Chapter 29
Drake
I feel an arm reach out and push me aside.
I don’t realize that it’s Ryder until I am stumbling to stop myself from falling. Men come rushing inside, mostly Raven Clubhouse members, but then a swarm of police officers behind, shouting commands and holding their guns for all to see.
At that moment, Lacy also begins to fall as Josh somehow loses his balance. Without giving it a second thought, I sprint forward and tackle Josh.
As my body collides with his, I hear a loud ringing sound in my ears and then a pain in my left arm.
I fall to the ground, screaming out in pain as I realize I have been shot. As I land onto the hard, dirty floor, my eyes lock with Lacy.
She is alright. I search her body and don’t see any gunshot wounds or anything worse than her cut lip. “Hey,” I say, wincing from the pain in my arm.
Lacy’s smile fades as she looks down and sees the pool of blood forming around me now. “Drake,” she cries. “You are shot!”
My body is growing tired and the pain is starting to turn to a cold numbness. “I’m alright,” I smiled, reaching out with my other arm and touching her sweet face. “I love you.”
“Drake,” Lacy says, “Help!” she screams.
Footsteps make their way over to me and I feel myself being lifted up. Lacy begins to fade away and I don’t like it. “Stop, I need Lacy,” I yelled out.
“Drake, Lacy is fine. We need to get you to the hospital now. You are losing a lot of blood,” an officer named Tim says. I’ve known him for years and have always trusted him, but right now, until Lacy is with me, I won’t trust anyone.
“Drake, let them help you,” Axel breathes next to me. “We will make sure Lacy is safe,” he promises.
Paramedics storm the building next, and I am lifted onto a bed. From the corner of my eye, I see a paramedic working to untie Lacy with the help of my brothers. I don’t bother asking about Josh or his guys right now. They don’t matter. Knowing that Lacy is safe and not hurt is all that matters right now.
I can feel my eyes trying to close as my body is unable to fight the blood loss any longer. “Stay with us, Drake,” Storm yelled, as he grabs my hand.
“Lacy,” I whisper, as the world begins to fade around me.
“Drake, I am fine. Go let them help you. I love you,” she shouts, and then the world fades to black.

My eyes flutter open and a white, blinding light burns my eyes. I wince, looking around and realize I am somewhere unfamiliar. White walls surround me and machines beep somewhere in the room. I go to move, but IV’s sticking out of my arm prohibit me from moving at all.
My eyes begin to adjust and that’s when I realize take in the scene before me. I am inside of a hospital room, but what is more shocking is that the room is overrun with Ravens. I spot my brothers, Ashton, Seth, and the clubhouse members all standing around. Several of them are spilling out into the hallway. I hear an angry voice telling them they have to leave, but no one dares to budge.
I feel something on my hand and looked down to see Lacy’s small hand inside of mine. I smile, as I realize she is asleep. Her head is nestled in the crook of one arm, her long hair is lying all around her face, and her body is hunched over as she sits in a large, blue chair.
“Lacy?” I ask, my voice weak and dry.
She startles at the sound of her name. Her gorgeous eyes open and she takes me in. Tears brim her eyes as she sees me awake. “Drake!” she gushes.
Leaning forward, Lacy wraps her arms around my neck and hugs me. She is crying and kissing me while she says my name over and over again.
“I thought I would lose you,” I say, my voice breaking with emotion.
“Never,” Lacy says, stopping her kisses and locking her eyes with mine. “You are mine forever.”
I struggle to move, but somehow, I am able to maneuver myself so that I can reach her lips. When I get close enough to Lacy’s face, I see the cut on her lip and the bruise on her cheek. A new form of rage fills me and I fall back onto the bed.
“What did he do to you?” I ask.
Lacy touches her lip and then her cheek. She smiles at me and just shakes her head. “Josh tried to hurt me, but the only thing that could truly hurt me would be to lose you,” she says, before kissing me sweetly on the lips.
I want to jump out of this bed and search for that bastard, but I know there’s not much I can do. I have my arm in a cast and pain shoots up and down my side.
“So, what happened?” I asked, now addressing the rest of the room.
I respected the fact that everyone allowed me and Lacy to have our moment, but now, I needed answers.
My brothers all look at one another, but it is Axel who speaks up. Ivy is holding his arm, but she smiles over at me to offer her support.
“You were shot when you tackled Josh. Thankfully, it was in your arm. The doctors were able to remove the bullet and you have a few stitches. Josh was arrested on scene and last I heard, he is looking at drug trafficking charges, kidnapping, and attempted murder. He is going away forever,” Axel finishes.
Wait, how did the police know about the drugs? A lot of information was just thrown at me and I need a moment to digest it all.
“Who told the police about the drugs? Are we in trouble?” I ask.
Shaking her head, Lacy takes the initiative to speak up. “Thankfully, Josh still had my phone and the recorder on him. The police know everything. They have the testimony of all the Ravens and Josh’s goons all told the truth to shorten their own sentences,” Lacy says.
“So, it’s over?” I ask.
“It's over, baby,” Lacy says, leaning back down and kissing me.
I couldn’t believe it wall over now. After the reign of terror Josh had instilled in all of us, it was all over now. He was gone forever and we could move on with our lives. Looking around the room, I realized I was surrounded by my family. Everyone I loved and cared for was inside this room. My whole fucking world. And the center of my universe was holding my hand.
