Chapter Ten

Jensen

S chool is done for the day, and everyone has been talking all day about the fight. I'd be worried that someone would let something slip to the wrong person or that the teachers would overhear, but honestly, we've been doing this for long enough now that everyone knows to code what they say. So we don't need to worry about the Pit being exposed.

Which is a good fucking job because I need this fight. It's not that I want to, although I do, but it's like an actual need to fight this shit out of me. I always get like it when emotional shit happens, or anywhere near any dates to do with Ever, like her birthday or the day she left.

"Hey guys," Trev calls out as he jogs up to us in the parking lot outside of school.

"Hey, Trev, everything okay?" Trick asks.

He nods, "Yeah, all good. I just wanted to let you know that I'm going to keep my books open for a bit longer tonight; the bets are still coming in thick and fast; they've normally slowed by now as we're so close to the fight."

Cash smiles, "Sounds good to me. Keep them open right up until the fight starts if you want?"

"Yeah, I might do that," Trev replies thoughtfully.

I always find it amusing that he calls it the books when he takes bets, when in reality, he's just remembering everything. I don't know what the word for it is, but he's got an amazing memory. It's like genius level or some shit.

"Thanks for letting us know, man," Trick replies.

"No problem," Trev smiles and then adds, "people are getting pretty fucking excited about it so I'm going to head over to the new area early just in case anyone wants to place a late bet, I think I'll do as you suggested and keep the bets open until the fight between Jensen and Ryan starts. It's that one that people are mostly betting on."

I smirk, he loves this; it's a completely different way to use his brain than the academic and school way that he usually uses it.

"No problem, we'll be heading over early too, so we'll check in when we get there." Trick tells him.

Trev nods and then walks away, two kids stopping him to place bets before he can get very far.

"Come on, let's head to the yard to get the cars," Rafe signs.

"Food first," I practically beg.

Trick chuckles, "Of course, we can't have you fighting on an empty stomach."

"I don't think it would make any difference to how well he fights," Luc comments with a grin as we all get into the truck.

"Nah, but it might make him more deadly. We all know what Jensen is like when he's hangry." Riot jokes.

I stick my middle finger up at him but can't stop myself from smiling, especially since he's probably right.

A couple of hours later, we're pulling into the yard where we keep our spare cars. No one can trace these back to us, and we were even careful enough not to buy them in our town or even the towns closest to us. We use these cars for everything to do with the Pit, and if we have a job that means that we can't take the usual vehicles.

Our jobs tend to mean that we shouldn't take our usual cars anywhere near them; they aren't strictly legal, and the last thing we want to do is to get anything we do on one of our jobs linked back to us. It goes without saying, but that would be really fucking bad.

"Alright, we're going to do the usual setup," Trick says, "Cash and I will drive the cars, if we end up needing to split up for whatever reason, then I want us to be on the phone the entire time in case we need to coordinate and use the back roads, and the road through the woods to escape whatever is following us. Use the road through the woods as a last resort. We don't want anyone else knowing about that if we can help it."

I snort, "Come on, we both know that it's most likely going to be the cops that will be chasing us. When was the last time we got followed by anyone else."

Trick smirks, "Fair point, but I like to cover all our bases, you know that."

I nod, but carry on smiling.

"I don't think it was a good idea to start the Pit back up again," Rafe starts signing, seemingly out of the blue, but it's most likely something he's had on his mind for a while.

I have to admit that I've thought the same thing. I think we all have.

"I've been thinking that the last day or so, but honestly, it's too late now, and everyone is so on edge that it was either this, or we break up unsanctioned fights all week." Trick replies.

"Yeah, it makes sense, but I've just got this feeling that it's not going to run as smoothly as it normally does," Rafe signs with a frown.

"We'll just be extra vigilant and keep a closer eye on things." Cash suggests.

"We've got some of our best guys on crowd control, and they're all on high alert," Luc adds.

Rafe nods, but he still looks slightly worried.

"Let's just enjoy it and hope nothing is going to go too wrong," Riot suggests.

I smirk, "Let's do this."

Cash

T he first fight starts in an hour or so, which means everyone here is getting shit ready and making sure that our guys know what the plan is. We normally wouldn't have to talk to them about any of this since we're all so used to running the Pit now, but since this is the first one since we got caught, and it's in a different area, there's a whole host of different things that we need to be concerned about.

All of our guys know to keep a lookout in the crowds for any trouble and stop it before it starts. Anyone caught fighting or trying to start shit is to leave immediately, and if they refuse, then someone needs to get us or Billy so that we can ensure that they leave.

"Understood?" I ask, making sure that the guys know one hundred percent what we need them to do.

"Got it," they reply.

"All of the music, and beer is on the back of trucks so that they can leave quickly, the fires are set up, and the ring is marked," Trick says as he comes to stand next to me. "Let's do this."

Excitement thrums through me, we're good at this.

**********

The party is in full swing, the first fight is already underway, and the guys and I are sitting around our own fire, having a beer, and keeping an eye on things. We're all acutely aware that trouble could start at any moment, and whereas we'd usually let it run its course, we can't really do that now. Not if we want to keep the Pit going.

I raise my eyebrows as a blond that I vaguely recognize struts up to Trick and sits on his lap. His own eyebrows rise in question before he untangles himself from her and stands up, effectively dislodging her from his lap.

"I don't know what you think is happening here, but I was clear that it was a one time deal," Trick tells her, sipping his beer and looking bored as hell with the situation as he stares down at her.

Usually, the blatant dismissal is enough for us to discourage the girls, then they leave and tell all their friends we're dicks, which doesn't seem to discourage any of them from wanting to fuck us. We're all very honest about what we want, and that it's going nowhere, and won't be for any longer than one night. This one though, I can tell is going to be trouble and I try to hide my smirk, as Trick deals with her.

She pouts as she moves forward, putting her hand on his chest and stroking as she moves closer. Trick takes her hand and makes her eyes light up for a second before she realizes that he's simply moving it off him and then unceremoniously just lets it go.

She smiles, seemingly undeterred, as she says, "I thought we had something special."

Trick sits back down so that she can't touch him again and says bluntly, "We fucked."

Her smile falters for a split second before she pulls a face that I'm sure she thinks is seductive, but really makes her look constipated. Jensen sniggers, and she shoots him a glare.

"Trick, baby, why don't we get out of here? I can give you a repeat of the amazing night we had together."

Tricks sighs heavily, "It was okay, not amazing and had I known you were crazy I wouldn't have fucked you in the first place." She stands there gaping like a fish as she finally begins to get it; just to make sure though, Trick adds, "Besides, everyone knows that I don't fuck someone more than once."

"Three, two," Rafe starts signing and then tries to hold back his laughter as he gets to one and she practically explodes.
