Chapter 43

CHAPTER FORTY-THREE

Cole

Dean, Dane and I were quietly walking like we were told to, but I hear the sounds of a fight and struggle. We all look at each other and take off running.

We run into the hall where the maintenance closest is and what I see shocks the living shit out of me.

Ty is slamming his fists into Dylan’s face over and over.

“Get Ty off of him before he kills him and ruins his life.” I tell Dane and Dean.

They go over to get Ty off of Dylan.

“You piece of shit mother fucker!” I scream at fucking as I move towards where Crawford is beginning to stand.

Crawford gets up. He comes at me, but I’m ready for him. The adrenaline that is pumping through my veins takes over. I’m able to stop him as he tries to hit me with his shoulder in the stomach by grabbing him at his throat and slamming him down to the ground.

He tries to overpower me, but he can’t. Ty and he already went at it. I see a knife next to his leg when he tries to kick me. I pick it up and hold it to his throat. He stops moving.

“Call the cops,” I tell whoever is listening.

I look up to make sure the guys heard me.

My hand with the knife comes down and stabs him in the stomach. What did I just do? I don’t want to kill him. I pull it out and toss it to the side.

He needs to be behind bars for this shit.

No, fuck that. He deserves it.

He’s grunting, but he’s still trying to fight me. I grip his shirt and pull him up from the ground. He’s able to get some punches into the sides of my body, but there isn’t a lot of force behind them.

I punch him square in the face and go to follow him with my fists, but Dean and King are pulling me off him.

“He’s out. We need to find your girl,” Dean says.

I look around to see where my girl could be and I catch sight of the bottom of a sneaker at the corner a few feet away. I run over and find her.

Dropping to my knees, I hold my breath and check for a pulse.

Baby, please still be here with me.

I let out the breath I was holding when I feel her pulse under my fingers. Her chest slightly rises as she breathes.

Thank God.

Her feet are bound together by a single zip tie. Her hands have to be behind her back, bound as well.

I don’t want to move her because I don’t know where else she is injured. I can see the black and blue bruising that has already started to show on her face along with swelling.

Mother Fucker. I should move the few feet and kill him.

“Baby, I’m here. I’m sorry.” I whisper to her.

“Police and ambulance are here. Dean went to meet them.” Ty says.

The only thing I can do is nod. I can’t talk right now. I’m on the verge of losing it even more when I hear a grunt.

“Stay with her, Ty.” I tell him and walk back to where the waste of humanity is.

The rest of the guys are holding Crawford down.

I march right the fuck over to him. My anger is ready to explode on this piece of shit even more after seeing what he did to Adriana.

He looks up at me walking towards him and fucking smiles.

I deck him across the face. He slumps down and I grab him by the throat and squeeze until I’m being pulled off him once again.

This time it’s by police officers. I realize this and try to calm my shit down.

“Mr. Evans, we’re going to need you to step over here to talk to you.” One officer says.

The EMT’s are walking past me to go to Adriana. I go to follow them but the police officer grabs my arm and shakes his head.

“Please, I need to make sure she’s okay. I will talk to you all night after if I need to.” I calmly say.

He gives me the look of fine and follows me.

Adriana now has her legs and hands freed. They already have her on the stretcher, and her eyes are open.

The guys are there with her. I have the best brother and friends.

Dean moves from her side so I can take his place. I gently place my hand on top of hers, which causes her to slowly move her head in my direction.

“Baby, I’m so sorry this happened to you. This is my fault.” I say as my eyes well up with tears.

“No, it’s not.” She whispers.

“We need to get moving. We’re taking to her to get checked out at the E.R.” one of them says.

I must give a look because she’s shaking her head.

“Mr. Evans, Laine is our co-worker. I promise she is going to be taken care of,” she informs me.

“I’ll be there as soon as I can, Sugar.” I tell her and kiss her forehead.

They wheel her away, and every bone in my body tells me to stop them. The police officer who escorted me over to her looks at me and I know I need to handle this first. They caught me choking him.

“Thank you Officer. I needed to see for myself that she was okay.” I tell him.

“I understand. I’m officer Rowe. This is my partner, officer Collins.” He introduces them.

“I’m-“ I go to introduce myself but am stopped.

“We know who you are, Mr. Evans.” Office Collins says.

“Right. Sorry.”

“No need to be sorry. We help patrol the stadium during the games here and there.” he informs me.

“Thank you for that.” I say.

I don’t know what the hell is going to happen now. All I can think about is getting to the hospital to lay eyes on my girl.

“What happened prior to us walking in and what we saw?” Officer Rowe asks.

“The guys and I were at the driving range when my brother’s wife called me, asking if I was with Adriana. She is my girlfriend.” I clarify.

“I told them I wasn’t, and she told me she had come here to return the new mascot costume and was supposed to meet her back at the house. She wasn’t there and her phone was going straight to voicemail.” I recount.

“So you all came here to look for her?”

I nod my head and continue to tell them what happened from when we arrived at the stadium to when they walked in.

“Okay, thank you. Why don’t you go wait off to the side while we talk to everyone else one by one,” Rowe informs me.

I shake both their hands and walk off to the side. There is currently another team of EMT’s here.

I see Crawford being put on a stretcher and once it’s brought up to the normal height, there is another police officer cuffing him to the bars.

I smile slightly and think at least he won’t be getting away with this.

Ty comes to where I am and hugs me.

“She’s going to be fine. We got here in time, brother. I promise,” he tells me.

“No, we didn’t. He was able to lay his hands on her period.” I retort.

“I get it Cole. I do. My mindset would be the same if it was Heather, okay? Know you did nothing wrong. As soon as you knew something was wrong, you took action.” he says.

Ty hugs me again. It doesn’t help, but I know that it’s not just for me. It’s for both of us.

Dane, Dean and King all eventually join us.

“Cole, we aren’t pressing charges. As far as we can gather, what happened was self defense. Same goes for you Tyler. Now we can’t guarantee that he won’t try when we go to speak with him. But we are already in touch with security to obtain video footage.” Collins informs us.

“Thank you. Are we able to leave now?” I ask.

“Yes, you can get to the hospital. Thank you for not being difficult while waiting,” Rowe tells us.

We all shake hands with the officers and rush to leave the stadium.
