21. Leaving to see the Council

Artemis’s POV

I saw sound asleep until I felt somebody poking my sides.

I moved the hand away from me.

The hand moved from my side to my center. I shot up and smacked the the hand away.

I was met with a laughing Blake.

“You know there are better ways to wake me up.” I pointed out.

“Like what?”

“Yell chocolate chip pancakes then make them for me then watch as I fall asleep again.” I smiled.

“Only if I can fall asleep with you.” He pulled me into his chest.

“You can’t stop being horny can you?”

“Nope.”

He leaned in for a kiss but he was cut off my my laptop.

“Oh shoot. My grandparents are face timing me.”

I picked up my sports bra and slid on my shirt.

I put my laptop on my lap and hit the green button.

“Hi grandma.” I greeted.

“Who’s T-shirt are you wearing?” She asked.

I looked down at the shirt. Oops I put on Blake’s.

I looked over at Blake by the closet. He was trying really hard to suppress his laugh.

I glared at him.

“Nobody’s I just like wearing baggy shirts.” That was no lie. They’re just so comfortable.

“Right well aside from that, the council I’d getting really impatient. They want to see you in three days.”

“Three days? It takes four just to make sure it’s safe for us to leave the pack.”

“I know but they really need to see you and Blake.”

“Grandma we can’t just get up and leave. We have a pack to take care of.”

“I know sweetie but if you don’t go to see them soon they will launch an attack on your pack.”

I griped the keys in anger. “I’ll be on my way in two hours.”

“OK bye sweetie.”

I slammed the laptop shut and put it on the side table.

I marched to the closet and grabbed a pair of jeans and a T-shirt.

I was about to enter the bathroom but a pair of arms stopped me.

“Artemis are you sure you want to leave?”

I turned around to face Blake. “I don’t have a choice. The council will kill our pack if I don’t go.”

“Then I’m coming with you.”

“Of course you are the council wants to see you too.”

He groaned. “Do I have too?”

“Yes now go get ready.”

I entered the bathroom and took a quick shower then put on my clothes.

I packed clothes for me and Blake since I don’t know how long we’ll be over there.

People who visit the council usual stay here for weeks at a time.

I went down to the living room.

“OK so run me through that whole explanation again.” Xander said while looking clueless.

Nosh loomed at him weirdly.

Blake sighed and ran his hands down his face. “You just need to watch the pack for a while.”

“OK short and simple” Xander nodded.

“Kind like your attention span.” I laughed.

He glared at me.

“Xander you watch Midnight and her puppies.” Blake said.

“Yes!” He fist pumped in the air. “Now I can teach them to ride a skate board.”

Blake turned to Noah. “Noah you watch Midnight and her puppies.”

Xander pouted and crossed his arms over his chest. “You guys are no fun.”

Midnight stood up from her box and walked over to me.

I picked her up. “Wow Midnight you still have a lot of baby weight on you.”

She glared and me then barked.

“Don’t worry I’ll be fine. It’s just the council.”

I set her down and she walked back over to her puppies.

“Noah don’t let Xander near them.”

He gave me a thumbs up as Xander glared at me.

“Jeez. You get one dog pregnant and suddenly you can’t be trusted.” Xander ranted.

I looked at them time on my phone. “Blake we need to leave.”

“OK, let me get the guards.”

“No.”

“Why not.”

“The council doesn’t want too many werewolves to know about them. You’re the first werewolf in know who has been invited by the council.”

He sighed. “Are you sure we’ll be safe?”

“There’s over 100 of the worlds best hunters guarding the mansion where the council is. I think we’ll be fine.”

“Alright let’s go.”

“Another thing, I have to drive.”

Xander snickered. “You? Drive? I’ve never even seen got on a bike.”

I rolled my eyes at him and ignored him. “We’re taking my truck.”

Blake groaned. “Why?”

“Because only I know the location of the council. It’s only a few hours.”

“No Artemis you’re going to be tired.”

“I’ve stayed up for 36 hours straight cracking a rogue case who was rumored to know about the council. Driving for a few hours is nothing.”

Blake sighed. “Alright let’s go.”

Blake put our bags in the back seat then hopped in the passenger seat.

I hoped in the drivers seat and pulled out of the drive way.

A few hours later I was met with large gates.

Blake was asleep. It’s probably best. Being surrounded by people with silver would overwhelm him.

He started stirring around in his sleep until he opened his eyes.

Oh no.

“I smell silver.” He started freaking out.

I stopped my truck in front of the gates.

I touched his arm. “Calm down. If you freak out too much they will kill you.”

He nodded and calmed down a bit.

One of the hunters knocked on my window. I rolled it down.

“Code?” He asked.

I sighed. “Robin Hood the second.”

His eyes widened a little but he masked it.

I closed my window as he motioned the other hunters to open the gates.

“The second?” Blake asked.

“Don’t worry about it.” I simply said and started driving.

We reached the mansion. I know the council is rich. Show offs.

One of the guards took our bags and showed to our room.

Blake plopped down on the bed.

“Why are you tired? I’m the one who did all the driving.” I asked.

“I know but the seats weren’t comfortable to sleep on.”

I smiled at him and crawled next to him.

He grabbed my waist and hovered above me.

“What are you doing?” I ask even though I knew what he was doing.

“I don’t know what you are talking about.” He responded before trailing kisses up and down my neck keeping as much weight off me as possible.

“Really? Because I looks like you’re doing something.”

“Nope. I’m not doing anything.” He kissed my lips.

He pinned down my wrist on each side of my head.

He pulled away. “You know what? I’m not that tired.”
