Chapter 25

Chapter Twenty-Five

Havoc

I answer the call once I know I’m alone. “Yeah.”

“They’re up to something. I don’t know what. I’m treated like any other prospect for now. They’re careful what they say, unless they are making jokes at your club’s expense to see how I react.”

“You safe to talk?”

“Filling up at the gas station a couple of miles away.”

“Alright. Tell me what your gut feeling is. Do I need to pull you out?”

“No, they’ve given me no indication I’ve been made. I’m good to stay. The top two are definitely up to something.” He avoids saying Khan and Driller’s names, which is smart even if he is alone.

“I’ve heard they’ve become a secretive pair anyway, dealing in things and keeping the others separate from it all.”

“Yeah, I noticed that, and even I know that’s not how it usually works. Most of the others don’t bat an eye over it, so I guess it is the norm for them. Though in the last few days, there seems to have been a bit of a shift.”

“What do you mean shift ?”

“There is more of a divide present than I noticed before. I’m unsure if that’s new or if they just aren’t hiding it anymore, but it’s there. I won’t name names, not here, not now, but the top two appear to have fewer allies than I think they realize.”

“Can’t say I’m surprised. Clearly, they’re making decisions that are best for them, not for the club. On a side note, the bugs we placed aren’t getting shit. We get the odd, innocuous conversation every now and then, but that’s it. Haven’t heard them call church once.”

“They had church yesterday.”

I sigh. “They’re using a jammer. I don’t know if they found the bugs and left them there so we wouldn’t notice, or if they’re being extra cautious. But either way, they’re useless to us now.”

“Sorry, I don’t have more for you. Just…watch your backs. I have a bad feeling. I’m just not sure what it’s about.”

“I’ll talk to the guys. Stay safe. If it even looks like someone is onto you, bail.”

“Will do.”

Kieran hangs up, so I slip my cell back into my pocket and take a second to think over what he said. None of it is new information, but it’s interesting to hear about the divide. It means what Byte, Ferris, and Elmo said wasn’t just for effect. It gives me hope that I won’t have to wipe out the whole club—not that I’d ever be able to fully trust them again.

Hannibal walks out of the restroom as I turn to head back inside. He looks at me, asking a question with no words.

“Nothing new yet, other than the fact he has a bad feeling and the suspicion they’re using jammers to mess with the bugs we planted.”

“They made us?”

“Not necessarily. It could be a precaution, especially if they think there are people in the club who are no longer loyal to them. They won’t want anyone to catch them out if they are doing shady deals.”

He grunts as he walks beside me.

“You think any more about what I asked?”

He tenses but doesn’t answer.

“I know you got a lot going on, but don’t take too long to figure shit out. I need you. So does she.”

He freezes solid, so I move past him and leave him alone for a moment. I walk back to where Nevaeh sits with Midas and scoop her up, making her screech.

“You scared me.” She smacks my arm.

“Such a jumpy little thing. Let’s get you some food before you get hangry.”

I carry her to the kitchen and sit her on the counter while I rummage in the fridge for some food. “Got the fixings for sandwiches, leftover pizza, or lasagna.”

“Lasagna, please.”

I plate her a portion and heat it as a couple of club bunnies walk in and head our way.

Kiki twirls her hair. “Hey, Havoc.”

“You need something?”

She bats her eyes at me. “We just haven’t spent any time with you, that’s all.”

“Why would I spend time with you?” I frown.

Nevaeh chuckles as I stare at them and wait for them to answer.

Stacey drops her voice. “What Kiki is trying to say is, we can show you a real good time.”

I look at Nevaeh, the frown still on my face.

She shakes her head and grins. “She means sex, honey. She’s offering you the free use of her vagina. I think all of them are.”

“Pass,” I reply, getting back to the food.

“You haven’t tried us yet. We’ll let you do things to us that will blow your mind.” Macy purrs like a cat. I’m not sure if that’s supposed to be sexy. If it is, it didn’t work.

I put the food on the plate and carry it to Nevaeh, ignoring them.

“I think he’s good, ladies. But thanks for the offer.” Nevaeh offers them a smile, clearly not offended at all. I’m not sure I’d be as calm if a man?—

My hands fist, so I let the thought go before I punch something.

Kiki pipes up. “He’s only with you because you’re the first pussy he fell into since he got out of jail. He’ll get bored. There is nothing you can give him that I can’t.”

Nevaeh stands up to her full height, which still makes her the shortest person in the room. Even so, the girls take a wary step back.

“I gave him my virginity. Can any of you give him that? Why would he trade in a custom, made-to-fit model with all the bells and whistles that’s only had him as an owner for someone who has been ridden more times than the subway and by just as many passengers? I guess you could give him an STD. That’s something I can’t give him. Honey? You feel like downgrading?”

“Fuck no.”

“You bitch,” Stacey snaps.

“You walk in here and try to sleep with my man, and I’m the bitch?” Nevaeh’s voice is pitched low, but I can hear the barely concealed violence in it.

“I was more than nice to you before you took things too far. If you want to stay, I suggest you shut your mouth and learn to read the room. Because if there is one thing I know, it’s that Havoc is loyal to this club and to me. We are the only things that matter to him. You’re nothing. If you disappeared tomorrow, Havoc wouldn’t lose a wink of sleep.” Nevaeh leans forward and smiles. It’s cold and cruel and makes my dick go rock hard.

“Fun thing about being a writer? I get to research lots of interesting facts. Like the best way to kill someone and dispose of their body. Push your luck again, and we’ll see just how effective my research is.”

They back up, visibly shocked. All of them hurry to leave, but I stop them. “You’re new. I’m new. You don’t know me any more than I know you, so I’ll give you one chance to take what my old lady said on board. If you approach her or me again with anything related to my fucking you, I’ll kick you out so fast your head will spin. My cock belongs to Nevaeh. It’s as simple as that.”

“I’ll give you a little bit of advice because I’m nice like that,” Nevaeh adds with a smile. “Don’t pull this shit with G and Amity. I might have hit your pride, but she’ll hit your face.”

She waves as they leave before sitting back down and yanking the lasagna closer to her. She digs in, her eyes closing briefly as she shoves a forkful of food into her mouth. “Mmm…so good.”

“If you want to finish that, you’d better stop making those noises.”

“If you don’t speak to me until I’m finished, I’ll give you a blowjob and let you come all over my boobs.”

I stare at her for a second, surprised that it came out of her mouth.

She shrugs and gives me an innocent look. “Let’s just say I’m feeling the need to mark my territory. But first, I need sustenance.”

I sit in the chair opposite her and grab the table.

“Havoc? You okay?” she teases.

“Eat fast,” I grunt, making her laugh.
