Chapter Two
Jensen
I nod, “No problem. I would take some pictures to go with the advert, but I don’t think it would be a good idea to post pictures with still smoking cars, or even burnt ones. That’s just going to scream dodgy as fuck.”
The guy’s smirk, and I say, “Yeah, okay, good point.”
“Do you think you will still be able to get it to sell without pictures?” Trick asks.
“I don’t see why not,” I reply, “I’m going to price it cheaply since we need to get rid of it fucking quickly; someone will snap it up.”
“Great,” Trick replies with a smile. His expression becomes serious as he adds, “So, what are we going to do about Billy and the guys?”
“We can’t let them get away with this; they’ll just think that they can carry on,” Cash says, anger flashing in his eyes as he looks around at the burnt cars. “We probably should have been thinking about getting rid of this place anyway. We’ve got the protocol in place for if we need an extra car and we are out, but it’s going to make it more risky to do any of our jobs since we will have to take one of our cars.”
Luc’s eyes glimmer with mirth as he replies, “That’s actually pretty easy to fix, we can just take one of my father’s SUVs then if the vehicles get linked to any of our jobs, it will come back on him anyway and he will have to explain it.”
My eyebrows rise as I grin, “Shit, that’s a good idea, man.”
Cash chuckles, “Well, at least that’s sorted; what about Billy and the guys, though?”
“An eye for an eye,” Rafe grins, his smile sharp.
“Meaning?” Riot asks.
I start to bounce on my toes because I know that he is going to suggest something that I’m going to really enjoy, and there’s no point trying to stay still.
“They have that shed thing that they hang out in, on Billy’s grandad’s land, right?” Rafe signs.
My eyes widen, “We burn it.”
Rafe grins and nods.
“How far is it away from the main house? We don’t want to risk innocents getting involved or being affected,” Cash asks immediately.
He always manages to see a situation from every possible angle. It is pretty fucking impressive actually, and something that I seem unable to do since I tend to get too excited to think further than the next thing that’s happening.
Rafe smiles, this time a real one, as he signs, “The house and all the other buildings are a couple of miles away. His grandad owns a massive property.”
“Good,” Trick replies.
“Now?” I ask. “We may as well go after them now and let them know that we aren’t going to let them get away with it.”
“Good point,” Riot agrees with me, “plus, they probably aren’t expecting us to go after them immediately.”
“Can I make some Molotov cocktails?” I ask excitedly.
“Have we got the stuff to make them, or are we going to have to go and get the stuff?” Trick asks me, an amused glint in his eyes.
“We have the stuff; I always make sure that we have enough of it laying around that we can make them if we need to.” I reply.
The guys all stare at me for a moment before Cash replies with a chuckle, “Of course you do.”
“Alright, you can make two, we don’t want to kill anyone, we just want to send a message,” Trick replies.
I grin, “Got it. Thanks, boss.”
“Hurry up, I’ll get some gas. I think we have some in the garage, thank fuck they didn’t get around torching that,” Luc says as he starts to walk away.
“Wait,” Cash says, and Luc turns back around as we all look at him curiously, “there is a pretty good chance that Billy and the guys are going to be there since it’s where they always hang out if there isn’t a party, and I haven’t heard of one going on tonight involving either school. So, I think it would be a good idea if we didn’t take gas; as we said before, we don’t want to hurt them; we just want to prove a point. I think throwing a couple of Molotov cocktails will send the right message.”
My eyebrows rise, “Very good point, and if that shitty fucking shed burns down in the process, then that’s just a bonus.”
“Agreed. It’s the least that they deserve, considering they have destroyed three cars.” Riot growls. “I liked those cars.”
“Me too,” I agree with a frown.
“Okay, since we are all agreed, Jensen, make up three, and then we will head over there,” Trick says.
I nod, already on my way over to the garage. It doesn’t take me very long at all to do what I need to, and I have three that just need to be lit and thrown.
While I have been gone, the guys have made sure that the cars aren’t smoking anymore and that there is absolutely no risk that they are going to set on fire again while we’re gone.
“You ready?” Trick asks me.
“Yep,” I say, holding up the bottles.
Thankfully, it doesn’t take us very long at all to get to Billy’s shed, and since he has got a separate entrance off the road that leads to it, we don’t have to risk anyone in the main house seeing us and wondering what we’re doing, or more likely, reporting us to the cops when Billy’s place goes up in flames.
“Jensen, Luc, and Cash,” Trick says, “you throw them.”
“Got it,” I reply, my smile probably too full of joy considering what we are doing, but I can’t help it if this is the kind of shit that makes me happy. Maybe I wasn’t wired right or something; either way, it makes life a lot more exciting. Probably more than normal people would like, but then, I’ve never been normal, and thankfully, my friends aren’t either.
We don’t bother arriving quietly, we plan to make a point and that’s easier done when they know you are the ones that have made the threat.
Trick pulls in and then spins the truck around so we can make a quick escape, which I imagine we’re going to need to do. We hop out and head to the back of the truck—Cash, Luc, and I all lighting our Molotov cocktails.
“Billy!” Trick shouts. Not that it’s strictly necessary since they are already on the way out.
Billy’s eyes widen as he spots us, his eyes landing on the lit Molotov cocktails in our hands.
“You destroyed three of our cars,” Trick practically growls, the anger evident in his tone. “Consider this returning the favor!”
That’s all that he needs to say as the three of us who are holding the lit Molotov cocktails launch them.
“You fuckers!” Lucky yells as they all race to put out the spreading flames.
“Paybacks a bitch!” I shout back as we all get back into the truck and race off.
“Well, tonight was certainly a lot more interesting than I thought it was going to be,” Luc says with a chuckle.
“Tell me about it. I thought we were just going to go up to the track, ride our bikes, and build some new jumps, and that was it,” Riot replies. He grins, “It was fun, though, so I’m not complaining too much.”
“It was definitely fun,” I reply.
I pull out my phone and start tapping away; I figure I may as well start to write up the advert for the yard and get it posted. It should be reasonably easy to do and won’t take me very long at all. Plus, with the way that our lives go, I have no idea what is going to happen next, which means I’m probably better off getting it done now when we have a spare moment rather than waiting until later and getting called out on a job or to a fight somewhere.
“Are you guys all coming to mine for dinner?” Trick asks, and I am immediately pulled out of what I’m doing.
“Hell yes,” I reply, along with everyone else. “I’ve put the advert up for the yard. I have said sold as seen and that buyer takes possession of everything.”
“Thanks man,” Trick replies, “now we’ll just have to wait and see if anyone wants it.”
“I would be surprised if it didn’t go,” Cash says as we pull into Trick’s drive.
“I love your mom’s cooking,” I say, and earn myself amused looks since my words had nothing to do with what we were originally talking about.
I can’t help it though, food was mentioned, and I’m hungry, which means that’s all I can now think about.
My phone chimes with a notification, and I look at it as I’m getting out of the car; this was the worst thing that I could do because my feet hate me; I trip on something; I don’t even fucking know what, and end up sprawled on the floor.
