Chapter 31

JAX

I leanagainst the corner railing on the third-floor balcony with a now warm beer in my hand. It's not like me to not down a beer when it's in my hand. Of course I know what's really going on here - I just try to play it off.

The balcony door opens and out steps two girls.

Hip hugging jeans, shirts that are missing the bottom half, one blonde hair, one brown hair, both with blue eyes that are fuzzy from the beer they've been drinking.

They see me. They smile.

"There you are," one of them says. "We've been looking for you."

"I'm sort of hiding right now."

"Too much attention in there?" the other asks.

I grin and nod.

The cut on my face and the stitches are like flies to honey for some reason.

Everyone wants the story.

But these college girls… goddamn… they want me in a way I've never experienced before.

Maybe I'm just giving out some kind of vibe.

I'm tired. I'm miserable. I'm always in a bad mood anymore. And now I've got stitches.

A sexy wound from playing hockey…

"I'm Meghan," the blonde says. "This is my best friend, Aria."

"Do you want to hear the story of how I got stitches?"

They both shake their heads.

"We were there," Aria says. "At the game. We saw it."

"It looked awful what happened," Meghan says.

"I deserved it," I say. "Don't tell anyone I said that."

"Nobody deserves that," Meghan says.

"Believe me, I did," I say. "I was an asshole for that entire game. It's all part of it though."

"Hey, I'll make you a deal," Aria says. "If you throw your beer bottle and hit the balcony across the street… I'll kiss Meghan."

I smile. "Oh?"

Meghan moves closer to me. "Even if you miss, she can still kiss me. As long as you watch."

I extend my left hand out over the baloney and drop the beer bottle.

I don't throw it.

I don't attempt to hit the balcony across the street.

"I missed," I say.

"That's okay," Meghan says.

She and Aria suddenly look at each other.

They both start to giggle. They're blushing.

I know what this is and I know right where this is going.

Should be any guy's dream.

Two beautiful girls ready to start kissing with the intention of grabbing me to join in on the fun. Then find a bedroom and…

"You'll have to excuse me," I say as I walk between Meghan and Aria.

"Where you going, Jax?" one of them ask.

I don't respond.

I go back inside the apartment.

The music is loud and there are way too many people inside, partying away.

Someone hands me a drink.

I put it down.

I push my way to the kitchen and get a beer.

Then I leave the party all together.

Once outside, I twist the cap off the fresh bottle of beer and flick it into a bush.

I hear someone call out my name and I look up.

Meghan and Aria are still on the balcony.

"You're missing out!" they both yell at the same time.

Then right on cue, in sync, they both lift their shirts and bras.

Four beautiful breasts are staring down at me.

Two bigger than the other. One nipple pierced.

I just keep walking.

I take a sip of the beer.

I've never been a fan of closure and I've never seemed to really experience it in my life. Truthfully, it never bothered me until now.

And how ironic this stupid feeling I have…

… is all for someone who is already in a relationship.
