Chapter 13
Chapter Thirteen
Sin: You ignored my texts all weekend.
Lavender: My sister came to visit with her family. Maybe it's a good thing that you're away.
Sin: Lou informed me when I didn't hear from you. Apparently your nephews are now best friends with my niece and nephew.
Lavender: Sorry, I was enjoying the time with my family. Yes, they're besties now and we spent a lot of time decorating cookies at your grandma's bakery. Now she wants me to help her organize the Summer Festival.
Sin: What is that?
Lavender: Not sure, but thankfully, Bishop and McKay are stepping up and offered to do it this year. They did say that next year might be your turn.
Sin: I'm not going to be there next year.
Lavender: Where will you be?
Sin: Who knows?
Lavender: But you're coming back right?
Sin: Obviously. I still need to prove to you that I can become your friend.
Lavender: You already lost the challenge.
Sin: Not yet. I had to call a time-out so I could figure out how to save the employees, remember?
Lavender: You're breaking the rules.
Sin: There's no rule book for this.
Lavender: Fine, but you get only one more chance.
Sin: Phew, for a moment there I thought you were going to bench me.
Lavender: Nah, even if we never become friends, I'd still text you from time to time.
Sin: And send me pictures of sunsets too?
Lavender: Or flowers, birds, and the occasional squirrel.
Sin: You do like nature, I don't understand why you live in a city.
Lavender: When I finished college it was a toss-up between staying in California or moving to my aunt's studio in New York. Low rent won out. emoji
Sin: Are you subleasing?
Lavender: No, she owned it—now it's mine. I'm the one actually subleasing it. Hence why I can't go back home until the end of August.
Sin: Why would you sublease it?
Lavender: My store is currently closed—there's no income coming in. I thought visiting Kentbury and trying to figure out where my future is heading was a smart move.
Sin: Up until now, I hadn't thought about your income.
Lavender: As long as I can get back to the business soon, it'll be fine.
Sin: Raffa says he's working on it.
Lavender: Don't bother him about it. He's going to think that I'm nagging you to ask him what's happening.
Sin: Don't worry, he won't. He's here with me so he already knows, I just asked about the status.
Lavender: Oh, okay. Thank you for all your help. I really appreciate it.
Sin: I'd love to stay and chat, but we have to meet my father.
Lavender: Wishing you luck.
Sin: I don't need luck, just patience and restraint.
Lavender: Restraint?
Sin: Yeah. Restraint so as not to say or do something stupid while he insults us.
Lavender: Sorry, I didn't realize that things are that bad.
Sin: Don't be sorry. It's not your fault.
Lavender: Still, I wish I could be there to comfort you.
Sin: Thank you. I appreciate that. Chat with you later.
