16. Allison

"Welcome to your temporary quarters.I'll determine your fate in a few days. I can't imagine Benni wanting to go anywhere with me, knowing I've taken her friend. But then again, who"s to say anyone would suspect me?" He shrugged indifferently.

"I could dispose of you, and no one would be the wiser. In fact, I could leave right now, head back to Spain, and vanish without a trace," he mused aloud. He initially seemed lost in his own thoughts until his gaze met mine, and he flashed a wry smile. What do you think?" he inquired.

"I think you should let me leave. I can find my way home on my own. I don't even know your name, so I couldn"t incriminate you even if I wanted to," I urged, nodding in earnest, hoping he would agree.

"That's not an option. Once I return to Spain, I'll instruct a realtor to sell my house, and they'll eventually find you. You have access to a bathroom, so you have water. I'll bring you some food before I leave," he stated matter-of-factly before turning to exit the room.

"Please don't leave me here alone. Ever since I was shot, I"ve suffered from panic attacks. That"s why I was staying at the big house," I pleaded desperately. Yet, he merely closed the door behind him, leaving me to my own devices. Upon checking, I realized I couldn't even tell where the door was. I wondered if the other side looked the same as this side. I didn't even notice it when he pushed me in here.

I paced the room. It was large and had a king-size bed and a dresser. Why would a room you couldn't get out of have a king-size bed and dresser? The faint sound of the door unlocking interrupted my thoughts, and I decided to fight my way out of this room, or I could rot in here.

"Don't even think about it. If you want me to leave you food, you'll walk over to that wall on the other side of the bed," he said, stepping into the room with a gun pointed at me.

I walked over to the other side of the wall as he sat the food on the dresser. "There is enough to last you a week." He backed out, took another bag from the floor, and put it inside the room.

"I am sorry you became involved in this. There is a light switch in here somewhere and a switch that will open the skylight. That will give you something to do until you are released. You can hunt for the switches.

I'll call a realtor in a week. So, hopefully, they will come and open the door, and you will be able to hear them; they won't be able to hear you. This room is soundproof." he concluded before sealing the door shut. That's exactly what it felt like. I felt as if he sucked the air out of the room, and sealed it shut.
