3. Oh No

Artemis’s POV

I woke up and Midnight’s tail was in my face.

I groaned and sat up. She just shook her head and went back to sleep.

I got up and did my bathroom routine.

I came out and put on my black army pant, black combat boots, leather jacket with a hood, and my leather gloves.

I also put my long black hair in a side braid, that fell out of my hood and on my chest.

It may seem uncomfortable but it’s not that bad.

I loaded my quiver with arrows and tied my holsters to my waist and my right thigh.

I put my dagger on my thigh holsters, and my staff on my waist holsters. I also sprayed half a bottle perfume on me to mask my scent.

I filled up Midnight’s food and water bowl.

Before leaving I put on my mask and pulled my hood over my head.

I started running South.

Once I was deep enough in the woods I started to climb the trees.

I saw three male rogues in a clearing up ahead.

I stood in a tree next to them as they talked about something.

“So it’s settled. We attack the Midnight Fire Pack. Let’s start heading back to tell the Rogue King.” A blond one said.

Before they even took one step I shot the blond haired one in his heart with an arrow

The other rogues looked in my direction as I hoped down from the tree and landed on my feet.

They growled in disgust at the sight of me.

I grabbed another arrow and pulled back on the string of my bow.

“Don’t move, or I’ll put an arrow through your eye.” I threatened.

“Robin Hood.” The black haired one smirked. “There was a lot of rumors about your arrival.”

What!? How did they know I was coming!?

“How did you-” the red haired rogue cut me off.

“Know? Let’s just say someone knows you.” He smirked.

Now I was mad. “Then you die.”

I shot the arrow through his chest.

The last one looked at me in fear and tried to run, before I put an arrow through his eye.

“I warned you.” I smirked at the corpse.

I heard growling coming from behind me.

I grabbed an arrow and pulled the string back but kept it in place as I turned around.

It was a dark brown wolf with black ears.

That’s Alpha Blake.

Uh oh.

I guess I got too close to his territory.

I calmed down my breathing and heart beat to show him I wasn’t afraid.

“Alpha Blake. Shift!” I commanded.

He looked surprised that I knew who he was. He went behind a tree and came out wearing only jeans.

Must.

Not.

Look.

At.

Chest.

“Princess, I suggest you turn yourself over to me, and I promise you a quick and easy death.” He suggested.

“I am anything but a princess, and I don’t go down that easily. I think those skinny jeans are cutting of circulation to your brain.” I replied.

“Then I’ll make your death slow and painful.” He growled.

He lunged at me, but I dodged him at the last second.

I pulled the string on my bow back and let go.

The arrow pierced straight through his hand.

He groaned in agony.

“I can easily kill you right now, but I will spare your life because you’re an Alpha.” I said.

He gripped the arrow and pulled it out of his hand as he groaned again.

He looked at me with anger. “That’s a pretty little coin you got there.”

I looked down at it.

Oops.

I put it inside my jacket. Guess it fell out.

“Don’t even think about getting it.” I grabbed another arrow and pulled the string back.

“So it’s special to you.” He confirmed.

I just stood there emotionless.

He growled again and tackled me to the ground.

I released the arrow but it hit a tree.

He put his hands on my neck.

Before he could snap my neck I kicked him in his ‘manhood.’

He groaned and rolled off me, cupping his area.

I got up and shot his leg.

“Don’t even think about following me or I’ll kill you on the spot.” I threatened before I left my mark on the rogues then leaving.

I ran in circles a couple times to make sure I wasn’t being followed. I wasn’t.

I made my way back home.

As soon as I was home I went to my bedroom.

Midnight was laying on the bed next to a pile of clothes.

She heard me and looked in my direction.

“Did you pick out an outfit for me?” I ask her.

She barked once.

I took the pile of clothes and changes in the bathroom.

Midnight has good taste.

It was black skinny jeans with a white top and a leather jacket.

I don’t even know how she got these from my closet.

I came out and Midnight had one of my black and white converse in her mouth along with my fake glasses next to it.

I took them from her and slid on my shoes and glasses as I undid my braid as let my, now wavy, hair flow.

“Thanks Midnight.” I patted her head.

I looked down at my neck to glance at my gold coin but it was gone.

I panicked.

That asshole of an alpha must have unhooked it when he had his hands around my neck.

It must have fallen on the floor as I kicked him.

I’ve got to find him.

“Bye Midnight. I’ll be back in a little bit.”

She barked four times before I left.

I grabbed my keys and wallet and hoped in my truck.

I kept driving until I was in town.

There was a lot of shops and diners.

How the hell am I suppose to find him in this place!?

It’s huge!

Then, by sheer coincidence, I saw him and his beta and Third in Command along with two girls in a booth through a diner window.

What are the chances!?

Apparently pretty high.

I parked my truck in the parking lot next to the diner and made my way inside.

A waitress came up to me. “Hi honey. You can take a seat anywhere an I’ll take your order in a bit.” She had a bit of a southern accent.

I took a seat in the booth behind the one that Alpha Blake and his buddies were sitting at.

His eyes never left me ever since I entered the diner.

The waitress came to my booth and handed me a menu.

“What can I get you, darling?” She asked

I skimmed through the menu. “I’ll take, the country fried stake with mash potatoes and gravy.”

I know I didn’t come here to eat, but I’m starving.

She took the menu from me as she wrote down my order. “I’ll have it ready for you in a bit.” She smiled.

“Thank you.” I thanked as she left.

I pulled out my phone to try and distract myself from Alpha Blake’s gaze on me.

Out of the corner of my eye I saw him get up and sit across from me.

I looked up and saw him smiling.

“Can I help you?” I asked.

“I’ve never seen you here before. Are you new?” He asks.

“Yeah. I just moved in a week ago.” I lied.

I can’t let anyone suspect that as soon as Robin Hood arrives, I arrive.

“Cool. Where do you live?” He asks.

“In the woods. I’ve heard there are a lot of wild dogs around here though. It’s a bit scary.” I lied.

Rogues don’t scare me.

“Don’t be. The woods are actually a nice place to live in. I live with my family in the woods. I’m Blake Lockheart by the way.” He held out his hand.

“Artemis King.”

I shook his hand. A wave of electricity shot up my arm. In a good way.

Oh no.

I’m not his mate, am I?

I hope not. That would be really awkward.

I to a look at his neck and he had my gold coin around his neck.

That made my blood boil but I kept calm.

“That’s a nice gold coin.” I fake complimented.

He looked down at the coin then back at me. “Thanks, but it’s not mine.”

Damn right it’s not.

“Then who’s is it?” I ask.

“A friend of mine. We were walking and she dropped it when we parted ways. I found it, but I kept it with me so I wouldn’t lose it. I have to give it back though.” He lied.

That’s right! You better give it back!

The waitress came back with a plate of food and set it in front of me.

Yay! Food!

“Thank you.” I started to dig in into my food.

I moaned in delight. Who knew diner food can be this good!?

Blake looked at me. His eyes turned black for a split second.

“Anyway I should go. I have to get back to my family. I hope I see you again Artemis. Can I have your number to keep in touch?” He asked nervous.

“Yeah sure.” I wrote my number on a napkin and handed it to him.

He winked at me before leaving with his friends.

God. He’s such a flirt.
