Chapter 17

LEILANI
A fter a good cry, Leilani slowly made her way back to the parking lot, flanked on either side by Sierra and Rory. She found herself letting out a sigh as they walked. Now that she was calm, it was hard not to admire the way the sunlight streamed through the green leaves and sparkled off the gray stone. Her friends hovered closely around her, still whispering soft reassurances until they made it into the parking lot. Suddenly they both stopped, eyes locked on something in the distance.
Leilani followed their gaze but shook her head in disbelief at the tall figure with dark hair pacing at the edge of the parking lot. "What? No, that can't be right. What's she doing here?"
"Maybe it's someone else," Sierra said. "Either way, let's just make it over to my car then I can give you a ride home."
She hesitated. "But what if it is her?"
"If it is, do you want to talk to her?"
She chewed her lip but didn't answer.
As they walked, she couldn't stop staring at the familiar figure. As she got closer, she realized she was right.
Standing near the cars was Adaze. Her eyes were puffy and red rimmed. Leilani took a deep breath.
"You don't need to talk to her if you don't want to," Sierra assured.
"No, I need to do this."
"Alright, but we're going with you."
They walked over to where Adaze was standing. She stopped pacing and just looked at Leilani in disbelief as if she didn't expect her to actually be willing to even walk over to her. The second their eyes met, she tried to shove down the urge to run over her, wrapping her arms around her.
Adaze licked her lips. "Y-you're still here."
"Yeah, I am, but you left. What are you doing back here? Did you forget your phone or something?" Leilani asked, chewing her lip and crossing her arms so she wouldn't be tempted to reach out to her.
Adaze avoided her eyes. "I was hoping to talk to you, if you're comfortable with that, of course."
She frowned. "Why?"
She rubbed the back of her head. "I feel like I owe you an explanation and an apology if you want to hear it of course."
"Whatever you want to say to her, you can say to us," Rory and Sierra moved to step in front of her, but Leilani stopped them.
"Hey, it's alright. I want to hear what she has to say. Can you give the two of us a minute alone?"
"Are you sure you want to do this?" Rory asked with a deep frown on her face. "You don't owe her anything if you aren't comfortable. We can just take you home or back to my place. Maybe get some ice cream and put on a sad movie."
"I know, but I think I need to do this or I'll always wonder what might have been. Besides, I might not owe her, but I owe it to myself."
Rory sighed. "Alright, we'll be over by my car. If you need anything, you can just yell for us, yeah?"
She nodded. "Thank you, but I think I can handle it."
"Okay." The pair shot her one last look before they walked away, leaving the couple alone—if they could even still be called that.
"So?" Leilani said when Adaze hadn't said anything after a few minutes. She crossed her arms. "You said something about giving me an explanation. Then go on, explain what the hell happened."
"Right, yeah." She swallowed. "I want to start by saying I'm sorry. I was so shocked when I saw Veronica in the parking lot, I snapped and I took it out on you. That wasn't right and I'm so sorry."
"You should be," Leilani crossed her arms. "The second I tried to talk to you, you ran off. You didn't tell me what was going on or why you were upset. I didn't even know if you were coming back. I didn't like that. You could have just told me you needed a minute. I would have understood."
"I'm sorry. I shouldn't have just left like that. If I could, I would go back in time and stop myself. I don't know that I could have had a conversation at that point, but I could have at least told you I needed some time to myself."
"I'd have understood if you'd told me that, you know? I would have given you space until you were ready to talk."
"I know. I would understand if you didn't forgive me."
Leilani let out a long breath. Part of her wanted to, but she needed more. She needed to know that they were on the same page. That they could make it work. "That's an apology. It isn't an explanation."
"You're right. I just—I saw Veronica, my ex-wife , and I just panicked. I can't explain what was going through my head. All I knew was I felt like I needed to protect myself, and the only way I could think to do that was to get away."
Leilani took a deep breath. "I don't really know what to say to that."
"I don't know what I hope you'd say to that. All I know is I care about you, and I really hope you can give me another chance."
"I want to. I really want to. But I can't just do it off of this. I just need you to give me a reason."
Adaze took a deep breath. She held out her hands and Leilani took them, a cautious smile coming onto her face.
"I need to say something," Adaze said. "Maybe it isn't the best time to say it. It definitely isn't how I planned to say it, but I need to because if I don't say it now, I might not get another chance."
Leilani squeezed her hands. "Whatever it is, I'm listening. You have my full attention."
"Here goes nothing." She took a shaky breath. "I love you."
Leilani gasped. Her heart thundered in her chest. "What? What did you just say?"
"I said I love you," she said with a bit more confidence.
"Do you really mean that?"
"I do. I love you so much. I know we haven't known each other long, but?—"
"I love you too."
"We can make this work, Leilani. I promise you that. You are the most incredible woman I have ever met. I want to have forever with you. I know I have jealousy issues from what Veronica did. I will get counseling and deal with that. It isn't fair to put that on you. Do you think we could go back to my place and talk?"
"Talk or talk ?" She wiggled her eyebrows.
Adaze found herself laughing despite it all. "Both? We do have a lot we need to figure out, but I also really want to be close to you."
