Chapter 26

I open my eyes to...

Oh... right. Melzul is here with me.

On the same bed.

His arms wrapped around me.

He is still fast asleep. He is probably more handsome sleeping than walking around and annoying me.

Wait... I'm not here to be staring at him.

But he is sleeping a bit too comfortably. I don't want to wake him.

He is the reason I'm here on the bed instead of waiting outside in the cold. I can't deny that it's cold outside in the night, but I can bear with that if it's for the right cause — which it is.

I pick up his arm and move it off me, then roll to the side as slowly as I can manage so I won't wake him. He must be tired. And he was the one who stared at the huge mouth of the beast, which wouldn't be fun at all.

More importantly, he saved me and deserves a good night's sleep.

I go to the window, lift the blind, and peek outside. It is already bright, which probably means I've missed my alarm. Or since I'm in Melzul's room, he didn't even set an alarm. Definitely someone who decided to work hard, huh?

The sky is clear, and there's still no sign of a spaceship.

Maybe I shouldn't have my hopes up when they are strangers who don't have a reason to care about us.

A pair of arms wrap around me and pulls me to him, his hard cock rubbing at my ass. I grunt. "What're you doing?"

"Good morning, my mate."

"I have a name, my mate."

He chuckles. "Yes, Irene, you have the best name in the whole universe."

I roll my eyes at his failed attempt at flirting with me, but he makes me happy, so that's whatever. "What're you up to? I told you last night that I wasn't in the mood. I'm still not in the mood."

"Hey! Is my cock bothering you? I can't help it when I always wake up to it... being hard."

"Yeah, yeah..." I still roll my eyes, again.

He rubs my stomach. "Is it time for breakfast?"

"Is that all you can think about?" When we should be thinking about whether those beings that caught our call would arrive later in the day?

"Oh... Sorry, I was just trying to help with the tension in the air."

I sigh. Maybe I'm a bit too anxious about it.

He says, "I know what's in your head. I want those beings to arrive already, too. But..."

"Maybe they're from far away, yes, I'm aware of the possibility."

He massages my shoulders with his big hands. "It's going to be fine."

I nod, despite my shoulders still feeling heavy to lift. "I'm just... tired, I suppose."

"You make it seem like staying positive is draining."

"Maybe it's that way for me. You're always a ball of chaos energy."

He chuckles. "I make for a good balance to your ball of anxious energy."

I hug him and bury my face in his chest. "Maybe you're right."

He hugs me and strokes my back. "Let's get working on something so we don't keep thinking about that. When they arrive, we'll know. It will be impossible to miss a spaceship landing."

He holds my shoulders and turns me to face the door. "Here, one foot in front of the other, and let's get moving."

I let out a breath. If I stay with him, maybe I'd get some of that positive energy on me. I'm not sure whether that's a good thing or not, though.
