4. Mate

Alpha Blake’s POV

‘Can we go out for a run? Please. Doing paper work is so boring.’ My wolf Gavin kept complaining.

‘We have to do this. It’s our job as alpha.’ I pointed out.

‘Still. We can go and be back in 30 minutes. I’m so bored.’ He tried reasoning.

‘Alright fine. Just let me finish this last page and then we’ll go.’ I gave in.

‘Ha. I always win.’ He smirked.

After I finished the last page I made my way outside.

I went behind a tree and took off my clothes.

I started to hear the sound of cracking bones.

Some people think it hurts but I find it satisfying.

I was soon on four paw instead of two legs.

My wolf is dark brown with black ears.

I put my clothes in my mouth and starts running.

I let Gavin take control. There was a big rock up ahead. Gavin hopped on the rock and leaped off it.

We tripped and almost fell on our face.

‘Nice going genus. You’re going to mess up my face.’ I yelled at Gavin.

‘Fine. You take back control.’ He gave me control.

We were behind a bush next to a clearing.

There was three guys in the middle of the clearing.

I sniffed the air. Rogues.

I mentally growled and listened to their conversation.

They were taking about a pack. My pack.

“So it’s settled. We attack the Midnight Fire Pack. Let’s start heading back to tell the rogue king.” A blond one said.

Before they took one step an arrow went straight through the blond one’s heart.

A hunter!

Cue another mental growl from me.

I hate hunters.

The rogues looked in the direction from where the arrow came from.

The hunter jumped down and landed on her feet.

Wait? Her!?

I’ve never seen a female hunter before.

Wouldn’t that make her a ‘Huntress?’

The rogues growled in disgust at her.

She had a black mask, army pant, combat boots, leather jacket, leather gloves, and a hood over her head.

She had black hair in a side braid and green eyes.

There was a faint scent on her. It was cinnamon and vanilla.

Either she’s my mate, or someone’s making cinnamon rolls nearby.

I’m going with the cinnamon rolls one.

She grabbed an arrow from her quiver and pulled the string back.

“Don’t move, or I’ll put an arrow in your eye.” She threatened.

My wolf purred at the sight of her.

‘What the heck Gavin. Do you have a crush on her!?’ I asked him.

‘It’s not me it’s you. I know your thinking dirty thoughts.’ He smirked.

I rolled my eyes at him and turned my attention back to the huntress.

“Robin Hood.” A black haired one smirked. “There were a lot of rumors about your arrival.”

Robin Hood? I’ve heard some rumors about her but I always thought it was a guy.

“How did you-” she started but a ginger cut her off.

“Know? Let’s just say someone knows about you.” He smirked.

She looked mad now.

“Then you die.” She let go of the string on her bow and sent the arrow through his chest.

The last rogue looked at her in complete fear. He ran backwards but, I guess Robin Hood, shot an arrow through his eye.

“I warned you.” She smirked at the corpse.

Ok, that’s it!

If it’s one thing I hate, is cocky people.

‘Then you must really hate yourself.’ Gavin said.

‘Shut up.’

I growled at the huntress in front of me and walked in front of her.

She grabbed an arrow and pull the string back but didn’t let it go.

“Alpha Blake. Shift!” She commanded.

I was surprised that she knew who I was, but obeyed.

I went behind a tree and shifted back. I came out wearing only a pair of jeans.

“Princess, I suggest to turn yourself over to me and I promise you a quick and easy death.” I suggested.

“I am anything but a princess and I do not go down that easily. I think those skinny jeans are cutting off circulation to your brain.” She insulted.

‘Hahaha.’ Gavin laughed.

‘You’re supposed to be on my side.’

“Then I’ll make your death slow and painful.” I growled.

I lunged at her but she dodged me.

I hit a tree instead.

I was about to turn around to face her but a sharp pain erupted in my hand.

I groaned in pain as I looked at my hand.

She shot an arrow through my hand.

“I can easily kill you right now, but I’m not going to because you’re an alpha.” She said.

I gripped the arrow and pulled it out of my hand.

Damn that hurts!

I looked at her. She had a good coin around her neck.

Why would she have that!?

“That’s a pretty little coin you got there.” I had anger in my voice.

She looked at it then back at me.

“Don’t even think about getting it.” She grabbed another arrow and pulled the string back.

