Cassidy Chapter 7- Current Day

My napping was at an end. I’d been lost in memories of Sean and me and how we’d gotten to this point. I guess overall, they’d been happy ones, although we did have our moments. Complicated described us. Jumping as another contraction hit me, I tried to move in the bed. My eyes opened. Sean was standing over me with a concerned look.

“Foxy, what can I do for you? Are you in pain? I thought the epidural was supposed to stop that.”

“It’s not painful, just more pressure. The contractions are getting more intense and closer together. It means we’re closer to meeting our son.”

Ignoring hospital rules, he lowered the bedrail and gently moved me over to make as much room as possible for himself. He had to lay on his side, but he did it. I snuggled into his chest. I always felt better when he was near and could hold me, and I could inhale his scent.

His hands began to rub my back and side. He kissed me, and it was a long and sweet one. When he stopped, I wanted to beg him to continue, but he had something to say. “I can’t believe we’re here. It’s been over four years since we finally got our shit together. I’ve loved every damn day of it, but having Noah and now Nash, I can’t tell you how it makes me feel. I never knew I could love anyone until I met Mark, Griffin, and Gabe. Then we came home, and I discovered you and Adam and then Jessie and Graden. I thought I’d won the lottery when I never truly had anyone love me. It was too much to expect anyone to love me the way you did and do. Now, to have you and the kids to love and have you love me back. It’s a goddamn gift beyond any gift.”

I knew his past and why he’d been so stubborn about admitting he loved me. We’d worked that out years ago, but he was still, at times, haunted by it. He got moments of worry that he didn’t deserve us or that he’d lose us. I found I had to help him through those. He never saw himself as a gift, which he was to me.

“Honey, we’re all blessed. I feel the same way about you and the kids. I can’t think of what I did to deserve you and them. And to have Gabe and Griffin. And don’t get me started on having Mark back. Then, they added Sloan, Gemma, and Hadley to the mix. I have sisters! And a niece and nephew with another coming. My life is so blessed, but it wouldn’t be half as wonderful if it weren’t for you, Noah, and Nash. I love you, Sean Walterson, more every day.”

His mouth crashing down on mine was his answer to my declaration. He kissed me passionately. So much so that even though I was in labor, I responded. My nipples hardened, and I was sure my pussy got slick. The man could probably turn me on in the middle of a gunfight. He was potent, to say the least. When he finally let go of me, I was panting. He smirked. I smacked my hand onto his chest.

“Bastard, you did that on purpose.”

“Hey, I can’t help if you took it that way. And you’re not innocent. See.” His hand captured mine. It was brought between us, so I could feel his erection straining against his zipper. To pay him back, I squeezed then rubbed up and down his bulge.

He growled in warning. “If you don’t stop, the nurses and Doc Maggio will come in and find my cock in that sexy mouth.”

I knew he was teasing me, but the thought made me hotter. “Baby, I’ll suck your cock anytime, anyplace. If you can make it so I can reach you, I’m game,” I taunted as I rubbed his erection harder.

He groaned louder and closed his eyes. I kept going, and I was wondering if I would get him off in his jeans when there was a knock on the door. He yanked the sheet up over us and hoarsely yelled, “Come in.”

The door opened, and in came Mark and Sloan. My brother walked to the bed. He shook his head. “If you two are carrying on, stop it. Christ, she hasn’t even had the second one, and you’re trying to get her pregnant again?”

The old me would’ve been mortified that my brother knew I’d been fooling around. Sean had cured me of that. He didn’t believe in hiding our feelings. He kept us from being arrested, but that was it. Sloan was reprimanding Mark.

“Stop it! As if you’re any better.”

He smiled at her, tenderly placing his hand on her flat stomach and rubbing back and forth. “What can I say? You’re fucking irresistible, and I’m potent.”

As his words sank in, I gasped and tried to wiggle to face them better. Sean shifted me. “Potent? Are you telling us something, brother?” I asked excitedly.

Sloan sighed. “We were waiting until I was twelve weeks to say anything. Plus, we didn’t want to steal the spotlight from you two or Griff and Hadley. Their baby is due before ours.”

I clapped my hands and squealed for joy. Sloan smiled, and Mark smirked. “When are you due?” I asked.

“March twenty-third, six weeks after Hadley. I knew he couldn’t keep quiet much longer. The man can’t keep a secret,” she joked.

“Hey, I keep secrets better than anyone,” he protested, and what he said was the truth. He’d kept the fact he wasn’t dead and his real identity a secret for five years.

“Don’t remind us. Did you just come in to check on us, or was there something else?” I asked.

“Well, it wasn’t to see you two getting it on. We wanted to see how it was going. We have an anxious crew waiting to meet this little guy. Can you hurry it up, sis?” Mark added with a wink.

“Oh sure, let me adhere to your schedule! God, he thinks he can make anyone adhere to his wants and needs,” I huffed, although I wasn’t truly upset.

“Damn right. If people would listen, things would go much smoother. Listen here, Nash, this is your Uncle Mark. We want to meet you, so get a move on. There’s a whole shitload of spoiling waiting out here. And before you know it, you’ll be out shooting and having all sorts of other fun with me, Uncle Griff, Uncle Gabe, and your dad. We have plans.” he directed to my stomach.

Sloan and I met each other’s eyes and rolled them. There was no way to counter that, so we didn’t even try. His remarks got Sean and Mark talking about future trips they planned to take the boys on. Sloan interrupted them.

“Whoa, wait a minute. Don’t think for an instant Greer and or any other daughters we have are to be excluded. I’d think with me and Cassidy here, you’d know that wasn’t happening. And I wouldn’t let Gemma or Hadley hear you talk like this. Our girls will be as trained to protect themselves and others as our boys.”

“Slo, no one is excluding our daughters,” Mark assured her as she gave him a narrow-eyed look.

“Babe, our girls will be doubly trained,” Sean informed me.

That led to what would’ve been a good debate, but my next contraction hit, and all else was forgotten. This one was much harder. I checked the machine. The spike was the highest yet. The door opened, and in came my nurse. My excitement doubled as she worked to check the machine and then shooed out Mark and Sloan so she could check how dilated I was. It wouldn’t be long until I met our son. I couldn’t wait. The grin on Sean’s face told me he could hardly wait, either.
