24. Wolfsbane does not go well with Stake

Artemis’s POV

It’s been two days and I still haven’t got to another note from Logan.

I’ve been on edge lately.

The littlest things make jump.

I felt a tap on my shoulder. I jumped and flung the bacon I was cooking, at the persons face.

“Ahh! Artemis what the hell!?” Xander screamed.

He dropped the bacon on the floor. His face was red and greasy.

Midnights puppies came in and started gnawing on the bacon.

“Xander! You scared me!” I yelled.

“Yeah, I picked up on that.” He ran his hands through his face.

“That’s just a waste of bacon.” I pointed to the puppies.

“What’s up with you? You’ve been jumpy.” He asked.

“Nothing. I’m fine.”

“You’re obviously not.”

“Just drop it alright.” I dropped the pan back on to the stove and ran upstairs.

I entered min and Blake’s room. Blake had a meeting so he wasn’t here.

I found another note sitting on the bed.

I picked it up and slowly opened it.

Good choice. You obeyed. Over the years I’ve known you, I know you’d risk everything to keep your only family safe. I want you to meet me in the forest tonight at midnight. Don’t try anything and come as Robin Hood.

I have to go.

He’s right. I would risk everything for them.

I put the letter back into the envelope and hid it in the corner of the of the closet with the others.

I heard a knock at the door. I flinched then shook off the feeling.

I opened the door revealing, Gina, Jamie, and Iesha.

“Hey what are you guys doing here?” I asked.

“We were thinking maybe we could have a girls day today.” Jamie answered.

“Yeah sure. Where are we going?” I asked while stepping out of my room and closing the door.

“First we go out to eat then we go shopping.” Iesh explains.

We entered Gina’s car and drove off.

“Where should we go out to eat?” Asked Gina.

“Steak house.” I answered.

“Sounds good.” Jamie and Iesha agreed.

We drove all the way to a steak house. We took a booth next to a window.

A waiter came to our table. We all ordered medium rare steaks with mash potatoes and gravy.

We all have the same taste in food.

“When is our food going to come?” Iesha groaned.

“It’s been two minutes.” Jamie pointed out.

“But that’s such a long time.” She groaned again.

“Ok guys I have some news.” Gina spoke up.

We all turned our attention to her.

She had a huge grin spread against her face. “I’m pregnant!”

All our eyes widened.

“When!?” I asked with pure happiness.

“I just found this morning. Me and Xander are goin to be parents!” Gina explained.

“Oh, no.” I gasped.

“What? What’s wrong?” Jamie asked.

“Xander, a parent. Your child is going to get spoiled.” I joked.

We all laughed.

We kept talking and thinking about names for her baby.

Her baby will be due in about 5 or 6 months but we don’t know the exact date yet.

After 45 minutes of talking our food finally came.

I person caught my eyes outside of the window.

It was Logan smirking and staring at Jamie, Gina, and Iesha.

“Guys! Don’t eat that!” I stopped them from taking a bite of their stakes.

The put their forks down and looked at me weirdly.

I grabbed Iesha’s stake and cut it in half.

“Hey!” She yelled.

I cut open the stake. The center was blood red with pinkish dots.

I took a small whiff of it. “Wolfsbane.”

I heard of all of them gasp. I wrapped the stake in a bandana that was in my pocket.

We exited the stake house and drove back to the pack house.

Once we entered we were met with our angry mates. Even Tyler looked worried about Iesha.

“Where have you guys been!?” Blake yelled.

“We have more important things to worry about!” I shouted.

“Like what?”

“Someone tried to poison us with wolfsbane!” Gina yelled. “I know for a fact, wolfsbane does not go well with stake. ”

Xander pulled her into a hug. As did all of our mates.

“Why didn’t you tell me where you where going?” Blake asked me.

“You didn’t ask.” I pulled away from the hug.

“Artemis you’re still half werewolf. The wolfsbane could have affected you too.”

I rolled my eyes at him. “It hasn’t effected me yet.”

I pulled the stake out and handed to Blake. “Someone put wolfsbane in our stakes.”

Blake sniffed the stake and growled. “Take this to our scientist to see how they injected this much Wolfsbane in the stake.” He commanded Noah as he nodded.

“Well now would be a good time to tell everyone that I’m pregnant.” Gina announced out of the blue.

The boys all gasped. Xander looked like he was about to faint.

“Xander? Aren’t you going to say something?” I asked.

He ignored me and picked up Gina and spun her around with the biggest smiled on his face.

“If you hug her any tighter your going to hurt your baby.” Jamie pointed out.

Xander immediately let go of Gina.

Blake grabbed my hand and led me upstairs.

I dragged to our room and closed the door and locked it.

“You’re still in trouble for leaving without telling me.” He said.

“I’m not a little kid Blake. You can’t just boss me around.”

“I know but you could have gotten hurt and no one would know where you were.”

“Stop being such a drama queen. I can take care of myself.”

“I still care about you and I want to protect you.”

He kissed my lips and put my arms around his neck.

He removed his lips from mine and moved on to my neck.

“If I don’t stop now I won’t be able to control myself.”

“Then don’t stop.”

~Artemis’s dream

It was completely dark. I could see a thing.

All I did was wonder and hope nothing makes contact with my face.

All of a sudden I see a bright light. I blinked a few times to get used to the light.

I saw a couple standing in front of me. It was the same couple that was in my baby picture.

“Mommy. Daddy.” I cried as I ran up to them and hugged them.

“My little girl all grown up.” I heard my mom’s voice.

“What are you doing here, not that I’m complaining?” I ask.

“We came to tell you about your werewolf side and Logan.” My dad grumbled.

“What about it?” I ask again.

“You will have a werewolf in you but you will not be able to shift.” My mom explained.

I nodded for them to continue.

“Logan will do anything to get revenge. You have to out smart him to finally defeat him. Don’t let anything he says get in your way.” My dad explained.

“Ok I won’t.” I nodded.

“Ok, you have to leave now. It’s almost Midnight.” My mom said before they both disappeared.

I slowly opened my eyes and looked at the clock. 11: 42.

I slowly removed Blake’s arm from around my waist and got dressed as Robin Hood.

I quietly exited the house and ran into the dark forest.
