Chapter 7
Telke
I rub my hands together as I take a sip of my coffee and swipe my card to clock in for the day. It is a new day and I like to be around early. I have a practice session with the team and a few potential new members of the team this morning before school officially starts.
I put my mug on the desk before I grab my hat. Winnie's seat is empty. She probably hasn't arrived. To be honest, I'm the only being inside the staff room. No one else will be here this early in the day.
It is time to get going and I shouldn't think about her all the time.
But I want to feel her in my arms. I want to look into those beautiful eyes too. How bad is it to be thinking about that all the time even though we've just met? I've never felt that way for someone else though, weird.
I head out of the staff room, arriving at the sports ground soon enough. A few of the team are already there. They wave at me as I smile back. "Looks like we're more than ready to get started early."
"Mr. Stek, you're always ready too," one of them chuckles.
"Obviously, we have no time to waste."
A few more arrive and I count the number. I think we've gotten everyone. I stretch my arms. "Let's get some warm-up and get going."
I jog with them and stretch with them. When it comes to sports, the most important thing is to make sure everyone's safe and no one suffers an injury or two, which is going to derail us, not to mention it hurts to get injured.
Now, the team boarded their flying ships and we are ready for the first session. Maybe I'm over-hyping myself a bit, but this is sports, and we should be excited and having fun.
I shout. "Remember to fasten your seatbelts! Don't forget to lock the strap of the helmet too!"
A few wave their bats at me, which probably means that they are doing well. As per the rules of floatball, when it is an official match, the team will have an earbud set for everyone so we can communicate without shouting to get our message through. The floatball playing field is a bit too large for that.
I pick up the floatball and the bat. "Here we go! Keep up the good pass for the team."
I toss the floatball into the air and smack it with the bat, sending it flying to one of the teams. He takes it with ease, hitting the ball to the member to the side. Now that they are getting into the flow, I can take a brief rest. I check the controller for the playing field again. The force-field is turned on, which will make sure the floatball won't fly off to the middle of nowhere. The force-field will make the ball bounce off it as if it hits a wall.
After everyone has their turn hitting the floatball, I toss another at them. "Here, this time, hold it for a second before passing to one another."
There is a net on the top of the floatball bat, which can be used to slow down and carry the ball, which is handy and makes the sport fun.
"Oh no!" one of them shouts and points at the floatball that's flying to...
Winnie!
She seems oblivious to our practice and is walking along the sidewalk of the playing field, which is within the force-field. She must have missed the sign I put at the entrance. I hurry over there, jumping and reaching my bat out at her. Maybe she is listening to music or something.
"Miss Bailey!" I shout when my bat is an inch away from the floatball and also her head.
She flinches and spins around. I smack the floatball to the side and she is saved.
She blinks and stares at me. "Oh... Morning?"
I let out a breath and pick up the floatball with my bat. "Whoa, you could have gotten smacked."
She blinks, seemingly confused. "What do you mean?"
I toss the float ball in the air and send it flying to the team again before talking to her. "Did you miss the sign at the gate?"
She looks toward the gate, which is a few minutes' walk from where we stand. "Oh... I'm sorry. I didn't walk through the gate. I... Came here through the grass. There's a path there."
"I see. It's okay. Just want to make sure you didn't get hit."
She smiles and my heart races. "Thank you for helping me."
Her smile melts me and... makes my cock twitch. I hope no one sees it. The floatball team is probably busy practicing, so... "Good. I'll be back at the practice. See you later."
"Sure. Thanks again." She walks off and I hurry back to the field, pretending to be fully in the game again.
I really want to spend more time with her, but this isn't the right time.
The team is still playing and doesn't seem to notice our chat. For them, it's the teachers talking, so probably none of them paid too much attention.
Yes, I'm here to teach and train the team, not here to get to know other beings.
But... Is that how it feels when I seem to have met...
Is it possible that she's my mate?
Really?
I stare at her back for another moment before I turn to the field again. For now, I should focus on the kids and make sure they...
I check the time. It is almost time to get them ready for lessons, and I have to prepare for my lessons too.
Winnie... Maybe she has story sessions with the kids too.
