Chapter 28

Lacy

I can’t believe what I am seeing.

Drake is standing in the doorway. I swear, seeing him standing there with his chest puffed out, anger storming his eyes, and his muscles flexed in anger--I fell even harder in love with him.

I see the killing instinct radiating off of Drake as he breathes heavily, watching Josh hold the gun to my head.

I want to call out to Drake. To reach for him, but I know that would be a dangerous move. I tried it my way and well...look where that got me. Now, I have to put my faith in Drake just like I should have done from the beginning.

“Josh, I need you to put the gun down,” Drake says, carefully keeping a close eye on Josh.

“No. You took everything away from me, and now, I am going to take everything away from you. Starting with Lacy,” Josh says nervously.

For the first time, I see that Josh is scared. He knows he is surrounded by the Raven’s and that this isn’t going the way he had planned. But still, he must know he has the upper hand.

“We can work this out,” Drake offers, taking a small step toward us.

My heart lunges in my chest, fearful of what Josh might do to Drake. I shake my head, trying to deter Drake from moving again.

Josh notices my movement and laughs. “See, even Lacy here is smart enough to know that I am not kidding around. I am going to end you,” Josh says to Drake.

Suddenly, the wail of police sirens can be heard in the distance. Josh’s face goes pale and a smile appears over Drake’s face.

“I think you are the one who is about to be ended,” Drake says. “The police are on their way. The warehouse is surrounded by the Ravens and all of our club members. Drop the gun and get the hell out of here before the police come storming in here,” Drake demands.

Josh looks between us as he begins to consider his options. “If I go down tonight, I am still going to take Lacy with me,” Josh says. He pushes the gun harder into my forehead and I wince and cry out from the pain.

A loud commotion grows closer to the doors, and I realize everything is about to come to an end, just like Josh said.

Drake grows anxious and I see him moving from side-to-side. “Josh, I am begging you to let her go. If you want to destroy the Raven’s, then kill me. I’ll do anything--give you anything, if you just let Lacy go,” Drake pleads.

“No, Drake,” I cry out. My eyes never leave Josh or the gun, as I try to get Drake to leave. “Drake, I love you more than the world. I am so sorry I did this to us, but please, walk back out those doors. Save yourself. If I have to die to save you, then I will die a happy woman,” I cry, hoping Drake will hear me.

“Lacy, no,” Drake screams.

Without warning, a group of Raven Clubhouse members comes storming through the door with several police officers behind them. In that instant, Josh takes his eyes off of me and takes a slight step back. Sensing this is the only chance I will get, I kick Josh as he moves, tripping him and causing him to fall.

I fall over, the chair unsteady and the movement causing me to tumble over. I hear a shot fire and everything goes black.
