37. Epilogue

"Go! Smack them!" I yell from the spectator's seat as my team cruises through the playing field with their floatball bats ready and battleships ready.
The students are there cheering on those in the field, and everyone's waiting with tension exploding. It is hot here at the sports ground, but it's not hotter than the blood rushing through my bloodstream.
Winnie and others are there playing the game and it is currently a tie between the two teams.
I wave my arms, even though I may look like a crazy one. I don't care. Some craziness is what floatball matches need.
"We can still win!" I would be jumping up and down if there were no kids around, and I didn't have to maintain a certain image in front of them. When the principal decided that teaching staff should play a team game against each other during sports day, he probably didn't expect this. I'm already behaving myself.
I wish I could be there playing with everyone. My arms are itching to be smacking floatballs.
But everyone decided that I should sit it out. Actually, I raised that and decided to sit myself out. It is hard for me to control myself during a floatball match. I'd forget that everyone else has just tried the game for a few weeks and some aren't even interested in it. I'd scare them with my way of playing.
There are almost no rules in floatball past no attacking other players outside of slamming into them with the ship, so it can be wild at times. I'm wild at times, too.
Not to mention that it will also make it fair for everyone for me to be on the sideline.
I smack the cheering batons together. "Hit the ball!"
I bet all the other teaching staff are laughing at me by now, but I don't care.
Winnie catches the floatball and drives past a player from the other team. She swings her bat and sends the floatball going straight toward the goal.
I'm ready to cheer for her when someone sneaks in and smacks the floatball elsewhere.
That's such a bummer.
But there's still time.
If our team wins, I'm going to give Winnie a prize. If we don't win, she'll get her punishment, privately.
Well, sometimes I can't figure out whether she thinks of my cock as punishment or prize, but whatever floats her boat and makes us happy.
"Go! Team!" I turn around to the rest of the team, who are also on the bench, which isn't a lot of beings. "Hey, let's cheer for the team! The principal will buy us dinner if we win. More importantly, we're so close to winning!"
The rock music explodes in the field, and I almost jump at that. Adrenaline surges through my bloodstream as if I'm in the field. The rock music is the signal for the last five minutes of the last session of floatball.
The other staff pick up their baton and join me in the cheering. We are here already. May as well enjoy the game.
Winnie speeds up her ship, joining Jackel as they take the floatball from the other team, who can't decide which side to go to when the two of them go against him at once.
Jackel passes Winnie the ball, and she swings it to the goal.
The other team hurries to dash to the goal, reaching their bat at the floatball...
A loud whistle cuts through the air. The fireworks explode in the air to scream a goal.
"Yes! We made it!" I scream at the top of my lungs.
There is only one minute left. My team can survive it. Not to mention, one minute left means another minute of scoring points.
The last minute is... slightly lacking in action. But I get it. It's a match for fun and sportsmanship, no one is fighting to stay on the team, and no one is fighting for MVP titles for the season.
Peaceful floatball is a bit out of the norm for me, but that's okay. I can save some of the intensity for the tournament. I'm going to try my best to make sure the school team is the best in the city and beyond.
"So... Mr. Stek..."
I blink as I turn my gaze to another member of the teaching staff. Hm... I don't think he is this much shorter than me.
He says, "Do you mind...?"
I blink, only to find myself standing on the bench. I must have jumped onto it when I was busy cheering. "Oh, right? Sorry about that."
I come off the bench when the team is heading back. I'd run over and hug Winnie if there was no one else around, but I can't do that in front of the kids.
Some of the staff who are closer to us know that we're dating, but most of the school is clueless. Not that they have to know about our relationship anyway.
Winnie grins as she comes over and hugs every female on the team. She rubs shoulders with all the males. I guess that has to be it for now.
I hand her the water bottle alongside another three bottles for the other team members closest to me.
"Thank you." She takes a sip of her water. "It's wild to be out in the heat for so long."
I chuckle. "If the principal was playing, maybe we'd move this to indoors."
She rolls her eyes and gulps down even more water. "Speaking of which. I heard your scream even out there."
"Hey, that's the point of cheering."
She grins. Her smile pulls me in and sets a fire in my stomach, like always. We've been together for a bit by now, but her smile is never getting old. There's nothing better than seeing that every single day. I'm more than grateful that we work in the school together and can be with each other almost all the time. Even when we aren't physically in the same room, it feels like we're together, right next to each other.
She puts her water bottle back onto the bench, taking a seat as the principal is initiating the prize ceremony.
I take a seat with the rest of the team, alongside all the students, as all the events are over, and the day is wrapping up.
Winnie lets out a breath. "Look at you, always staring at me with your silly smile."
"Hey, I think my smile is golden."
"Indeed."
I stroke her thigh with the back of my hand, trying my best to be subtle. "Congrats on the win."
"I have a good coach."
"You worked hard. I hope you at least like floatball."
"I do. It is also great for me to get to know other staff."
Jackel is sitting on the next bench, but I catch him glancing at us. He finds out that I found out. He winks and looks away soon enough. Sitting next to us in the staff room. He was one of the first to know that Winnie and I are together. He is a friend, so we're probably fine.
More importantly...
I lower my voice in Winnie's ear. "Prize, right?"
Her cheeks flash bright red, even redder than when she just got back from the field. "Shut up."
"That's not very polite, Miss Bailey."
She rolls her eyes, but her smile outs her. "Are you sure about that, Mr. Stek?"
"Prize, yes."
She sucks in a breath and refuses to look me in the eye. Maybe I get to her head now.
