I wake up to the sound of Kat crying in the bathroom, but at least she's up and making an effort to take care of herself. I know it hasn't truly set in for her though. When it does, I just hope she'll let Alessandro in.

I climb out of bed and make my way to my room, grabbing my phone off the nightstand, and as I swipe to my texts, my heart sinks as I see one name on my screen with three simple words that break my heart in two and send me into overdrive.

Kas

I need you.

Some people would think what I'm about to do is fucked up, but given the choice between Kas and Kat, I seem to choose Kas more often than not. Kat has people who love her and want to protect her and help her dig herself out of her thoughts when they're too much to bear. And while Kas has people who love him too, he's lacking in the trust department. As in, he doesn't trust anyone. Anyone but me, that is. It's a simple fact I've never gotten over and not something I take lightly. I'm not even sure he'd trust Kat with this because he's so damn worried about keeping her sheltered from his raw and sometimes overpowering emotions that he doesn't let her take care of him.

So, without hesitation, I choose him.

I'm on my way.
