Chapter 30

Lacy

In the weeks that followed, we all went back to our normal lives. Well, at least close enough to normal. Drake only spent a few days in the hospital and was released to come home. He was working with a physical therapist to make sure his arm was perfect again. But, knowing Drake, not even a gunshot wound would stop him from riding his bike.

He was back working at the bar and riding the day after he was released from the hospital. I went back to work too, once the bruises and cuts healed. While I was still dealing with nightmares in the aftermath of Josh’s terror, I found security in knowing he was in prison for the rest of his life.

Drake stayed true to his word and took me to a romantic night at the Hollows Cove hotel. He rented a large suite where we soaked in a whirlpool tub, ordered a ridiculous amount of room service, and just rested. We both realized we had gone through hell and back and more than ever, we needed this night away. I was thankful Drake had thought about the idea weeks ago. It sure did come in handy now.

Even Drake’s cousin, Ashton, had moved back to Hollow’s Cove and was helping out at the shop with Axel and filled in for Drake at the bar until he was able to return.

Now, I was just enjoying living with Drake.

“Hey, you ready?” Drake asked, as he reached his hand out to me.

I was sitting at the kitchen table, looking through a fashion magazine. I looked up and saw the large, burly man that I had fallen hopelessly in love with. There wasn’t anything that I wouldn’t do for Drake, and I think we both knew how true that idea really was.

I stood up and took his hand. He led me out of our apartment and into the parking lot. We got on his bike and began to drive toward the one spot I had grown to know and love. As the wind swept through my hair, I smiled to myself. Being on this bike with Drake was perfection.

Drake pulled up along the gravel drive and parked his bike at what would soon be our property. Drake had wanted to buy the land for us, but after much arguing, he agreed to let me help him purchase it. I mean, it was for both of us. I should be able to pitch in financially, too.

So, I did.

Holding my hand, Drake led me to the top of the hill on the property. The sun was starting to set in the evening sky and splashes of reds, oranges, and purples painted the sky. It was breathtaking and exactly where I wanted to spend the rest of my life with Drake.

“I was thinking that when they start breaking ground next week, we could come out here once a day,” Drake said.

My heart swelled with joy at the mention of the building of our home. I couldn't wait to start designing and decorating what would be our forever home.

“There is something else I think we should discuss, too,” Drake says.

I watch in complete shock as he kneels down onto one knee and looks up at me with so much love and admiration in his eyes, I can’t control my emotions. I gasped, looking down as Drake reaches into his pocket and pulls out a silver, diamond ring. The light from the sun reflects off of diamond and it is breathtaking.

“Drake,” I breathe, as I stared down at the man of my dreams.

“Lacy from the moment I met you, I knew that one day you would become my wife. I have loved you since the first time I laid eyes on you. And that love has only grown. When I thought that I was going to lose you, I felt like my world shattered before me. I could handle anything in this world--except losing you. I need you by my side. I need to wake up every day with you by my side. I need to spend the rest of my life serving you and protecting you. I want to have babies with you and grow old with you, right here in this spot,” he says. Placing the ring on my finger, he uses his other hand to brush away a lone tear that has escaped my eye. “Lacy, will you marry me?” he asks.

I am unable to hold back any longer. I throw my arms around his neck and crush my lips to his. We fall onto the grass, laughing and kissing as I can’t seem to get enough of his man.

“Is that a yes?” Drake laughs.

“Yes!” I scream.

Drake rolls us over and he hoovers his massive body overtop of me. He looks down at me and stares deep into my eyes. “Lacy, I love you more than anything in this world. I would have given up my life for you,” he breathes.

I run my hand along his jaw and admire the beauty before me. “Drake, I’m yours forever. I love you and can’t wait to spend the rest of our lives together.”

Drake leans down and kisses me. At first, it is slow and sensual but soon, it grows into a hungry, ravenous need.

Our hands and lips roam over each other’s bodies. Clothes are shredded and moans escape as we dive into a blissful act of love making. We spent the rest of the evening and long into the night making love until we were one complete soul and entity.

My life had evolved from a young, wild, and carefree college girl into a woman with a future husband. I had faced danger head-on and thought I might lose everything I loved in this world. I graduate college in a few short months but my life is already becoming insanely busy. Blaze and Remy shocked all of us when they eloped right after the accident. Blaze said life was too short to wait any longer to marry Remy. Axel and Ivy are getting married next month and they have a baby on the way. Aspen, Lacy, and Remy are going to be bridesmaids and I just know, they will get their dream weddings soon, too.

Thankfully, my story has a happy ending and I will only continue to build those happy endings with Drake. I fell hard for a motorcycle riding, bartending, brooding tough guy and my life has never been more perfect. I know that our lives will be filled with love and happiness and of course; The Ravens. For us, the best is yet to come.
