Chapter 29

Winnie

Am I in the wrong?

I was the one asking what he wanted out of our hook-up, and I thought that was what he wanted. To be honest, I wouldn't be upset, even if he told me that he wanted the sex and that's all about it.

He is a handsome guy and...

Fuck... There are buzzes in my pussy even when I think about what he made me feel. I won't mind if we're just going to hook up with each other, but...

Part of me wants to be closer to him, but part of me knows better.

He parks the spaceship and undoes the seatbelt. "Here, let's grab food. I'm starving."

"Sure." I follow him.

He puts a smile on his face, but his eyes are... not as intense as they were. Maybe he's deep in thought too.

I just know that I'm not good for him or anyone. I'm not even good for myself.

Wait... Where are we?

I've never been to this part of the city. I'm new in the city, but still...

I shiver at the darkness hovering over here. There should be streetlamps, but those are out of service, which I've never seen in almost my whole life.

He says, "Are you worried?"

"Where are we?"

There are spaceships parked nearby. The parking lot looks intact, but...

I shiver again and Telke wraps his arm around me. He says, "It's okay. This place is safe, just a bit older and run-down." He points at the street outside of the fence that separates the parking lot and the outside. "Do you see the crowd?"

There are shops on the streets. The street is dim, the only lights are from the shops and restaurants. The air smells like... fries and other deep-fried food, except the expired ones, not very enticing.

I ask, "Are you sure there are good tacos?"

"Yes, I'm never leading you astray." He winks. "Sometimes, you have to give things a try, even though the place may look dangerous."

My heart skips a beat. It almost feels like he is referring to us, but... Is he someone who'll give that much thought to his words? He has been the kind who says whatever's on his mind and is straightforward, right?

I follow him, but these streets don't look safe enough for me.

There's a crowd waiting at the door of the taco place Telke seems to like, but...

Fuck...

I hate being a tiny being when these are... bigger.

Most of them look normal and not there to hurt anyone, but I don't like to be in a crowd when these beings can squash me flat just because of their size.

Telke pushes against the beings, parting a way for himself. I should follow him, but I don't want to be that close to others. I need my personal space and this place isn't that at all.

Between beings, I barely glance at the inside of the restaurant. It looks like a bar. It is dim inside with bar tables. There is music, but it isn't so loud that it will kill me.

Yet... Food smells great from the inside. but... This place is far from enticing. Maybe Telke will like it, but I sure don't.

It doesn't take long before Telke is back with a piece of paper. "Here, just ten tables before us."

Fuck... I don't want to be standing amongst this crowd and waiting. Not to mention, when we get in, he may feel like we should stay longer than we should because we spent the time waiting. At least that's what I'd want... That is, if we weren't at this place that seemed to want to swallow me whole.

There's probably no reason for me to be this worried, but still...

He watches me for another moment before he says, "Are you fine? You look pale. Too hungry to wait?"

I take a breath, but only take in the oil stains and... the mixture of beings' sweat. I clear my throat. "Do they do takeaway?"

"Sure, we can get that instead. I'll get you the menu."

No, I don't want to stay a second longer than I must. "I'll have what you're getting."

He winks. "Smart. Give me a moment." He goes back to the crowd, which doesn't seem to bother him. Maybe it wouldn't bother me if I were Telke's size.

I let out a breath as I take steps to the side, away from the beings that are waiting. I need fresh air, which I'm not getting here. But at least I can get as far away as possible from others.

When the air seems to be clear of being's sweat and some of their heavy scent, it feels like I can finally breathe.

But at the same time, now that I'm a few steps away, it feels like...

Will there be dangerous beings coming to kidnap me?

I don't have anything worthwhile to steal or rob, but maybe those beings aren't smart enough to see that.

Um... Maybe I should...

Logically, even though there are areas that aren't as nicely maintained, it's not that dangerous within the city. But...

Something touches my shoulder. I jump back and kick at them. I'm not dying in this stupid place and.

"Whoa!" Telke hops back and ducks to the side, lifting two paper bags high into the sky so I can't accidentally destroy them. "It's me!"

"Oh, shit... I'm sorry." I take my leg back. "I thought something dangerous was around."

"Okay... Is it this scary to be out here? I know we aren't in the city center, but it's not that bad."

"Maybe they should fix the streetlamp and it will look better."

He looks around with a frown, probably thinking I'm crazy. "Maybe. Let's get going then."

I hold his hand before I give it any thought. I need to hold something to steady myself but at the same time...

His big hand feels safe, but I don't want to give him the wrong signal.

The signal that... Maybe I kind of like him...

He gently squeezes my hand with a wide grin. "You can feel safe with me. Even after holding the tacos and your hand, I still have two more hands to punch bad beings."

I snort a laugh. He does have a way to make me happy. "I mean, who's dumb enough to come attacking a big kot'oll anyway."

"Right." He flexes one of his arms. "Maybe that's why I'm not too worried about this place. But it's okay, I'll hold you close."

I want him to hold me close too... Even though... I may not be good for him.

We are back in the spaceship. He puts the paper bags on the dashboard and peeks into one of them. "Look at this cute little thing."

I grab his hand before he reaches into the bag.

He stares at me with questions in his eyes.

I ask, "Are you planning to eat here?"

"Yes? Now we have a spot... Oh, I see." He wraps up the paper bag and starts the spaceship. "Let's go somewhere instead of being on the street."

I let out a breath. "I'm sorry. I don't mean to look like a crazy one."

"It's okay. I'm happy wherever... I am."

Hm...?

The spaceship takes off and gets up to the sky again. This is better than in the parking lot, even though it is probably safe there too. At least there won't be beings coming out of nowhere trying to rob me.

He chuckles, seemingly sensing the tension in me. "The drawer to my side, the second one. I have two laser guns."

I let out a breath. "Okay, that sounds better. But you have four hands, so..."

"I can drive with two hands and shoot at bad beings with the other two."

I snort a laugh. "Somehow, that seems to make sense."

"Our planet is pretty good. I heard there are crazy bandit attacks somewhere."

"Don't scare me."

"Hehe." His smile grows.

I smack his arm that's not driving. "Just shut up for a bit."

"Well, well. Where should we go?"

"My place, if you don't mind Ossa."

He says nothing. I turn from the window to him. Did I say something wrong? I thought he was fine. Maybe he really isn't a fan of my place after Ossa thought he was a climbing stand.

I clear my throat. "I guess we can go to your place too."

"Oh, I mean... I thought you wouldn't want me in your place."

My heart skips a beat. Because we... "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to ignore you earlier today, it's just..." Words stick in my throat. Or rather, I can't come up with anything. I don't know what to do to make things right without telling him about...

I know it doesn't make sense to think that, because I've run into bad males, all others are the same, but at the same time, I...

He says, "Maybe I'm so impressive that I left you speechless."

He puts a smile on my face, but that's still not right. He doesn't deserve that from me. My stomach twitches.

I hold his hand, giving it a squeeze. "I don't know how to talk about it."

"Let's keep it simple. Are we good? Can we still chat and have fun times together? I don't mean the sexy kind of fun, but just fun floatball and chatting times."

I nod. "Yes, we can have that all the time for sure."

He grins. "Good. Let's head to your place then."

It'll be fine. I just have to keep my hands away from him and... we can have tacos in peace, and he can head home on his own afterwards.
