31. My Pup

One Month laterArtemis’s POV

“Blake! Bring me ice cream!” I yelled from the living room.

“I’m coming!” He yelled from the kitchen trying to sound calm. I could tell he was irritated.

He came back holding a tub of cookies ‘n cream with a spoon.

I took it from him and started eating.

“No thank you?” Blake took a seat next to me.

“You’re right.” I nodded and turned to my ice cream. “Thank you ice cream for being delicious.”

Blake pouted. “You’re lucky I love you.”

“No you’re lucky that you brought this ice cream to me in time.” I smirked as he playfully glared.

It’s been a month and I already have a huge stomach.

Melissa has grown a little too. She looks like she’s six months old already.

Elise doesn’t talk to me at all. She’s too focused on protecting my child.

We Sony know the gender of the baby because we wanted it to be a surprise.

“I have a surprise for you later today.” He changed the subject.

“Is it chocolate?” I asked.

“No.”

“Ice cream?”

“No.”

“Chocolate milk?”

“No.”

“Any kind of food?”

“No.”

“Then I don’t care.” I ate another spoonful of ice cream.

He kissed my cheek. “I promise you’ll love it.”

“I better. It’s cutting into my ice cream time.”

He chuckled and kissed my lips.

“Did you just kiss me to kick the ice cream off my face.”

He smirked. “Maybe.”

I punched his arm.

“Ow!” He whined while rubbing the spot where I hit him.

I smirked and finished eating my ice cream.

“Are we there yet?” I whined.

“We are almost there don’t worry.”

Right now Blake had me blindfolded as we drove me to my “surprise.”

Whatever the hell that means.

I felt the car come to a stop. I heard a door open and close.

I opened my door but Blake grabbed my hand and helped me out.

“Careful. I don’t want you fall.” He said.

If I wasn’t wearing a blindfold he would seen me roll my eyes.

I heard the car door close before Blake started leading me somewhere.

He removed my blindfold. I blinked a few times to ajust to the light.

I’m front of me was a house.

“Blake what is this?” I asked.

“Our house.” He replied casually.

I looked at him with wide eyes. “What!?”

“It our new home. This is where we are going to raise our child and you can bring Midnight and her pups. Everything is already set up.”

“I can’t accept this.”

“Too bad. Lets take a look inside.”

He took my hand but before I could move I felt something run down my leg.

I looked down. “I think my water just broke.”

Blake eyes widened and he picked me up bridal style and placed me back I’m the car.

Hs drove as fast as he could. He avoid in the cops. I don’t know how he did.

I sharp pain rushed throughout my body. I screamed out in pain.

I felt Blake grab my hand as he increased his speed.

The car came to a sudden stop. Blake got out of the car and ran to my side.

He picked me up and ran into the hospital.

“Help her!” He yelled using his alpha voice.

Doctors came rushing toward us. Blake place me on a gurney. The doctors rushed me into a room.

Blake POV

They rushed my mate into one of the rooms.

I took a hold of her hand as she screamed.

The doctors removed her pants and underwear.

Red liquid started coming out of her lower area.

Artemis screamed again. “What’s happening!?”

“Something is happening! She’s not supposed to be bleeding!” One of the doctors shouted.

“What’s happening to her!” I yelled with my wolf coming out.

They ignored me.

“Get her to he emergency room! Now!” A doctor yelled.

They pushed the gurney out of the room.

I was about to follow them but a doctor stopped me.

“I’m sorry alpha but you can’t come. We don’t know what’s wrong with her.” He said.

“Are you kidding me!? That’s my mate with my pup! She’s bleeding! I have to be there for her!” I growled.

“You can’t go in there.”

“It’s not weather you tell me not to go in there. It’s about whether you’re king to stop me or not.”

I felt a sharp pain in the side of my neck.

“I’m sorry alpha.”

‘Chloroform.’ Gavin growled.

I felt rush of energy gush through me. I shot up from where I was gasping as sweating.

I was on a hospital bed. Nurses came rushing in.