Leilani grinned. "I think that can be arranged, because I feel the same way. Just let me tell Rory and Sierra what's going on so they don't worry."
"I'll give you a moment. I'll be in the car when you're ready." Adaze squeezed her hand before she walked away.
Leilani let out a long breath then went to find her friends.
"I'm going to go with Adaze. We have a lot we need to talk about."
"Are you sure you want to be alone with her after what happened?"
Leilani couldn't help but smile. "I know it's hard to understand, but yeah I do. We're going to try and make things work."
"Really?"
"Really. I know we have just so much to figure out, but I love her."
Rory smiled back. "Alright, but just remember, if you need anything, all you need to do is call us."
"I know, thank you both."
The trio shared a hug then Leilani headed over to Adaze's car. Leilani came over with a smile.
"Alright. I'm ready to go."
"Perfect."
They climbed in the car and made their way back to Adaze's place.
The second they were through the door, Leilani's lips were on hers. Adaze let out a surprised gasp, melting against her.
She wanted to be as close to her as possible. She wanted to make her way into her chest and curl up around her heart.
Leilani wrapped her arms around her even tighter. She broke away from her lips, trailing her way down her neck.
Adaze gasped, tightening her hands where they clutched at her shirt.
"We should move this to the bedroom," Leilani said against her skin.
"I couldn't agree more."
The pair stumbled their way down the hall, lips never parting for more than a few seconds. They made their way inside and Leilani laid Adaze out on the bed.
"Let me take care of you, Mommy," she said, pressing another kiss to her lips.
Adaze smiled up at her. "Alright, Baby, whatever you want."
Leilani moved to lay on top of her, sealing their lips together once more. For a long time, she just stayed there, breathing her in, her hands roaming her body. It wasn't long before she grew impatient, tugging her shirt over her head.
The instant it was off, she leaned forward, desperate to get her lips on any skin she could. She pressed kisses along her neck, peppered pecks along her chest, working her way down her torso.
Adaze moaned, arching against her. Leilani just continued her pace until she came to the top of her pants.
Adaze eagerly moved her hips to help Leilani get her out of them and her underwear.
"What is it you always tell me?" Leilani purred. "Patience?"
She groaned. "I bet you're having a lot of fun being on the other side of this equation for once."
"Yeah, I am," she said, leaning in to pepper kisses along her thighs.
Adaze squirmed under her attention. When she didn't stop, Leilani gave a warning bite to her thigh.
She yelped in surprise. "Did you just bite me?"
"I did, and I'll do it again if you don't hold still."
Adaze huffed but did her best to remain still as Leilani worked her way from her knee to her thighs.
But every time she got close to where Adaze wanted her, she pulled away, kissing along somewhere else, be it the other leg, her stomach, even leaning up to kiss her breasts again a few times.
Finally, she brought her lips to Adaze's vulva. Kissing, licking, sucking, probing with her tongue. Leilani buried her face between Adaze's legs and wanted to lose herself in the sweet, sweet smell and taste of her. Adaze got wetter and wetter, and her moans became louder and louder.
Leilani knew she never wanted to be anywhere else. Adaze was the one for her. Sure, she had issues, but she would work on them, and they would live happily ever after—she would make sure of it. She felt Adaze's fingers tangle in her hair as she pulled her face in closer.
Leilani could barely breathe, but it was entirely worth it.
"Oh, Baby, you are the best. I'm going to come so hard on your tongue."
Leilani pressed the flat of her tongue firmly against Adaze's clitoris. It was seconds later when Adaze moaned loudly and came hard with a cry. Leilani felt Adaze gush in her mouth and she swallowed and licked, eager to take every sweet drop of her pleasure.
The taste of Adaze made her happier than ever.
"Now, it's my turn." she smiled as she licked her lips as she pulled away.
Adaze laughed, "Always about your pleasure at the end of the day." She pulled Leilani up onto the bed and rolled on top of her moving her wrist between their bodies and sliding her finger through Leilani's wetness.
Leilani moaned and opened her legs to allow her access. She loved the feeling of Adaze on top of her, fucking her.
"Oh, please… fuck me…" Leilani gasped. She was so turned on, the need to feel Adaze inside of her was urgent and becoming more urgent by the second.
She looked into Adaze's beautiful aqua eyes.
"Please… Mommy…" she gasped.
Leilani felt Adaze's fingers pushing hard into her with no mercy. Adaze pushed straight inside her, found her G spot easily and began to fuck her, building a rhythm, building speed as she knew Leilani liked it.
Leilani moaned, throwing her head back. She bit Adaze's shoulder and kept her mouth there as Adaze fucked her harder, faster, relentlessly.
"Please… Can I touch my clit? Can I come?" Leilani begged.
"Sure, Baby. Touch yourself, come for me."
As the fingers of Leilani's right hand reached between their bodies and slid against her clitoris, it was a matter of seconds before her orgasm tore through her body.
She cried out, biting again at Adaze's shoulder and clinging onto her lost in the moment.
As she was coming down, she leaned in, bringing their lips together in a long, languid kiss. Adaze dipped her head to Leilani's ear.
"There's my Good Girl," she purred.
