141. Jayce

CHAPTER 141

Jayce

Today I got to witness an absolute miracle. Aurora gave birth to my first child, a daughter. I didn't think my heart could get any fuller than it did today. The only thing that concerns me with her birth is that she's an Omega, like I am. It's the dawning of a new era with my mate as the Queen of the Lycans. I'm sure the way things were handled previously will never occur again.

I look down at the tiny miracle that is in my arms and can't help but smile. Luna's hair is as white as the freshly fallen snow, the exact same color as her mother's. Her lips are a delicate rose color much lighter than her mom's, but exactly the same shape. She slowly opens her eyes and gazes up at me. I am beyond in love with the little cherub in my arms. Her eyes are a beautiful grey-green which is the perfect blend of mine and her mother's eye colors. Her tiny hand reaches out and grips my pinky tightly. I can't help but smile as she looks up at me as if I am her entire world. Tears of joy slowly roll down my cheeks as I stare at my tiny blessing. She is the smallest of the three babies born, so she needs the most attention.

To say I was shocked that I had been gifted a daughter is an understatement. I didn't think what precious little time I had with Aurora would bring about life this time. I am beyond blessed and grateful that my little Luna is here. I noticed the look that the Black Dragon, Marco, had given her. The way his eyes had lit up upon seeing her. I know without a doubt that he is her mate. It gives me great comfort to know that she has one of the most powerful dragons I know as her mate. Despite all the rumors of how the Black Dragons are, he is a kind and gentle soul. He has served Aurora's family for generations. He is among the few to remember her grandmother, the Blood Queen.

Gently, I stroke the hair on the top of my daughter's head and can't help but smile when she coos at me. Aurora slowly comes over to where we are and extends her arms to me. I am not ready to relinquish my daughter to her mother, but I know this little girl needs all the nutrition that Aurora can give her. Reluctantly, I hand our daughter over and receive a kiss from my mate. She sits in the chair besides where I am, lowers the strap on her dress and begins to breastfeed our daughter. It always amazes me the strength and power that the females of our species have. They create life and carry it until it's ready to be born. They can nourish and sustain said life until it is able to fend for itself. I wouldn't exactly say fend for itself, but able to eat regular food.

Luna settles in and begins to feed. Aurora's beast starts to rumble softly to her daughter, soothing her while she eats. I can't help but smile, watching mother and daughter interact. Today was a day of miracles; not only were triplets born, but three daughters, which is absolutely unheard of for any of our species. Klaus's grandmother says only the strongest females can produce more than one daughter. I smile, looking at Aurora, knowing in my heart and soul that she is the absolute strongest female I have ever met in my existence. Shortly after Aurora's arrival, my mother comes down to sit with us while the baby feeds.

My mom is fawning over the baby as much as I am. We both have our concerns about her Omega status. But knowing that Marco is her mate, I am not as frightened as I was before. We sit there watching Luna as she slaps Aurora's breast several times. Aurora can't help but laugh at her tiny daughter's antics; after all, it is quite hysterical. To see the teeny tiniest baby, who's barely six pounds, slapping one of the most powerful beasts of our generation, it's comical. Aurora shakes her head and looks at me. "If I didn't know she was an Omega, I would swear to the Goddess above that she would end up being my competition one day."

Aurora's statement causes me to laugh, knowing full well that she is a Dire Wolf. Unless she has venom, she is no competition for Aurora's beast. "I wouldn't worry too much my love. If she takes after me, she'll be more than content just to sit on the sidelines and watch her siblings make asses out of themselves."

My mother starts to laugh and nod her head at my statement. "This is very true," she says as she laughs at me. "I remember all the times that after the fact, I learned that Jayce was the guilty one. Poor Dominik ended up getting punished for his brother's actions." As my mother said those words, I shrug my shoulders and attempt to look as innocent as possible.

Aurora starts to laugh immediately and raises an eyebrow looking at me. "You know it is true what they say. It's the quiet ones that you have to worry about." She gives me that knowing smile, remembering how I had woken her up a few months prior.

"You have no proof!" I say boldly as I stare at Aurora, who looks down at Luna and then motions with her free hand to the baby that is currently in her arms. "No proof you say, really?" I can't help but laugh and nod my head admitting defeat.

Aurora burps Luna carefully then gently hands her back to me. I sit there snuggling my daughter to my chest, singing to her softly. Aurora gets ready to leave and kisses me on my forehead before walking out the door. Shortly after she exits the room, little Tiamat comes in, dragging her dolly behind her.

Carefully, Tiamat climbs up onto the couch beside me, staring at little Luna in my arms, looking at her curiously. I tilt my arms just enough so that Tiamat can get a good look at her sister. "Daddy Jayce? Can I hold my sister?" she asks in her little squeaky voice that she uses when she really wants something.

I grab the boppy from beside the couch and lay it in Tiamat's lap. "You have to be careful, Tia. Luna is brand new and very fragile." Very slowly, I lower Luna to rest in the boppy. Carefully, I bring Tia's arms around to help support Luna's head and her legs. The boppy itself supports the majority of Luna's weight and keeps her safe from rolling off of Tia.