“So it’s special to you.” I smirked.

She just stood in her spot with no emotion.

I growled and tackled her.

She released the string but the arrow hit a tree.

I put my hands around her neck and quickly unhooked her necklace.

Before I could snap her neck she kicked my ‘area.’

I groaned and rolled off her. I cupped my manhood.

If I can’t have children, I blame her.

She grabbed another arrow and shot my leg.

“Don’t even think about following me or I’ll kill you on the spot.”

Before leaving she took out a dagger and cut an ‘R’ on the rogue’s forehead.

After getting back my energy from her kicking me I pulled out the arrow from my leg.

I looked at the ground. Her gold coin was on the floor.

I picked it up and put it around my neck.

Don’t want to lose it.

‘Or you just want it to remember her by.’ Gavin smirked.

‘I’m going to lure her into a trap. No one has ever seen her without her mask. Until me.’

‘Whatever. Can we go out to eat. I’m starving.’ He complained.

‘First you want to go for a run and now you want to eat. You know what I’m to hungry to care.’

* * *

Now I’m at Dina’s Diner with my beta, Xander and my Third in Command, Noah and their mates, Gina and Jamie.

The waitress, Dina, came to take our orders.

I while we were waiting for our food I told them about the Huntress in the woods and how I got her gold coin.

“Was she cute?” Xander asked.

Gina hit him upside the head.

“Ow. It was just a question, woman.” He groaned.

“She had a mask. I don’t know what she looked like. The rogues called her Robin Hood.” I explained.

“I’ve heard stories about her. She doesn’t hesitated to kill rogues but there are some rumors that she saved a couple rogues though.” Jamie explained.

I was about to respond but a scent of cinnamon and vanilla hit my nose.

I looked to the source of the scent.

At the door was a girl about 19 years old with black wavy hair, green eyes and glasses.

She’s beautiful.

She’s human. I don’t care. I want her.

‘Mate mate mate.’ Gavin kept chanting.

“Mate.” I said out loud.

“Our Luna. Finally.” Gina squealed.

My mate sat down in a booth in front of us.

I couldn’t take my eyes off her.

She’s so beautiful.

The waitress came to her and took her order.

She was all by herself.

I took the opportunity and sat in front of her.

She looked up from her phone.

“Can I help you?” She asked.

Her voice is so beautiful.

“I’ve never seen you here before. Are you new?” I ask.

“Yeah. I just moved in a week ago.” She answered.

“Cool. Where do you live?”

Like she’s going to tell me.

I sound like an idiot.

“In the woods. I’ve heard there are a lot of wild dogs around here though. It’s a bit scary.”

The rogues.

Aw. Don’t worry. I’ll protect you.

I won’t let them get my mate.

“Don’t be. The woods are actually a nice place to live. I love there with my family in the woods. I’m Blake Lockheart by the way.” I held my hand out.

“Artemis King.” She shook my hand.

Sparks and tingles shot up my arm. But damn! Her name is like music to my ears.

“That’s a nice gold coin.” She compliment.

I looked down at the coin then back at her. “Thanks, but it’s not mine.

“Then who’s is it?” She asked.

Oh no.

Gotta think of something quick.

“A friend of mine. We were walking and she dropped it when we parted ways. I found orbit I kept it with me so I wouldn’t lose it. I have to give it back.” I lied.

The waitress came to the booth and place a plate of food in front of her.

“Thank you.” She thanked as she dug into her food.

She moaned.

I could feel my eyes turn black then back to normal.

My wolf purred at the sound of her moaning.

“Anyway I should go. I have to get back to my family. I hope I see you again Artemis. Can I have your number to keep in touch?” I ask.

She’s probably going to say no.

She probably thinks I’m a creep.

“Yeah sure.” She wrote it on a napkin and handed it to me.

I winked at her before leaving with everybody else.

‘Xander, Noah. My mate is human and I know she’s not going to come with me willingly. So when we see her again we are going to kidnap her. But don’t tell Gena and Jamie. They’ll never approve.’ I explained through our link.

‘Alright alpha. But how are we going to find her?’ Noah asked.

‘Just leave that to me. I’m going to follow her in wolf form.’ I said.

They replied with a yes alpha.

I shifted into my wolf and hopped into the back of my mates truck as she hopped in the drivers seat.
