Chapter Forty-Eight
Cartan
"But that's only two," I pointed out to Tyros, who nodded.
"I'm aware."
"Then where by the Gods is the third?"
Tyros shook his head. "This was all the scouts brought back. They have been keeping an eye on them for a while."
"Why? I ordered them seized and brought here!"
"Well, it might be complicated with the eldest." He coughed uncomfortably and scratched his neck.
"Why?"
He reached out, pointing lower on the paper, and I read the report before reclining my chair in my tent, carefully examining every detail the scouts had provided.
"I see..."
"Will you tell her?" he asked.
"I will, but not tonight. However, we need to locate the third. She has been gone for far too long without anyone knowing where she is. I fear the worst," I admitted.
"We are looking. I promise you, High Alpha, we have everyone searching for her."
"The second one I want brought here," I informed him. "If she is on this side of the ocean, she should be relatively easy to capture."
"Shall I inform the other High Alphas?" Tyros asked.
"I believe we must. They will be furious if they slip through my grasp once more."
Tyros smiled a little. "At least you don't have another Omega to distract you."
"No, but the sisters are Omegas too, and from what I have now experienced, I know how hard they are to resist," I teased, hearing Tyros chuckle.
"I will let the other High Alphas know," Tyros said. He was about to turn away when my Omega stepped in, dressed in a dark-green stola, her hair braided. She smiled sweetly at us, then looked curiously between us.
"Why are you two in here? We are having a party," she reminded us.
"We are coming, little Omega," I told her, standing up, and she noticed me putting the report down.
"What is that?"
"Not important tonight. I will tell you later."
I walked over to her, wrapping an arm around her waist, and we left to go outside. We walked toward where the party was being held, but we had barely joined the festivities before people began exclaiming in worry, Alphas grew tense, and growling filled the air as a group of riders entered the camp at full speed.
I pulled my Omega closer, and a group of Alphas formed behind us, ready to defend her too. However, as soon as I saw the white lines drawn on the horses, I recognized who was approaching.
"Relax. They are not a threat," I assured them, yet everyone remained uncertain.
Soon, the horses slowed down, and the Alphas on them took in the sight of everything. The one in the front, with slightly greying hair and a broad smile on his lips, kept his eyes on me and my Omega.
"You do know they have every right to kill you for entering this way, don't you?" I teased.
"I had to see if it was true. It seems my son found his Omega after all," Kiran said.
"I certainly did."
"Son?" my Omega questioned and looked up at me, and I smiled down at her.
It didn't take long for her to understand that this was the Alpha who had found me all alone in the desert and had saved my life.
"Oh!" she exclaimed, then smiled at Kiran, who slid from his horse.
My Omega was faster than me and hurried over to Kiran, jumping up and hugging his neck. I tried to suppress my growl because I knew my little Omega was just showing her appreciation, but it was hard not to want to tear Kiran apart. He was smart, though, knowing not to hug her back, but he smiled at me, understanding the respect that was given to him for being allowed to be so close to my Omega. However, I couldn't take it for long and quickly pulled her back to me. She wrapped her arms around me to appease me as I welcomed the group of riders.
"Join us," I told them, and the group quickly mingled with the rest. The other High Alphas weren't very happy to begin with, but they relaxed more and more as the riders showed no signs of aggression and simply wanted to celebrate that an Omega was finally among us.
However, late in the evening, I saw Tyros talking to the other High Alphas, and then Peros stormed away, which set me off a little.
"Why did he seem angry?" Kiandra questioned.
I had hoped to wait to explain it to her, but it seemed that wasn't going to happen, and I turned to her. "I believe we might have found two of your sisters. One of them is here, as you told me."
"Cassia?"
"Yes."
"Where are the rest?" she asked.
"Your eldest is still on the Rocky Island, but we don't know where Solana is," I explained.
"What? How is that possible?"
"I don't know, but we will find out," I assured her before I kissed her on top of her head. "It will be okay, little Omega. I will bring back your family."
Kiandra clung to me even tighter, and when she looked up at me, I saw the endless trust she had in me. Though I knew she wanted to go search for her sisters herself, she allowed it to be my task and instead turned to Kiran to learn even more about him. It thrilled me to see how close they had already become, and I couldn't thank the Gods more for bringing my Omega to me. She was not just the woman I cared for more deeply than anything in this world. She was my goddess, the air in my lungs, and the reason my heart even beat in my chest. I would never let this Omega go. She was mine, and I would spend the rest of my life showing her why picking me as her Alpha was the right choice.
