MY GIRLFRIEND, SUMMER

Harvey

Although I would much prefer it to be me upstairs with Summer right now, looking into Logan's sorry face as he sweats, knowing in his gut – because he knows – that Summer is probably getting railed upstairs but there is no way he can prove it, or anything he can do about it, is definitely a close second. So close. The satisfaction I feel right now is indescribable.

I tilt my head as we stand in front of Logan and his friends.

"Where the fuck is she?" he snaps.

"Who?" The joy in Jaden's voice rivals exactly what I feel inside.

"My fucking girlfriend, I know she came here. Where is she?"

"We don't know your girlfriend here, Logan. Are you sure she's not back at the party?" Caleb asks, he sounds bored.

"I know she fucking came here!"

"And how are you certain of that?"

"Is he fucking her right now? I swear to god I will kill that psycho if he touches her."

I can't help the chuckle that rises up from me. It's involuntary because Arch is probably fucking her brains out, and I'd like to see Logan try to touch him. He needs to accept that she's gone and accept it today.

"That's a threat, Lo ," Jaden taunts.

His nostrils flare. Landon touches his shoulder, and he shrugs it off. It's a bit sad because this fool really has feelings for her, but he should have heeded our warnings. Summer is ours and she was always going to come back to us. He really should have fucking listened.

"Let me go upstairs so I can see you have nothing to hide." The man reeks of desperation, I grimace. How the fuck was Summer with this guy for so long?

"No can do, buddy. We have bodies up there. You know how it is," Jaden states.

"I will fucking kill him. If he fucked her, he is dying and the little voices in his head will be the least of his worries," Logan threatens before he turns, and they leave.

Trevor lingers behind, shaking his head. "You tell that whore to never come near my friend agai—"

My fist connects with his jaw. Motherfucker.

Jaden gives him another when he staggers back, and Caleb punches his nose, and he falls with a thud. His friends return, but it's too late, their buddy is down. They jump to us, but we subdue them easily.

"What the fuck is going on here?" Archer's deadly voice drops the temperature by a few degrees.

But because Logan is a fool, he shrugs himself off Caleb and takes a few angry steps to Arch. None of us get in his way because Arch won't even sweat to fuck him up, it's his funeral.

"Where is she?" Logan demands.

"Who?" Archer says coolly as he stands on the last step – covering the way upstairs – but I can see the beast is barely hanging on. He is irritated. No, he is incensed.

"My girlfriend, Summer, where is she?"

"I don't know about your girlfriend, but Summer is asleep. Do you need anything?"

The room flattens. None of us expected that. But Arch is not in a playing mood.

"I am taking her home, wake her up."

"I don't think that's going to happen. Now, if that's all, please fuck off before you wake her. She's exhausted."

Jaden is the first one to burst out laughing and Caleb and I follow. Archer is a motherfucker.

Logan stands there like he just lost his mind.

"You fucked her?" his voice is barely audible as his body trembles slightly, hands in fists.

"Man, let's leave." Landon tries to pull him away.

"No, I'm not leaving without her." Logan widens his stance. This guy really is insane. We are going to have to keep her away from him. "Did you fuck her?"

Arch tilts his head to the side slowly. "And if I did, what are you going to do about it?"

Logan launches himself at Arch, but his friends hold him.

"No, let him. Let him step." Arch steps forward and I see the sheer terror in Landon's eyes.

Trevor just tries to pull his friend back.

"I should have known she was just a slut like—"

Archer moves so fast, blood flies in the air as Logan falls together with all his friends. Arch gets on top of him and I move to pick up Landon and drag him out. That fucker is on his own. And all of them need to leave here.

"Fucking stop him, he's going to kill him," Landon yells.

"Well, you should have told him to mind himself." I drop him outside.

The others bring the rest and Arch drags Logan before he pushes him out, surprisingly he is in good shape, just touching his neck. Arch must have held himself back. Lucky bastard.

"You'd do well to not cross this threshold again, or those little illustrious football careers you dream of will remain in your head."

"We aren't scared of you, assholes." Logan holds his bleeding nose. This motherfucker just isn't quitting, is he?

"McKenzie, if you say one more thing, I don't care if Summer wakes up, I will sleep in a jail cell," Archer says.

"Get the fuck out of here." I bark at them, and they drag each other as they get in Logan's car. We stand and watch them drive off. Fuckers.

Jaden sighs. "Was she asleep?"

"Yeah."

"Probably up now," Caleb says and we walk in.

We all climb the stairs behind one another as we go check on her. We find her breathing evenly.

"How is she still asleep?"

"My room does keep a lot of sound out."

"Or you must have knocked her out," Caleb comments.

Arch has a smug smirk on his face, and I want to punch him.

"Well leave, assholes, before she wakes and finds you here."

"You just want her to yourself."

"Of course, I do."

"I fucking hate you," I say.

"Yeah, I love you too," he whispers with a grin as he shoves us all out and closes the door. We hear the lock twist.

"Motherfucker," Jaden says.

"Lucky asshole," Caleb says.

We follow after each other downstairs and plop on the couches, and I pick up the TV remote.

"We are sitting like three old men in front of the TV on countrywide Halloween night celebration," Jaden says, taking a beer from the ice bucket on top of the coffee table.

We planned to have a party ourselves but that all got canceled and moved to Davon and Martin's house after Summer showed up. The girl still has all our balls by her fucking hands, and I'd say it was disgusting if I wasn't in love with her.

It was a no brainer. She looked upset when she came, and I would bet my last dollar that it had to do with that fucker. I wonder what happened.

But I guess Arch will tell us everything in the morning.

"I am hungry, pizza?" Caleb asks as we settle on a rerun of a basketball game.

"Yeah, sure."

I lean back with a beer.

"What do you think Logan did to her?" Caleb asks.

"Who knows." I can feel Jaden's shrug without seeing it.

"We need to have a sit-down with her tomorrow. She needs to leave him," Caleb says.

Archer

Sleep has evaded me all night as my mind won't stop running, worrying. What happened between her and Logan? Did they fight again?

They were supposed to go to the party today and she said she was still looking for the right time to dump him. It's taken a lot of control on my end watching her go back to him. But I don't know how much longer I can. I am fine with us taking it slow, but Logan needs to fucking jump out of the picture already.

I wonder what happened. In different parts of the night her face has twisted in frowns, and it reminds me of her face earlier. And I can't even guess what it was. She just got back home, she should be over the moon.

When we talked on the phone last night, she was happy. Lighter than she's been in a while. The trip home was good for her, and I haven't laughed so much as she told me her nana and little sister's shenanigans. The Baileys are a great family unit. Hardly seen in upper class families.

It made me miss the dinners when I'd go. It felt great being the main boyfriend her nana recognized. I always found it interesting that her parents didn't have a problem with all of us dating her but letting her nana know was the hard no.

But even with all that, Summer still has an amazing family. Supportive. And though most of the rest of our parents are around but none are as warm as the Baileys.

So, it is surprising that she is upset right after coming from all that. I couldn't push her earlier. She just needed my affirmation. It sucks because I hate whatever made her feel that way. But for the life of me I can't imagine what it is.

She must have heard something or even seen something in the little time she landed to when she came to me. My eyes land on her phone that is face down on the bedside table.

I won't invade her privacy, but I do wish I could. She would know if I did. I just need to wait until the morning.