Ever so carefully, Tia lowers her face to Luna, and she kisses her forehead. "I will always protect you,'‘ she says softly to her new baby sister. She nuzzles her cheeks, kissing her all over. It warms my heart watching this beautiful interaction between sisters. Deep down, I was slightly concerned about Tia being jealous of the new babies. Thankfully, she is proving me wrong, and knowing she is excited about them being here warms my heart.

Tia looks up at me and smiles. "Daddy Jayce, Luna looks a lot like Mama and me." She smiles, looking from me down to her sister and then back up again.

"She's not like me, is she?" Tia sniffs the crown of Luna's head before looking back up at me again. "She's like you. A wolf." Tia pouts slightly and then shrugs her shoulders. "It's okay. When she gets bigger, I can take her flying with me." She nods her head definitively, as if what she said will be taken as gospel.

I draw in a deep breath and slowly release it. "Little one, when you are a big dragon, you can take your sister flying as much as you want. Until then, we just need to make sure that she's kept happy and safe." Gently, I run my fingers through Tia's hair and then turn the rest of the way to face them both fully. I pull my phone out of my pocket and snap several pictures of Tia holding her little sister. Quickly, I send the images off to the rest of the family and wait for the responses.

It doesn't take long before messages start coming back. There are many oohs and ahs , and Dimitri sends me a picture of Ladon holding Odette. I show Tia the picture of her brother holding Odette, and she makes a scrunched-up face. "It's okay. I held her first." Tia has a slightly smug look on her face and then goes back to nuzzling her little sister. "Don't tell Mama, but Luna's my favorite."

I raise my eyebrows, shocked by Tia's admission. I wouldn't think that the Omega in the family would end up being her favorite. I thought either Odette or Kirra would have been more up Tia's alley, to be perfectly honest. But she's sitting here gently stroking Luna's cheek, lightly kissing her on the forehead occasionally. I think the favoritism has to do with the fact that out of the three babies born, Luna is the only one with the full head of hair. Don't get me wrong, the other two have hair, but it is rather short. Luna has several curls on the top of her head. If I wanted to, I could easily put a tiny bow in her hair.

Aurora comes walking back in, and the look on her face says it all. She is absolutely in love with the scene that is going on before her. She kneels before her daughters, kissing them both. "You make me so proud, Tia. Little Luna needs your love and protection as she grows up." Aurora gently cups Tia's cheek and kisses her forehead once more. Ever so gently, she scoops up Luna out of the boppy and brings her over to the rocking chair to feed her yet again.

I didn't realize it had been so long between her last feeding and now. Time seems to stand still as I spend time with my daughter. Unfortunately, they don't stay little forever, as evidenced by Tia, who is almost a year and a half now but the size of a six year old. It would be to Luna's advantage when she can spend time as her wolf to grow faster. Not that it's necessary, but it may make her life easier.

Tia hops off the couch and runs over to stare at Luna feeding from her mother. "Ah, gross, mom." Tia exclaims. "I thought milk came from cows, not from moms." Tia says, looking quite disgusted at the moment. She wrinkles her nose and hides her face in her doll. Aurora looks between the baby suckling at her breast, then over to Tia.

"I hate to tell you, sweetheart, but you and your twin fed from me for almost a month and a half," Aurora says with a smirk and a raised eyebrow. Tia sticks her tongue out, still grossed out. She takes her doll and swiftly runs out of the room.

Well, I'm quite curious to find out how Tia will handle it when she gets older. I look over at Aurora, and she's just shaking her head ever so slowly. "I don't know what I'm going to do with her," Aurora says jokingly. "In some ways, she's wise beyond her years. In others, she's more her shoe size than her age."

"To be fair love, chronologically, she's only a year and a half going on maybe two." I shrug my shoulders lightly, watching Aurora and the baby.

"You know, I keep forgetting that," Aurora says as she rocks the baby gently. "Her size throws me off every time," she says softly. I can see that wistful look in her eyes as she remembers Tia at the same age as Luna.

"I know, my love, but we did what we had to do to make sure that they were safe growing up," I say softly, my voice filled with some regret. "Looking back, I regret keeping them shifted for as long as we did. But it all worked out in the end."

"You're right, Jayce. Our people are free, Vladimir and Tomas are dead, and our family is safe." She smiles as she slowly stands and brings Luna back over to me. "The lunch wagon has two more stops yet." She smirks as she deposits Luna in my arms. Playfully she moos as she walks out of the room.

Slowly, I stand up and head over to the recliner and sit down. I lay Luna in my lap for a moment while I remove my shirt. Carefully, I unsnap the top she's wearing and lay her bare chest on mine for skin-to-skin contact. I grab the baby blanket I had on the table and lay it over her. Slowly, I lay the chair back and wedge myself and Luna in with pillows. It's time to nap with my number one girl. Tiny rumbles from her puppy make me giggle, and I kiss the crown of her head gently. My mom is still in the room with us as I decide to sleep for a little bit.
