19. Xander got my dog Pregnant!

Artemis’s POV

“Artemis wake up.” I heard a voice but I ignored it. It sounded like Blake.

I groaned and rolled over to my side.

“C’mon Artemis you need to wake up.” Another voice popped up. Kinda like Noah’s.

I berried my head in my pillow.

I felt something cold hi my face. I wiped it off my face with my blanket and went back to sleep.

“Are you serious!? How can she still be asleep!? We dumped a bucket of ice water on her!” I recognize that voice as Xander’s.

“You don’t mess with a girls sleep.” I heard Jamie’s voice.

“Preach!” That was Iesha’s voice.

I slowly opened my eyes. Xander had a bucket in his hand and Noah and Blake stared at me wide eyed.

Gina, Iesha and Jamie had proud smirks on their faces.

My clothes and hair were wet for some reason.

“Hey guys.” I yawned. “What did I miss? And why do I look like I just got back from the water park?”

“Are you serious?” Xander asked. “We dumped water on you and you wouldn’t wake up.”

“Well that’s rude.” I glared. “I never try to wake you up.”

“How could you sleep through that?” Noah asked.

“I’ve slept through a 5 year olds birthday party. Compared to that, a bucket of water if a walk in the park.” I answered.

They looked at me with an empressed and expression but hey also looked at me like I was crazy.

“Anyway what’s so important you had to wake me up?” I glared.

“There’s something wrong with Midnight.” Blake answered. “She’s been barking and howling in the corner of the closet for 10 minutes.”

I heard her faint cries coming from the closet.

“Every time we get close to her to help her she growls and snaps at us.” Xander explained.

“That does sound like her.” I agreed. “But why do you just assume something is wrong?”

“Because her howls sound like she’s in pain.” Noah said.

I got up from the bed and opened the closet door.

I saw Midnight in the far corner whimpering and whining. She let out a painful howl.

“Calm down girl.” I said while walking slowly towards her.

I reached my my hand out to pet her head but she growled at me.

I retracted my hand and took a step back.

“What!? Midnight, you never growl at me.” I said to her.

She continued whimpering and howling.

I turned to everybody. “There’s something definitely wrong with her. She never growls at me.”

“Maybe we should take her to the pack doctor. We’re half canine and Midnight is full on canine. So what’s the difference?” Gina suggested.

I nodded. “Alright someone had to pick her up dispute her protest.”

“I’ll get her.” Blake volunteered.

He slowly walked to Midnight. She growled and snapped but Blake picked her up.

Midnight growled but didn’t stop him.

We all made our way to the pack doctor.

We set her on a hospital bed as doctor Linda started to examine her body.

“Luna, your dog is pregnant and she’s giving birth.” Linda smiled.

“What!?” I questioned. “Alright who mated with my dog?”

We all slowly turned out heads in Xander’s direction.

“You people are sick.” Xander pointed an accusing finger at us.

“Then what did happen?” I asked.

“So I might have taken her on a walk and I might have had a loose grip on her leash and she might have been missing for a few hours. When I found her I might have seen her with a German Shepard.” He explained putting emphasis on ‘might.’

“Xander, you might have gotten my dog pregnant!” I shouted putting emphasis on ‘might.’

“Hey I think it’s a good thing.” He put his hands up in surrender.

I glared at him and narrowed my eyes.

“Why are you looking at me like that?” Xander asked with fear in his voice.

“No one plans a murder out loud.” I fake smiled.

Xander jumped back in fear.

“Artemis calm down.” Blake grabbed my hand.

“No.” I refused. “Lots of dogs die after giving birth. What if that happens to Midnight?” My voice cracked.

He pulled me into his chest. “Everything is going to be OK. Most dogs live. Just let her deliver her pups.”

“I can’t loose her Blake. She’s my best friend.” My voice kept cracking.

“Thanks, I feel appreciated.” Xander said sarcastically.

We all glared at him.

“Not the time. Right sorry.” He looked down at his feet.

“Luna, I will help her deliver the puppies but you all must leave.” Linda insisted.

“Are you sure you can do this?” I ask. “You’re a pack doctor not a vet.”

She nodded. “I’m sure.”

I sighed. “Alright guys let’s leave.”

We exited the room and took a seat.

Who’s idea was it to make these chairs so uncomfortable?

We waited until Linda came back with a smile.

“Midnight has successfully brought 6 new puppies into the world.”

I ran toward Midnight. She was nursing 6 puppies.

“Can I keep one?” Xander asked.

“No.” I replied.

He pouted. “Aw c’mon. They’re so cute. I’m going to name that brown one Oatmeal.”

“You can name them but you can’t keep them.” I said. “Besides there’s two brown ones.”

“Yes, but the other one has white paws. The one that I named doesn’t.” He pointed out.

“Well Xander already named Oatmeal. What other names do you guys have in mind?” I asked everybody else.

“The other brown one could be named Coco.” Gina said.

“The brown and white one could be named Lucky.” Noah suggested.

“The dark brown and white one is Stripes.” Iesha said.

“The other dark brown one with white could be Dip.” Jamie said.

“Why Dip?” I asked.

“Because his tail looks like it was dipped on white.” She explained.

“That just leaves the completely black one.” Blake says.

“It kinda looks like that German Shepard I saw with Midnight.” Xander cut in.

I glared him. “Just shut up.”

“I think we should name it, Midnight Jr.” Jamie suggested.

“Nah. Been there, named that.” Xander waved her off.

I turned to the puppy. It started crawling but fell on its back.

It started struggling like a turtle on its shell.

Midnight picked up the puppy and set it back next to her stomach.

“Clumsy.” I suggested.

“You want to name him after a smurf?” Xander asked.

“It’s suits him. Look at him.”

We all turned to him and he was on his back again.

Xander shrugged. “Alright sounds good.”

“Now how are we going to get these puppies back to the pack house?” Noah asked.

“In a box.” Xander suggested.

I shrugged. “It’s better than a bedpan.”

Blake pulled out a giant box. Noah place Midnight in the box as Xander put the puppies in.

We walked back to the pack house. Midnight was fast asleep. We left her in the guest bedroom next to mine and Blake’s room.

I still can’t believe it.

Xander got my dog pregnant.
