9. Marked

Artemis’s POV

I woke up to the sound of a TV.

My fever is still here.

I got up and went downstairs. Iesha was on the couch flipping through channels.

“What time did you wake up?” I asked.

“I couldn’t sleep.” She answered.

“Do you want something to eat?”

“No I’m good.”

I nodded and went to the kitchen. She’s been acting strange lately.

I started to make some pancakes because, why not?

I heard footsteps coming from the stairs. I turned around and saw Justin.

I put a pancake on a plate and handed it to him.

I took it happily and started eating.

“Is there something wrong with Iesha? She’s been a little distant.”

He sighed and out his food down. “She met her mate yesterday before we saw you.”

“Oh no!” I paused. “Wait, isn’t that a good thing thing that she met her mate.”

He shook his head. “He rejected her.”

My whole body filled with anger. “Tell me his name and I’ll put an arrow through him.”

“No. Iesha doesn’t want to talk about him and she told me not to tell you. Don’t do anything.” He pleaded.

“Fine. I won’t mention anything to her but the moment I see him my arrow is going in his ear and out his eye.”

“I’ll let you do that but we need something to take her mind off him.”

An idea popped up in my head. “I have an idea but we have to wait until sunset.”

“Why?”

“You’ll see.” I smirked.

“You have a look in your eye that scares me.”

“I have that effect.” I handed him a plate with a pancake on it. “Take this to her. She said she’s not hungry but I do t believe her.”

He took the plate from me and went to the living room.

I felt my body heating up. I took a thermometer and put it under my tongue. I left it here for a few seconds then took it out.

103.1

I hope this goes away soon.

Maybe I just need a cold shower. I turned off the stove and went upstairs.

After my shower and brushing my teeth and went downstairs.

Iesha was in the kitchen and Justin was in the living room.

There’s still a few hours till dark.

“Hey, Iesha do you want to go do something or go out?” I asked her.

She shook her head. “I’m good. I don’t want to do anything today.”

“Well how about I order pizza and we can watch some movies.” I suggested.

She nodded. “Sounds good.” She went into then living room.

I took out my phone and ordered large pepperoni and three meat pizzas.

They got here in 20 minutes. Justin opened the door before I did.

The pizza man inhaled deeply. “Mate.” He muttered.

Justin is gay?

Yay! I support him fully.

I took the pizza from the guy and payed him.

I pushed Justin out the door and and closed it.

I put the pizzas on the counter and looked out the window.

Justin and the guy were kissing.

Awww.

Mental note: tease him later.

I ran to the living room and squealed. I sat next to Iesha.

“Justin found his mate!” I squealed.

“He did?” She smiled. “I’m so happy for him.”

I’m glad she happy for her brother even though her mate rejected her.

Justin walked in with the pizza guy.

“Guys this is my mate, Johnny.” He introduced us. “This is my sister Iesha and my best friend Artemis.”

“Wait, she’s human.” Johnny pointed to me.

“I have a werewolf mate. I know about you guys.” I explained.

He nodded. “OK sorry.”

“It’s fine.” I waved him off.

“So you guys are OK with with me being gay?” Justin asked.

“We support you fully.” Iesha stood up and hugged him as I did the same.

We spent a little time with Johnny before he had to leave.

It turns out he’s a pizza guy because his parents kicked him out for being gay. He owns a small apartment nearby and Justin might go live with him.

Johnny is also a rogue but I already checked his eyes he’s a nice rogue.

The rest of the day we just ate pizza and watched movies.

It was starting to get dark.

I closed all the curtains and turned off all the lights. I also light up some candles just because.

“What are you up too Artemis? An what’s with the candles?” Iesha asked.

“Just give me a minute.” I went into my basement and came back with a Ouji Board.

“A Ouji board!?” Justin asked. “That’s your plan!?”

I nodded. “C’mon. Let’s at least try it.”

“Where did you even get that?” Iesha asked.

“It was my mom’s. My grandma told she used to play this with her friends and it actually worked.” I explained.

I sat down on the floor and sat the board in front of me. Justin and Iesha at in front of me and the board.

I opened it up and set it in front of us. We each put two fingers on the triangle piece.

“What should we ask?” I asked.

“Is Justin a total idiot?” Iesha asked the board while smiling.

“Hey!”

The piece started moving. It went up too ‘yes.’

Me and Iesha laughed without removing our fingers from the piece.

“I can’t catch a break even from ghost.” Justin muttered.

“OK my turn.” I said. “Can you give us a sign that you are here?”

Two seconds later we heard a noise come from the kitchen.

We all snapped our heads in the direction of the noise.

I turned back to the board. “OK, can you move a chair or something?”

I looked to the kitchen island the stool fell over.

We all gasp.

“Why would you ask that!?” Justin yelled.

“I was curious!” I yelled back.

“OK, maybe we should say good bye to this ghost.” Iesha suggested.

Me and Justin nodded. We were about to say ‘goodbye’ but was cut off by loud banging at the door.

We blew out a scream.

“Goodbye!” I quickly said.

The piece slowly moved to ‘goodbye’ but the banging continued.

“We said ‘goodbye’ why isn’t it leaving us alone?” Iesha asked.

“Maybe we offended it.” Justin thought.

“How do you offend a ghost!? Say ‘you can’t pull off that ectoplasm, it’s not your color.’” I said sarcastically as the banging got louder.

Before anyone could respond the door busted open as we all let out a loud scream.

A guy in a black hoodie entered.

I quickly grabbed my bow and arrows I keep under the couch and aimed it at the man.

He took off his hood. “What is going on here!?”

“Blake?” I put away my bow and arrow and started hitting his arm. “You. Scared. Me. Half. To. Death.”

“Ow.” He whined. “I smelled rogues and I thought you were in trouble.”

I stopped hitting him. “Blake these are my friends Justin and Iesha. They’re huge rogues.”

“What? I thought you hunted rogues.” He loomed at me with confusion.

“I have met some good rogues over the years but I trust these guys the most.” I pinged to them.

“Hi.” Justin greeted nervously.

“Why is there another male with you?” Blake growled.

“He has a mate and he’s gay.” I explained.

“Oh. I’m sorry.” He apologized to Justin.

Justin just waved him off.

“Blake why are you here?” I asked.

“I came to apologize. Is there someplace private we can talk?” He asked.

I nodded then turned to the twins. “Can you put that Ouji board back in the basement?”

Iesha shoved the board towards Justin. “You do it.”

She ran to her room.

I grabbed Blake’s hand and dragged him to my room. I locked the door. “You owe me a new door.”

“I’m sorry. About everything thing. You’re going into heat that’s why I asked to mark you and the full moon is coming up and my wolf wanted to take you by force. I’m sorry.” He nuzzled his face in my neck.

That’s why I have a fever!?

I’m going into heat?

I guess I have to let him mark me.

It was going to come sooner or later.

And thanks to my heat, it’s sooner.

I hugged him back. “I’m sorry for yelling at you. I should have let you explain first.”

“It’s my fault. I should have told you you were going into heat.”

I sighed. “Mark me.”

He looked at me. “Are you sure? I don’t want to force you.”

I nodded. “I’m sure.”

He smiled and kissed my lips softly. I kissed back. He removed his and went from my jaw to my neck. It took all of me not to let out a moan.

He hit the spot were my neck and shoulder met. I let out a moan. I could feel him smirking against my skin.

He sucked on that spot. I could feel his teeth sink into my skin. I let out a groan of discomfort. It was soon replaced with a moan when he licked and kissed it.

All the energy was drained from my body.

He picked me up bridal style and set my down on the bed.

“Goodnight princess.” He kissed my forehead before I fell asleep.