“Alpha calm down.” One of them said.

I got off the bed and growled. “Where’s my mate!?”

“This way alpha.” The nurse started leading me to a different room.

We walked in. Artemis was asleep on the gurney, attached to a heart monitor.

“She’s just sleeping. The pup was born dead that’s why she was bleeding. She died shortly after giving birth but we were able to save both of them. I’ll have the doctor come in and explain everytging else to you and he’ll come back with your pup.” The nurse left the room.

My heart skipped a beat when she said my pup was born dead and Artemis died after.

I felt useless.

I wasn’t able to keep them safe.

I walked up to my mate and place hand on the side of her cheek.

She stirred around in her sleep and slowly opened her eyes.

She saw me and sat up from the bed and rubbed her eyes.

“What happened?” She asked as she stretched. “Why don’t I look like Santa Claus anymore?”

“You had the baby.”

“Well what happened? Where’s my child?” She narrowed her eyes.

“Calm down the doctor is coming with our pup.”

She relaxed.

“The baby died. That’s why you were bleeding. You also died shortly after but he doctors were able to save you both.”

She looked at me with disbelief.

I looked down at my lap ashamed. “I was powerless. I couldn’t do anything to help you both.”

I tear ran down my cheek.

Artemis grabbed my face in her hand and brought her lips to mine.

“It wasn’t your fault.” She said as she pulled away.

“But I couldn’t live with myself if the doctors weren’t able to save you and that I could have done something about it.”

“You are not going to loose me.”

I was about to respond but a nurse and doctor came in.

The nurse was holding our pup in a blue blanket.

She handed our pup to Artemis.

“Congratulations Alpha and Luna. You have a new son.” The doctor said. “Since he was born a month early he’s a little smaller than other pups but his alpha genes will kick in, in time.”

“Is there anything else we should know?” I asked.

“Yes there is. We did notice some problems with him. He’s fine for now but in time he will develop mood swings, anger issues and we have a feeling he will not think before doing something. These predictions may not be true but we want you to be prepared.”

I nodded as Artemis handed me our pup.

“What should we name him?” I asked.

“How about Ash. After your sister but we name him Ash-er instead of Ash-ly.” Artemis suggested.

“It’s perfect.” I smiled and looked down at my pup.

“I’ll write that sown on his certificate then.” The doctor smiled and left along with the nurse.

He stirred around until he opened his eyes.

He had one brown eye and one blue eye like me and I could already tell he had Artemis’s black hair.

“He’s a combination of both of us.” Artemis laughed slightly.

“What about his symptoms?” I changed the subject.

“It will be fine. I’m not worried about that right now. And the doctor said that they might be wrong so let’s just drop it for now.”

I got up and set Ash down in the cot where he started to fall asleep.

I laid down next to Artemis on the bed and pulled her into my chest.

“Let’s get some rest.”

She nodded and fell asleep next to me. I slowly drifted off to sleep watching my mate and pup.

Artemis’s POV(dream)

I looked around and saw nothing but darkness. I was alone.

“Hello?” I called out.

Why did I do that?

It’s not like anybody is going to answer me.

“Hello child.” A voice called out.

I jumped and screamed. I turns around and was met by a woman.

She had light blue hair, almost white. Brown eyes and a long silk white dress.

Moon goddess.

I bowed my head in respect.

She lifted my head with her hand. “Dont bow child.”

I nodded. “Why am I here?”

“I came to tell you something about your pup.”

“What is it?” I asked.

“All the symptoms the doctor predicted will be true as soon as your pup shifts.”

I looked at her confused. “What do you mean?”

“I mean that I’m warning you. He will disappoint you and his mate. I just don’t want you to hate him when he does. I have to go know goodbye child.”

Before I could ask anymore questions it all went black again.

I slowly opened my eyes. Blake had an arm around me as he slept. I laid my head on his chest.

Is it true?

Will Ash disappoint me?

What will he do to his mate?

I’m so worried.

But one thing is clear.

I’m happy now.

Why?

Because I am the Alpha’s Huntress.
