wayden, and then quickly looked away when he found him staring at him. Blaine pulled air into his lungs and tried to ignore the wriggly creature in his stomach. He was glad when they came to a stop in front of the shuttle. He wiggled in Wayden's arms until he put him down. Blaine rushed into the shuttle and headed straight for the washroom. He closed himself in there. A few minutes later, he realised he couldn't stay in there forever. He had to go to bed… with Wayden or sleep in the washroom.

"Fuck… fuck… Fuuuuck!" Blaine stomped around angrily. But his body chose that moment to remember how much alcohol he'd consumed. Blaine tripped and slammed into the wall hard enough to shake the whole shuttle.

Shit… shit… the embarrassment continues.

"Blaine? Are you alright in there? Open the door." Wayden rattled the door handle. "Blaine?"

"I'm fine. I'll be out in a minute." Blaine mumbled. He rubbed his forehead, irritated with himself and the whole planet. If he hadn't gone into heat he wouldn't be in this mess.

Never again, Blaine told himself. He turned to the basin, brushed his teeth and splashed warm water on his face. A few minutes later, he walked out of the washroom. And to his relief, Wayden wasn't there. Blaine changed into his sleeping clothes and got into bed. He closed his eyes, praying to pass out. But as soon as he got under the covers his body lit up like a bonfire. Whoosh, just like that he was burning up. It didn't help that the bed smelled like sex and them together – a clear reminder of what they'd done in that bed.

Hmmm, Blaine whined just as the door opened. Blaine clamped his mouth shut and turned to face the wall. The bed dipped as Wayden lay down. Blaine held his breath, body buzzing with something akin to anticipation.

Agg, he really hated this.

Blaine closed his eyes, pretending to be asleep.

"Blaine? What's going on?" Wayden asked.

"Nothing."

The bed dipped again, and then… Blaine's eyes bulged out when Wayden wrapped an arm around him and pulled him against his chest.

Fucking hell. Was Professor Douche the master of torture? Blaine asked himself, swallowing a moan.

"Tell me."

"There's nothing to tell," Blaine said. He held himself still, not giving in to the desire to lean into Wayden, even though he wanted to, badly. But Wayden didn't seem to have that problem. He tightened his arm around Blaine and leaned his forehead on Blaine's back.

Fuck. Blaine shivered. Unable to help himself.

"I've been going crazy all day trying to figure out what's wrong." Wayden sighed. "You didn't like being with me. Is that it?"

What?

"I shouldn't have pushed. I should have let you have the alpha you wanted," Wayden said. His arm tightened possessively around Blaine, belying his words. "I'm sorry. I know I can't take it back, or make your first time with an alpha perfect but…."

"You didn't push me into anything," Blaine said. He swallowed, his next words choking him. Fuck. He couldn't believe he was saying this. "I wanted you. I want you. Even after my heat, I still want you."

Wayden jerked against Blaine.

Blaine tensed.

Was that too honest? Blaine shut his eyes, embarrassed. He opened his mouth to speak, but Wayden pulled him on to his back. The alpha hovered above him, his eyes blazing with an emotion Blaine had never seen before. A sensual tension thrummed between them. Blaine clutched the sheets to keep himself from reaching for Wayden. Blaine was fucking burning.

"What happened, then? You're clearly angry about something."

Fuck. Why did he feel all vulnerable inside? This was about sex. He shouldn't feel ashamed or embarrassed for wanting what he wanted.

"I…" Blaine said.

Wayden leaned closer, as if he couldn't hear him. Blaine stared at him, his eyes dropping to the alpha's lips. They were gorgeous and Wayden kissed like sin. Blaine lifted his hand to smooth his fingers over the soft skin of Wayden's bottom lip. He wanted to kiss him again. "I want your knot. Even though my heat is over I still… I feel tender and needy down there. It's like I'm still in heat, but I'm not."

Wayden stared at him, stunned.

Time ticked by and he said nothing.

Blaine squirmed, embarrassed. But he shoved the feeling away. He wasn't going to let anyone make him feel that way, even if it was Wayden – the first and only alpha he'd ever liked.

Blaine blushed. This was a weird time to admit to himself that he liked the alpha.

"Don't look at me like that. You asked me to tell you," Blaine said defensively.

Wayden dropped his head on Blaine's pillow and groaned. The sound reverberated through Blaine, making Wayden's bite mark tingle.

"I shouldn't have knotted you," Wayden mumbled.

Wayden's words hit Blaine hard, causing tears to fill Blaine's eyes. Blaine blinked them away. He wasn't going to cry over this shit.

Blaine sniffed as the tears took a detour and trickled out of his nose. Fucking hell. Blaine wiped them away roughly and looked at the shuttle's wall. He wished Wayden would get off him.

He hated that he fucking cared. That he'd wanted Wayden to want to knot him. That he still wanted him to knot him. The whole thing was crazy. And he felt stupid for feeling the way he did.

"I shouldn't have gone into heat, and I shouldn't have had sex in the first place. I shouldn't have done many things, but here we are. Get off," Blaine snapped, and tried to shove Wayden off him. But the big brute wouldn't budge.

"Hey!" Wayden said. He lifted his head and stared down at Blaine, irritation clear on his face. Sometimes, Blaine wondered if Wayden was truly a non-aggressive alpha. He was so sensitive, possessive and a little deranged when it came to being challenged. Not that any alpha liked to be challenged, but Wayden took it to a new level.

"What?" Blaine asked, the need to challenge Professor Douche further bubbling in his stomach. Blaine fucking wanted to push Professor Douche. A weird thrill tingled over Blaine's skin. And he couldn't wait to see what Wayden would do. "Are you going to sleep on top of me all night long?" Blaine asked.

Wayden gave him a weird look before he dropped down next to him.

Fuck, now he chooses to comply. Blaine turned away and closed his eyes.

"Blaine, I…"

"Goodnight, Wayden," Blaine growled. He closed his eyes and prayed for fucking sleep. They lay there in tense silence, sleep nowhere in sight. Blaine breathed out a sigh of relief when Wayden got up and left the room. The old him would have considered that a fucking win. But it wasn't. He was fucking losing his own game. Maybe he'd lost the moment he challenged the alpha.

Now, he was regretting opening his mouth that night at Xaine Covus' house.

I should have kept my mouth shut, Blaine thought.
