Epilogue: Several days later
As I stood at the altar beside Glowacki, my insides churned with a mix of nerves and excitement. We’d decided to have a joint wedding, and now here we were, anxiously waiting for our brides to arrive.
As soon as I had recovered enough to get out and about, I took Sonia ring shopping and then to a fancy restaurant where a string quartet played in the background, and I proposed to her properly down on one knee as I’d always imagined I would. Then, the following day, we went to my tattooist, and she watched as I had our names entered into the blank scroll on my hip. I’d already explained its significance, and she was delighted to see the end result; our names would be entwined forever.
A couple of days later, Siri met his demise, but not until after we’d gotten every last drop of information from him we could. Our special brand of persuasion had been very effective.
Jadwa’s location had been discovered, and Anton had arranged for some trusted mercenaries to rescue her.
Sean and Juana had now taken her abroad to a secret location. Sean did have a thing going with Juana, as we all suspected, and so he went with them and won’t be returning. We would be needing another informant handler in the future.
Unfortunately, the Somali MP was not in the country at the time, but now that Jadwa was safe, we’d had a bounty put on his head, and it was just a matter of time until he paid for his sins.
Siri confirmed the information we’d received from Juana about his part in Krissa’s murder.
When she was initially picked up, she was just a random girl to the coke-fuelled bastards, but then Petrov recognised her. He’d contacted Siri with a view to ransoming her. However, Siri then contacted the lawyer working for our anonymous enemy and was told to have her killed instead. So, while Siri didn’t take part in Krissa’s murder, he was an accomplice, and Ash, in particular, took special delight in making him pay for that.
We still didn’t have a name for the anonymous enemy. However, Marko used his famous hacking skills and found some interesting photos of the lawyer who did his dirty work on his laptop. Miki was planning on blackmailing information out of the man very soon. The pawns were all gone, and now we had begun closing in on the main players. We needed to stop them before they could make any more moves against us.
The music started, and I pushed all thoughts of enemies out of my head, refusing to let them spoil the day.
The crowd hushed as first Uncle Maxim appeared with Aunt Marta on his arm and then Miki with Sonia on his.
Both men looked equally proud and both women were stunning, but I only had eyes for my Little Miss Trouble. She took my breath away, and I couldn’t contain my grin as she walked towards me.
My heart clenched with love as she reached my side and smiled.
No matter what the future held, right this minute, I was about to marry the woman I loved, and life could not be better.
