33. Theo
Chapter thirty-three
Theo
T he Rogue fixes those burning blue eyes on me as I block her passage to the stairs.
After we returned to the nest, I laid Brody down on the cushions and waited until my knot loosened.
Then I left him to Kellen and Alastor.
As much as it pains me to leave him, I know I have to do this.
It's time to make a stand, consequences be damned.
I don't care what the boss says.
This Rogue has no place in my Omega's nest.
And I don't care how lovely and wild she looks right now, her face covered in droplets of blood as she clenches her fists.
She's still wearing the red dress, but her makeup has smudged now.
Twenty-two really is something to look at, and I'll admit that she left me spellbound when she came down the stairs.
But that pathetic Alpha has gone now, and I have come to my senses.
I will not show weakness again.
I bet she would love for me to fall at her knees like putty so she can take my place in the nest.
Brody is mine.
And like hell I am going to share him with this Rogue.
"Brody needs me," she says, so sure of herself.
I arch a brow. "Does he now? Last I checked, he has everything he needs. Three Alphas, three knots. What could you give him, Rogue?"
Yet she only bares her teeth, and my Alpha almost caves when he gets a look at those sharp canines. "Move out of my way."
I snort. "No. You have no place in his nest. You have no place in this pack. The only reason why I tolerate you is because of my boss. Don't push me… you are already on thin ice."
Her baby blues flash and fuck she's tempting.
But I will not be swayed. She is not to be trusted.
She works for the enemy. For all we know, he could be controlling her right now.
"I will fight you if I have to."
A chuckle escapes me. "Oh, you will now? And how do you think poor Brody will feel when he wakes from his heat to find his house a mess? The one you helped him clean? Know your place. You are outmatched. "
She smirks. "Are you so sure about that, Alpha?"
Damn, the way she says Alpha really messes with my cock, but I won't be swayed.
I'm not Alastor; I won't be tempted by her charms.
At least I can count on Kellen in that regard. He may not be the brightest in our pack, but not once has he let his attention waver.
He has always been about Brody.
Right from the start.
"So, what will it be? A fight in the kitchen? Your happiness for Brody's?"
She grits her teeth.
"Even if you do manage to get past me, you also have two more obstacles in your way. You saw Kellen with those protestors. No one touches his Omega."
Fear dances in her eyes, but it passes within moments, and now she raises her chin, pushing out her chest.
I try not to look at her breasts or the fact they are covered in some Beta's blood.
Instead, I focus on her eyes, and there's no missing the blue flames.
"And don't think Alastor will come to your rescue either. You are nothing to him, Rogue. Just some toy he can play with when he's bored."
It seems I finally got to her with that comment. It's something she's figured out for herself.
Alastor is a heartless piece of shit.
We all are.
But I'll ensure we still give Brody everything he needs.
His infatuation with the Rogue won't last. It was just his heat taking over.
Once it passes, he will forget all about her and realize he never needed her in the first place.
"So, what will it be? Your call."
She takes a moment to absorb my words, but then she soon comes to her senses and slumps her shoulders, and there's no missing the tear that drips down her cheek.
For a moment, it breaks me, the sight of her heartbreak and grief as I remind her of her place. But then I scoff and turn away from her at last.
I'm sick of the sight of her.
I should be with my Omega, not this creature.
But when I look back one last time, I find her with her hands over her eyes, and it looks like she has finally realized.
No one wants her.
She is not needed.
But if I have to be the villain in order to protect my Omega, so be it.
This is for the best.
She is dangerous.
She would only bring Brody pain.
