Chapter Sixteen: Park

I t's Sunday, and I straighten up the kitchen and make khao soi for lunch while Spin plays with Anya. Bass dropped him off an hour ago, and Spin insisted on playing dolls with Anya while I get some things done. Food ready, I put a load of laundry in the wash and return to the living room to find Spin making cute voices for Anya's dolls, sending her into fits of giggles.

I shake my head at the cuteness—hers and his.

I can't stop thinking of that question he asked me yesterday. I want to ask him about it but can't with Anya around.

After we eat, I suggest she go lie down in her room for a while and read. I'm surprised when she falls asleep before she's finished one book. I might worry she caught the virus I just had if she didn't just scarf down two helpings of khao soi. It's more likely playing with Spin wore her out.

I join Spin in the living room where he's studying his script and waste no time beating around the bush .

"Why did you ask me that question when we were texting yesterday?"

Spin's cheeks get pink. "Oh. Um, well, Bass said that's what he did with this guy he used to date, and I didn't want to admit I didn't know what it was. He and Cushion were in a heated discussion, and I didn't have time to explain. But I, uh, looked it up when I got home."

I nod. "Okay. I would have told you, but you caught me off guard."

"Yeah. I guess it did seem to come out of nowhere. Kind of crazy how it happens that my character pretty much does that in the love scene we're about to film."

Our eyes meet and the moment hangs suspended between us.

Clearing my throat, I say, "Right. Anything in particular you're worried about for these scenes this week? P'Big and Khun Aat will be coaching us."

"I'm kind of worried about the scene where Boom cries about his cat that died while he was gone. I'm not sure I can cry on cue," Spin admits.

"You did great with the last emotional scene you did," I remind him.

"I didn't have to actually cry in that one. All my tears came afterward, when I was having trouble pulling myself out of it."

"Hm." I think about it. "Have you ever had a pet die?"

Spin shakes his head. "Pa wouldn't let us have pets, not even fish. Nok begged him for a dog once, but he refused. I was kind of glad he did."

"Why?"

"I think Pa would have been mean to it."

I swallow. "Was he mean to you and Nok?"

Looking away, Spin says, "He could be. Anyway, I'm worried about the crying part. "

"Find something in your memories that makes you sad and think about it hard before you have to cry. That's what works for me. I, uh, think about the day my dad and stepmom died."

Spin looks so upset by that, I wish I didn't tell him.

He nods. "Thanks for the advice."

"Do you want to try it now?" I ask.

"You mean crying?"

"Yeah. See if you can do it by just thinking about something sad."

Taking a deep breath, Spin nods. "Okay."

I sit quietly while he prepares himself. It isn't long before his lower lip trembles and a fat tear rolls down his cheek.

"Wow, it worked!" Spin says, grinning through his tears. "Thanks, P'Park."

We read through a few scenes, discussing different ways we might say our lines. When we come to the scene when Khao pins Boom against the wall and kisses him, we agree to try it all the way through without breaking character, no matter what happens.

Khao (as Boom turns to walk away from him): That's the problem with you, Boom. You never take what I say seriously.

Boom (stopping, face showing surprise and consternation. Slowly, he turns to face Khao): What are you talking about? I always take you seriously .

Khao (getting riled up): No, you don't. You might listen to what I say, but then you go and do whatever it is you wanted to do in the first place. What I think doesn't matter to you, Boom. You care more about what— (He stops, catching himself.)

Boom: About what? Finish what you were going to say.

Khao: Nine. You care about what he thinks.

Boom (frowning): Of course I care about what Nine thinks. He's our manager.

Khao: He likes you.

Boom (genuinely surprised): No, he doesn't—not like you mean .

Khao (advancing on Boom, who backs up): Yes, he does. You can't possibly be so clueless.

Boom (stumbling over his words just as he's stumbling backward to keep space between them. His back hits the wall): I can't just ignore what my superior says.

Khao (grabbing Boom by the arms, sneering): And what am I?

Boom: My coworker?

Khao: (staring into Boom's eyes): I want to be much more than that.

(The moment stretches as Khao slowly lowers his face to Boom's. Khao kisses Boom, the kiss becoming more and more passionate until the two men are stripping off each other's clothes. They back into a bedroom, falling down on the bed together, Khao the obvious aggressor. Boom is reticent, but as the kissing continues, he lights up with passion, eventually flipping Khao onto his back and straddling him.)

Always when I do a scene, I become that character but there's maybe twenty percent of me that remains myself, in the background, an observer. But right now, as Spin and I act out the scene, I forget myself entirely. Deep in character, I hurt . Boom's been ignoring me and I'm so fucking jealous of the attention Nine's been giving him. Fuck Nine. Boom is mine.

Our tongues invade each other's mouths in a slick duel for dominance. The tiny part of me that clings to the knowledge that this is acting , for fuck's sake, is quickly losing control, and Spin seems to be right there with me. We didn't discuss beforehand whether or not we'd use tongue, we just did. Now, the way he thrusts while we kiss against me ignites a fire in my veins.

What little sensibility I have left shouts at me that I'm the senior here and the more experienced actor. I'm responsible during this situation.

Pulling my lips from Spin's, I turn my head to the side in an attempt to stop this madness, but Spin buries his face in my neck and runs his tongue over the sensitive skin, making me shiver. I'm quickly losing the ability to think but make a last ditch effort to push him away. When a needy whine escapes his beautiful lips, now swollen from my kisses, I accept defeat and pin him under me in one swift move.

Script completely forgotten, I attempt to touch my lips to every bared piece of Spin's silky flesh, eliciting sexy little moans and gasps for air from him that make me crazy. When I lave my tongue over his nipple, he pants and bucks up against me, grinding our cocks together through the material of our pants, sending sweet waves of pleasure radiating outward from my groin to my extremities. Even my scalp tingles.

We moan in unison. Bending his knees and clamping his hands on my ass, Spin pushes into each circular grind of my hips. I can feel his heart racing against my chest and hear his ragged breathing just before he stiffens and moans, grinding his pelvis hard against mine, fingers digging into my ass as he throws his head back against the pillow, his eyes squeezed shut in pleasure. Heat radiates from his groin, and the realization that he's creamed his pants pulls the pin from my grenade, and I explode.

It takes several long seconds for my soul and body to realign after that orgasm, and when I open my eyes, I find Spin looking at me with a mixture of guilt and concern. I smile, and he relaxes a little.

"We, uh, kind of went off script," he says quietly, and it's such an understatement, I can't help but laugh.

"We really did," I say. "But look at it this way–better here between the two of us than in front of the cameras and crew."

Spin's eyes widen and he swallows. "Yeah, I guess that's true."

Slipping off the bed, he retrieves our discarded shirts from outside the bedroom door and tosses mine to me. His phone's ringtone plays in the other room, and he disappears to get it.

Shirt on and buttoned, I stand and survey the mess of jumbled bedspread and pillows.

Spin returns seconds later. "Bass is here to pick me up. I'm just going to, uh, clean up a bit in the bathroom on my way out. See you tomorrow, P'Park."

When he leaves the room, I grab some tissues from the box beside my bed and do some cleaning up of my own.

It's only after I hear the front door open and then shut at Spin's departure that I remember my sister .

God, what if Anya had walked in on what just happened?

Fortunately, she's still asleep in her room, but the what if's still torture me.

I am so fucked.
