37. THE LAST LOGAN

THE LAST LOGAN
Caleb
I push the door to our house open and Arch follows me inside. We find Jaden and the man of the hour watching a boxing match. He doesn't turn, but Jaden does.
"How is she?" Jaden asks with keen interest.
"You should have come to find out yourself," Archer answers scornfully.
"Not in the mood, Arch." Jaden turns to me. "How is she?"
"She's okay," I answer plopping down on the armchair.
Harvey still doesn't give air to our conversation. His focus solely on the TV.
"So, are you gonna tell us what the deal with Fay is?" I ask.
He doesn't answer, but a small smile graces the corner of his lips.
"Harvey…" Archer growls.
"Jaden?" I look at him.
"Harvey?" Jaden looks at him.
He gets up without giving any of us answers and heads to the kitchen.
"Harvey…" Archer calls after him.
"You don't need to keep calling my name, I'm right here. Say what you want to say," he answers after grabbing a beer in the fridge and walks back.
"What. Is. Going on. With you. And Fay?" I ask again.
"She's my girlfriend, why?" He has a small smile on his face.
"What are you doing?" Archer asks, suspicion evident.
"Jaden, is it true?" I ask.
"I don't the fuck know. He hasn't told me anything. But he's lying about dating her," he says.
"And how would you know that?" Harvey sits back in his seat.
"Just a few days ago you looked at Summer like you wanted to drink her bath water. So, I ask again, what's your fucking deal?" Jaden says.
He shrugs. "And that's over now." He pauses, dramatically. "You know I think Fay is just the kind of girl I need."
He is taunting us.
"What the fuck are you talking about?" Jaden says.
"Need for what?" I say.
"Operation make Summer jealous and a little payback for Logan." He relaxes back on the couch.
Our mouths are on the floor and I don't know if we want to slap him, or fist bump him. I mean, I love Summer and I'm glad we are moving in the right direction, but the Logan situation was crazy.
"Harvey, you will stop what you are doing with her." Arch comes in with the hard, disgusted voice.
Okay, so maybe only I and Jaden want to fist bump Harv a little. Not that I'm surprised of course. Summers soldier boy is always ready.
"Looks like you are on your own with that opinion, Arch," he says with a smirk.
"Hey, don't include me in your fucked up plans. I am with Arch. You are going to fuck this up for us with her," Jaden barks.
Okay, so maybe it's just me and Harv alone in the crooked place.
Harvey just shrugs before he gulps his beer down and his throat bops.
Arch turns to me. "You are not with him, right?"
"Of course, I'm not…" I pause. "But maybe make her a little jealous. But you have to stop it quickly. She is not happy about it, she's fucking pissed. So, hurry and sort your shit. Oh, and make things right with her again. I am tired of this shit."
"I'll stop when I want to," Harv says.
"I'm gonna tell her then and then your little plan will blow up in your face., Jaden threatens.
Harvey's face twists with dark rage. "Summer paraded that guy in our face for months."
"She was single," Arch defends her.
"And?" Harvey pauses. "Was she really single? She was always fucking ours and she went and fucked that guy. And now it must be smooth sailing because she caught him cheating on her?" He stands up, staring at all of us down. "Was she even going to dump him before then?"
"I won't tolerate this shit from you, Harv." Arch stands.
"Oh, you won't? Like she didn't, right? My fucking girlfriend left me at a dark fucking time in my life when I needed her and went ahead and fucked a fucking asshole and I'm supposed to just chill? Nah."
The outburst catches us all of guard. Is more going on here?
"What's going on, Harvey?" Jaden asks the obvious question.
"Fuck all of you." He turns on his heel and heads to the door.
That was plenty.
Definitely sure that had little to do with anything he just said.
"Does anyone know what's going on with him?" Archer asks.
The room falls in silence.
"Family issues?" Jaden asks.
"I haven't heard anything."
"Neither have I." Archer sits back down.

Summer
I toss and turn in the bed, very regretful of sending Arch and Cal away. I thought I needed space, but space is making me think. And think about things I have no business thinking about. A knock on my door makes me hurry and go to the door, hoping it's one of them here to cuddle.
The last face I wanted to see stands on the other side. Logan pushes my door and walks past me without being let in.
"I'm gonna call security." I turn but I don't close the door. With everything I've seen of him lately I know I am not safe alone with him especially when he now has no reason to be nice, I'm not his girlfriend anymore.
"Won't you just calm down," he says tiredly. He looks worse than I saw him today. I stop myself as I am headed to feeling sorry for him. He's a piece of shit, Su. Don't forget.
"What do you want, Logan?"
"So, I'm back to Logan?"
"I was saving pig for later." I fold my arms over my chest.
He follows the move slowly and I feel exposed a little and with that comes being uncomfortable with his gaze and stare. I've always been uncomfortable with it. From the very beginning I was kidding myself with him. It was never going to work.
"I guess I deserve that," he says his eyes finding mine once more. But I hold his gaze. "Su, I fucked up, okay?" he pauses. "But you fucked up too and I am putting it aside as a mistake. Can't we…close that chapter and work on us?"
Is he delusional? I'm pretty sure he saw me kissing Caleb and Archer today. This is giving serial killer vibes I don't want to lie. Because there's no way.
"You know that's no longer possible." I answer.
"They don't even love you. They are just fucking you because you are a good time. I love you. I want you. Why the fuck can't you see that?"
"I think you need to leave." I've heard enough.
"It was one mistake. How many of yours have I forgiven?" he raises his voice.
"Was it once?"
He didn't expect my question.
"Look, it doesn't matter. It's over. And it's best for both of us. We weren't gelling anyway," I say.
"Fuck that, Summer. This isn't over."
"You are insane."
He stalks closer to me. "I am not insane," he says through clenched teeth. He stands very close to me, invading my space. "What the fuck do they have that I don't, Summer?"
I don't answer.
"Fucking tell me!"
"I don't love you! Okay, there. I love them and I don't love you. I tried but I feel nothing for you."
He shakes his head. "It couldn't have all been a lie. All those times…"
"It was." I hold his gaze firmly. I know I must do this. "I'm sorry. We were never meant to happen. I was in a bad space and I…I used you to get back at them."
His fists whooshes past my face connecting with the wall behind me as he roars like a fucking animal, and I feel it shake as I scream. I am terrified of moving. He pants, looking like he can do anything to me right now.
He looks to be feeling everything. Rage, pain, fear. There is fear in his eyes. And disbelief. We stand there for a few moments. He doesn't move, neither does he seem to want to. He has me caged in.
I hear doors open and feet shuffling outside.
"Is everything alright?" I hear a girl who lives a few doors down. Through my peripheral I see her peep in my door and see the situation. Logan has a devils look in his eyes and he is breathing heavy.
"Get the fuck out of here," he barks.
"Let her go or I'm calling security," she says even as I hear her trembling.
"Do you know who the fuck I am?" he barks to the girl, who luckily doesn't fold. She stands stronger, and I am glad someone is.
"You'll be more famous if you get arrested for assault," she says.
I can't move an inch. This man here is not the guy I dated for months.
"Summer, baby, let's work this out." I see the distress in his eyes, he knows I'm gone.
"It's over, Logan. Just leave. I'll get a restraining order if you come my way again," I say sternly.
Logan's eyes have a mix of anger and regret but he straightens. "You are making the biggest mistake of your life. I could have given you the world." Then he leaves.
