12. The Pack

Artemis’s POV

Today was the day of the ceremony.

I did tell my grandparents about it.

They weren’t happy that an entire pack was going to know about me but then they realized I was the future Luna.

I’m still not used to calling myself a Luna.

We’ve decided that after Iesha, Justin, and Johnny are sworn in, I’m going to enter as Robin Hood.

I’m really nervous.

I don’t know what to expect.

Iesha, Gina, and Jamie have to wear dresses.

Iesha is wearing a blue and white strapless dress. The top is white and the bottom is blue. Her hair is straightened and she’s wearing white wedges.

Gina has a black off the shoulder long sleeve dress that reaches to her mid thigh. It has two see through strips on her waist. Her hair is curled and in a bun and wearing black heals

Jamie has a two piece dark blue dress with a sweetheart neck line. The skirt reaches to her knees. Her hair is down and she’s wearing black wedges.

Midnight is with Blake at the pack house. She’s wearing a red plaid dress with a black bow.

I know it’s wrong to dress up your dog but Midnight really doesn’t mind.

We all got ready at my house.

I have no idea how the pack members are going to react when they see me.

“C’mon we need to start heading to the pack house.” Jamie pulled me out of my thoughts.

“You guys go ahead. I’ll walk.” I said.

They nodded and left.

I took a deep breath and made my way to the pack house.

Blake’s POV

Everything was set up.

I couldn’t wait to introduce my mate to my pack.

Iesha, Justin and Johnny wear already here along with Xander, Noah, Gina, and Jamie.

I put Midnight with one of the guard next to me since she’s not comfortable with me.

We were just waiting on the pack members.

Soon everyone started to pile in. Everybody took their seats.

We couldn’t start until Artemis got here though.

I couldn’t see her anywhere.

“Do you know where Artemis is?” I asked Iesha.

“No. She didn’t come with us.” She replied.

I mind linked her. ‘Princess, where are you?’

‘I’m on my way. Just start without me.’

‘Are you sure?’

‘Yes. Just start as soon as everybody’s there.’

Before I could respond she blocked me out.

The last couple entered the room with their pups and took their seats.

I started the ceremony.

“Good afternoon, Midnight Fire pack. Today we are swearing in three new people into the pack. Iesha Wood, Justin Wood, and Johnny Carson. Extend your right hand.” I turned to them.

They all showed me their right hand. I sliced their palm along with mine and put our hands together.

Our wounds started healing. I could feel them slowly enter my mind with the link.

“Congratulations, all three of you are now part of the Midnight Fire pack.”

Everyone applauded.

‘Artemis, are you here?’ I mind linked Artemis.

‘Just continue.’ She blocked me out.

I waited for the applause to die down before I started speaking again.

“There is one more thing, I have met my mate. She will be your Luna. I expect you to treat her with the same respect as you treat me. Please welcome your Luna.”

I saw her burst through the window. She was dressed as Robin Hood. She landed on one knee on the stage.

She stood up and ignored all the growls and snarls from my members and guards.

“Quiet!” I yelled through the microphone.

Everyone covered their ears and stayed silent.

“This is my mate.” I lowered my voice.

Everyone stayed silent until Artemis spoke up.

“I know I’m a hunter. Most of you recognize me as the huntress name Robin Hood. You’ve all heard rumors and stories about me. About how I kill every werewolf I sight. Those rumors are false. I only kill rogues. I know that still makes me a killer. I know it’s going to take time to earn your trust but I am trusting you with my secret. No one outside this pack knows who I am. Please keep it that way.”

She took off her hood and her mask. “My name is Artemis King. And I promise to protect this pack with my life.”

I could help but smile. She had the confidence to take off her mask in front of my pack.

I’m so proud of her.

‘She’s right you are cheesy.’ Gavin said.

‘Shut up. You ruined the moment.’ I replied.

‘Then I’m doing my job.’

My pack started to applaud. I heard whistles and cheers.

They trust her.

“We will keep you secret Luna!” I heard somebody yell.

I saw a smile tugging up on her face.

‘You know you just broke my window. You owe me a new window.’ I mind linked her.

‘Do I look like a window fixer to you?’ She sassed.

‘Alright fine. Don’t fix it.’ I took her hand and led her off the stage.

As soon as we were out of sight from the pack members I brought her lips to mine.

She was surprised at first but quickly responded.

To my disappointment she pulled away.

“What was that for?” She asked while smiling.

“Because I’m proud of you. You took off your mask.” I smiled back.

“Hey, Blake.” I’m familiar voice popped in.

I turned around and saw Tiffiny. She’s one of my closest friends.

“Hi Tiffiny.” I greeted and turned back to my mate.

“Aren’t you going to introduce me to your mate?” She looked at me lime I was an idiot.

“Artemis this is one of my closest friends, Tiffiny. Tiffiny this is my mate Artemis.” I introduced them.

“Hi.” Artemis greeted.

Tiffiny waved at her.

“I’ll be right back I’m going to get Midnight.” I kissed Artemis’s nose before leaving.

Artemis’s POV

“So how long have you known Blake?” I asked Tiffiny trying to make conversation.

Her expression changed. “Let’s cut to the case, Blake is mine.”

Now my expression changed. Of course there had to be a pack bitch disguised as a nice person.

“I think you’ve been hitting you head on too many trees in wolf form because he’s my mate.” I replied.

She glared at me. “He’s mine. He was supposed to be my mate until you came along. A hunter and werewolf are not meant to be together.”

“I think you better wake up because this is real life not your fantasies.”

“Listen here and listen well. I am going to crack the case on why he wants you instead of me. I’m supposed to be the Luna.”

“The only thing you’re capable of cracking is a fun house mirror.”

That maybe wasn’t true. She’s flawless.

“Bitch you will pay.” She huffed and left.

Blake came back holding Midnight.

“Can you watch her for a little bit? I’m going to take a walk.” I asked Blake.

“Are you sure?”

I nodded and walked out the door. I put on my mask and hood.

I kept going deeper and deeper into the woods.

I heard rustling behind me. I pretended to ignore it and kept walking.

I took and arrow out of my quiver and quickly pulled the string back into the direction of the noise.

“I know your there. Come out of the shadows Logan!” I yelled at the darkness.

He came out smirking. “Miss me baby?”

Iesha’s POV

After they cheered for Artemis I decided to wander around the pack house.

Out of nowhere I smelt the most amazing scent.

Strawberries and pine.

It felt like my nose had a mind of its own.

I followed the scent until it led me to one of the rooms.

I was about to knock on the door but it bursted open revealing a guy with black hair and brown eyes.

‘Mate mate mate!’ Lexi kept yelling in my head.

The guy pulled me into his chest. “Mine.” He growled into my ear.

I have another mate!?

How!?

I got rejected.

The moon goddess rarely gives second chance mates.

“What’s your name?” I asked.

“Tyler.” He trailed kisses down my neck but I stopped him.

“We need to talk.”

He motioned me to sit on the bed.

He closed the door and locked it.

I have to tell him about Alpha Mac.
