20. Heat

Artemis’s POV

It’s been about two weeks and the puppies have grown a little bit.

Midnight is still over protective of them.

Xander almost lost a finger trying to pick them up. Gotta love werewolf healing.

They’re still crawling a bit but they’re learning who to walk slowly.

Some of them have opened their eyes but others have not.

“Artemis did you here me?” Iesha snapped me out of my thoughts.

“Huh? No. I was distracted by Xander trying to pick up the puppies again.” I pointed to him.

“Ow! C’mon Midnight.” He whined.

“Would you leave them alone. They don’t like you.” Gina popped in.

“Correction, Midnight doesn’t like me, the puppies are undecided.”

“I’ve made my decision clear.” Jamie cut in.

I snickered as Xander glared at us.

“Aw, babe don’t be sad.” Gina rubbed his arm as he smiled. “Be mad because I’m making fun of you too.”

Xander grabbed her waist and pulled her closer to him as his eyes changed colors.

“You are asking for a punishment mate.” He smirked as Gina blushed.

His wolf must be in control.

“I don’t think that’s a good idea, Jack.” Gina whispered.

Jack must be his wolf’s name.

“Oh, but I want too.” He kept his smirk in place. “I want to make you feel like a queen.”

“Wow, Xander’s wolf is the complete opposite of Xander.” I pointed out. “Charming and kind.”

His sent a glare my way then whispered something in Gina’s ear making her blush.

“You guys better not do it here in the kitchen.” I said. “This is where we eat food not throw it up.”

Iesha and Jamie snickered.

Xander’s eyes changed back to normal as he blushed.

I had to hold back my laughter.

“Anyway, I was saying should go shopping.” Iesha cut in. “Since today is your birthday.”

“It’s your birthday!?” Gina, Jamie, and Xander yelled in unison.

“I don’t like celebrating my birthday.”

“Why not?” Gina asked.

I sighed and put my forehead on the counter. “It was on the first birthday that my parents died. I stop celebrating my birthday after I found out.”

“Oh. I’m sorry.” Iesha apologized.

“It’s not your fault. Let’s just leave now before I get even more depressed.”

“Alright let’s go.” Jamie said.

We all hoped into Jamie’s car and started listen to songs by Alessia Cara.

These girls are obsessed with her songs.

Xander’s POV

It’s Artemis’s birthday?

How come she never told us?

I mean I understand why she didn’t want to celebrate it but still.

It can’t hurt to have a little fun.

‘Can we have some fun with our mate.’ My wolf, Jack, asked smirking.

‘Why do you always want to get laid?’ I ask him.

‘Hey it’s not my fault Gina will go into heat soon. And the same thing is happening to our Luna.’

‘And you didn’t tell me!?’

‘You didn’t ask.’

I ran up to Blake’s office and knocked on the door.

“Come in.” I heard him say from the other side of the door.

I opened the door and smiled with fake enthusiasm. He was sitting at his desk with some papers.

“OK so I have bad news and good news. Which do you want to hear first?” I ask.

“Bad news.” He answered.

“Well too bad I’m giving you the good news first.” I frowned.

He glared at me.

“The good news is, it’s Artemis’s birthday.”

He smiled. “That’s great!”

“The bad news is the girls are going into heat soon.”

His smile fell. “What did you say?”

“I said ‘the bad news is the girls are—”

“I know what you said!” He yelled.

I huffed.

“Rude.” I muttered.

“What are we going to do!?” He yelled.

“I don’t know! They just went shopping. I don’t know when they’ll be back.”

“They left without my consent, or guards!?”

“I think they can take care of themselves.”

“You do realize your mate is with them right?”

“Yes, but they have Artemis.”

He growled. “Just get them back here as soon as possible.”

“They just left. At least let them have some fun.”

“Fine. Send some guards to loom after them. At least five.”

“Alright. Seems reasonable.”

Blake’s POV

Artemis is going into heat.

Hopefully she doesn’t hate me.

‘Why would she hate us? She must be dying mate with us.’ Gavin smirked.

‘Cocky much?’

‘Nope. Not at all. I’m just speaking the truth.’

I rolled my eyes and blocked him out.

A few hours later Artemis came into my office.

“I do not appreciate the army you sent to watch us.” She glared and walked over to me.

I pulled her onto my lap and wrapped my arms around her waist. “I had too.”

“I’m not a baby, Blake and you can’t treat me like one.” She crossed her arms over her chest.

“But you’re my baby.” I put my face in the croak of her neck.

“You still can’t treat me like one.”

“I don’t care as long as no unmated males are around you.” I kissed her neck.

“OK you’ve been possessive lately. More than usual. What’s up?”

I ignored her question and trailed kisses up and down her neck.

I smirked when I felt her shiver in delight. I grabbed her hands and put them around my neck.

I was about to attack her neck with kisses again but she stopped me.

“Seriously, what’s wrong?” She asked.

I sighed. “You’re going into heat soon.”

She groaned and dropped her head on my chest. “Again!?”

I pulled her closer.

“Why do females have to go through this? Why not the males?” She pouted.

I put her pouting lip in between my teeth and kissed her slowly.

I licked her lip asking for an entrance. She denied. I poked her sides. She gasped I took the opportunity and slid my tongue in her mouth.

She pulled away. “Brat.”

My mouth gaped open. “What? Not enough tongue?” I smirked.

She glared at me and hit my chest. “Too much, asshat.”

I chuckled.

She was about to saw something but she let out a scream instead.

“My body is burning.” She gasped. “It’s like my skin is lava and I’m a volcano.”

“You’re in heat Princess.”

“It made me scream. I haven’t screamed in years.” She let out another scream. “Get rid of it.”

“The only way to get rid of her is too mate. I can’t do that if you’re not ready.”

“Just do it!”

“In my office!?”

She glared and my while breathing heavily. “No idiot in the bedroom.”

I picked her up bridal style and ran to our bedroom. I slammed the door shut and locked it.

I laid her down on the bed and hovered above her. “Are you sure?”

She nodded.

I kissed her passionately. She kissed back slowly.
