Chapter 45

THE FAE

A new low existed. To the point that I even missed Enzo. Something had to be done.

I shut the call off after my long-winded recap. I had left Maya a message every night, notating everything the three of us did. Even keeping her updated on Elliot who stayed in Oregon.

My phone vibrated before I dropped it in my pocket.

“Are you two moving in with me soon?”

I set my elbows on my desk and leaned forward.

Elliot had purchased a condo near the UB base when he didn’t remain in training. He hadn’t wanted to return to Arizona where Beckett and I currently resided because he wanted to be close to Maya. I understood, since it was the same thing I wanted, but I still needed to oversee house renovations.

“We’re almost done with the contractors, so we should be able to stay by next visiting weekend.”

“Okay, also I’m thinking of buying Maya a car as her graduation present.”

“Send me the invoice when you’re done so I can keep track.”

“You and your spreadsheets.”

I hummed and ended the call.

A text dinged. Another reminder to change the bank beneficiary.

Shit, I needed to handle that. My list of to-dos grew by the day. I pinched the bridge of my nose.

She’d been gone for two weeks, and I was already in this sorry state. I’d never been so distracted, and Claudia’s dramatics didn’t help. Her and pitiful Danny stayed here but continued to avoid each other like the plague. Beckett and I were not matchmakers, so they should have gone elsewhere if they needed a gentle nudge. The most current drama was because Danny threw in her face that she fucked Beckett. Then he’d gone as far as admitting that he’d liked Maya. Their tiffs were a headache.

I rifled through Maya’s paperwork, trying to get the estate that had been left to her in order. Lucian’s wealth neared mine, which meant it was significant—and he’d left her everything. The sister hadn’t been wrong when she stated the ancient dragon cared for Maya more.

I’d compiled our collective income into a spreadsheet to keep track of it all. We were collectively, exponentially wealthy. Money would never be an issue, especially with the real estate under my name. Apartment buildings, condos, homes . . . all things I owned.

That reminded me to reach out to my leasing office about the place in Colorado. I pulled out my electronic organizer to make sure I hadn’t missed anything. No, I’d left that task to Beckett.

Teaching Beckett the ropes of the business hadn’t been a grueling task, but he wasn’t the one to send to a face-to-face meeting. We’d learned that after he’d almost torn into one of the general managers of the south Texas apartment buildings.

Beckett would have as much say-so as me, so I needed him to understand everything and know it well. Although accommodating, he was still crotchety.

Next time I saw Maya, I’d discuss which income revenues she’d like to keep or if she’d like to invest in anything. I always looked for ways to expand and as immortals, we would have all the time in the world.

Something to look forward to with my beautiful, sexy mate.

Shouting echoed through the cracked door. Dear God, the love birds were at it again.
