CHAPTER 19

B eth looked towards the door at Brodie’s dark warning to Doug. She gasped when she saw not only Brodie but Jack, and Angus all standing there with Brodie at the helm.

“Who the fuck are you?” Doug demanded whirling around towards the men.

“The men who are going to make you wish you’d never threatened our woman. Beth, lass, please tell me this isn’t the pissant you had planned to marry? I can see now why my uncle didn’t like him.”

Beth couldn’t help the tears flowing down her face. She was afraid to look away for fear it was all a dream.

“Fuck you! You can have the bitch…”

Doug didn’t get to finish his sentence because as soon as he called Beth a bitch, he was out cold on the ground after a fist punched him in the face. Once Brodie had punched him, the entire bar erupted in cheers.

Beth watched as the three men walked behind the bar and surrounded her. When she felt each one lay a hand on her, she realized it wasn’t a dream, they were really standing in front of her and passed out.

When she came through, she was in the office on the small couch that Mac had placed in there for her to nap on when she was younger. When she moved, she felt a hand on her, stopping her from getting up.

“Careful, lass. You passed out. Are you ok?”

Beth looked up to see Jack sitting next to the couch where she laid. She hadn’t been dreaming of them walking into the bar.

“You’re really here!” She whispered, loud enough for them to hear.

“Aye, lass. We are. Sorry it took us a bit. We’ve been on assignment for a few months. Arrived home a couple of weeks ago.” Brodie answered from the wall by the door.

“Do you have something that you need to tell us, lass?” Jack asked, drawing her attention back to him.

“N-no. I mean, I’ve been waiting to hear back from the attorney in London about what Brodie and his family wanted done with the bar. T-the books are on the desk. The account Mac had set up for the bar has all the earnings in it. I’ve only used what was needed to run the bar. All the receipts are in the book too.” Beth stammered out looking over at Brodie, fear she’d done something wrong.

“Beth, I don’t give a shit about the bar. The bar was left to you in my uncle’s will. When were you going to contact us and tell us that you were pregnant?” Brodie asked, pushing away from the wall and coming towards the couch.

“How the hell would I have done that? I didn’t have a way to contact any of you. We never exchanged numbers. When you guys were called back to your base, you kissed me and then left. I had no way of getting in touch with you. I doubt you wanted your mother to know what had happened that week in Scotland. Hell, as far as I knew you three probably had forgotten about me and moved on to the next woman when you guys were done with your assignment!”

“Forgot about you? You really thought we’d forget about you?” Jack asked in shock at her statement.

“Really? You’re shocked I would think that? Have you guys even looked at yourself in the mirror? You four could have any woman in the fucking world. Why would I even think it would be me? A nobody from KY. Let’s not forget you four also live in London while you’re military.”

“Because we told you that you were ours, Beth.”

Beth looked over at Angus for the first time when he spoke. God the man was good-looking as hell.

“You said it in the heat of the moment while you were fucking me, Angus.”

“I meant every word I said, even with my cock inside that sweet pussy of yours, lass. You are ours. We branded you from the moment you accepted us inside that body of yours.”

“Then what took you so fucking long?” Beth sobbed at Angus’s words.

“Lass, when was the last time you’ve had any real sleep? Your friend at the bar said You’ve been running the bar alone for the last four and a half months.” Jack asked, touching her wrist as he monitored her vitals.

“I can only sleep for a few hours at a time. I close the bar down at midnight, usually getting to bed around two in the morning. I’m back up at six am doing the books and cleaning up what I didn’t get before going to bed. I do the inventory and get things ready for opening at noon for the lunch crowd.”

“So, roughly four hours a night. How many days a week do you keep the bar open?” Brodie asked, leaning down towards her at her feet.

“Six days a week. Keeping Mondays closed for doctor appointments and such.”

“When was your last appointment, Beth?” Jack asked, pulling her attention back to him.

“T-two weeks ago.”

“What’s wrong, Jack?” Brodie asked, concern in his voice.

“She’s overworked and not resting properly. The medic said her blood pressure was elevated and the fact her lips are dry tells me she’s dehydrated.”

“Brodie, close the bar for the rest of the night. Jack, let’s get our lass in her bed so she can get some proper rest. We’ll deal with the rest later. I’ll see what I can do about food for everyone. She needs proper nutrition and plenty of fluids. Beth, are you still staying above the bar?” Angus asked, taking control of everything.

“Y-yes. You can’t close the bar. Tonight is one of the busiest nights due to the local college football game. The place will be packed. The new bartender I hired last week and two of the new waitresses will be here soon to help work the crowd.” Beth pleaded with the guys.
