Chapter Five
After taking a cab to pick up Travis’ SUV from where he had been arrested, Pierre headed for the police station with a racing mind. Not a single thought was for Travis. The oldest Cattaneo son was the most vicious and capable of the bunch. Pierre never needed to worry about him. Other than keeping him out of jail, of course. His every thought was for Lennox. He had so desperately wanted where their night had been headed. Pierre nearly whimpered just thinking about it. When he had pulled that shirt from Lennox’s body, fuck. His stomach muscles tightened at the memory. So hard. Cut. Perfect. Jesus, he wanted to turn around. Instead, he parked, pasted on a cold expression, and headed inside the station.
Everyone knew him. This was a familiar game. Pierre walked to exactly where he knew Travis would be. No one stopped him. In fact, they buzzed him through doors without checking his ID. He found Travis in the first interrogation room he came to. There was blood on his shirt and his lip was split. That was nothing compared to his knuckles.
“What’s this about?”
A young officer looked Pierre’s way. They hadn’t met. An inner sigh rang through Pierre’s head. It was always the new recruits, trying to make a name for themselves. “Who are you?”
“Pierre Fortin, his solicitor. What is this about?” he repeated, letting ice fill his words. He knew Travis hadn’t said a damn word since encountering the officer. The entire family was well-versed in these situations.
“We got a call about a brawl in a bar downtown. When I got there, I found this one bloodied and standing over an unconscious man.”
Pierre’s eyebrows rose. “Were there any witnesses?”
The guy’s brown gaze slid away. He looked uncomfortable. “Oddly, no.”
“And your alleged victim?”
“He claims he tripped.”
Pierre’s eye twitched. He hated dealing with the police. “Do you have any evidence at all my client is responsible?”
The guy’s hackles rose. “Look at him. He’s covered in blood. Look at his lip.”
“What did you do to your lip, Travis?”
Cold blue eyes never wavered from the officer—like he memorized every detail for future retribution. “I fell.”
“There. He fell. Now, if you don’t have any real evidence, we’ll be leaving.”
The guy shot to his feet. “Not yet, you won’t. I’m just waiting on a warrant for DNA.”
Pierre snorted.
Travis did too.
The cop looked between them. He opened his mouth, obviously intent on spouting more bullshit.
Another cop stuck his head in the door. “Warrant was denied. You can’t hold him.”
Pierre motioned for Travis to stand. “Let’s go.” As Travis headed into the hall, he stopped to exchange pleasantries with several police officers he knew. They smiled and laughed while Pierre focused on the new guy. “In the future, steer clear of my client. This won’t go well for you.”
“Did you just threaten me?”
A cold smile stretched Pierre’s lips. “Not at all. You’ll learn.” Pierre walked away and headed for the parking lot. He climbed into the passenger seat and waited.
Travis finally emerged and climbed behind the wheel. “Thanks for picking up my ride.”
“It’s no problem. I was on a date, so the SUV was actually a shorter cab ride than going all the way home for my car.”
Travis shot him an apologetic look. “I’m sorry, man. I didn’t mean to bother you on your night off.”
Pierre made a dismissive gesture, even though he was irritated. This was his job. He got paid very well for it. “It’s all right. I’ll survive.”
While backing from the lot, Travis kept up his side of the conversation. “Still, you deserve to have a life too. Who is the guy? Do I know him?”
Pierre had always liked Travis, but he was also a little terrifying. The way he could turn off the side of himself that had just been arrested for nearly beating a man to death was eerie. It was like he wasn’t covered in blood that wasn’t his. Likely, Travis would have killed that man if the police hadn’t shown. Now, he acted as if they were simply out for a drive.
Pierre followed his lead. “Possibly, since he was at the New Year’s party. Lennox Tremblay.”
“No shit, really?” Travis shot him a glance. “The hockey player? He was at the party? I didn’t see him. I would’ve loved to have met him. He’s amazing on the ice.”
“I forgot you’re a hockey fan. It’s something I’ve been trying to follow since meeting Lennox. I’ll admit I don’t understand most of the rules, but I’m trying.”
A huge smile stretched Travis’ lips. “We should go to a game sometime. Allison doesn’t care for it and no one else in the family follows the sport other than Barrett, and of course he lives in New Orleans now. I got into it while watching Storm play. It’s brutal.”
It was that. The youngest Cattaneo was married to a huge American hockey star. Storm had grown up right alongside the family. He had been family even before marrying Barrett. Since Travis was like a second father to all the boys, it didn’t surprise Pierre to learn he followed a sport simply out of loyalty to his little brother and Storm.
“I went to tonight’s game. It was a lot of fun. I can talk to Lennox to see what I need to do to get us a couple of good seats whenever you’re up to go.”
Travis nodded. “Sounds good.” He fell silent for a moment. When he spoke again, he sounded regretful. “About tonight.”
“You don’t have to explain,” Pierre said, cutting him off. He never expected explanations.
Travis nodded again. “I know, but I interrupted a date for this, so I kind of feel like I should. This was the first night in forever Allison and I actually got to go out. You know, for like a date night.” Pierre didn’t doubt that. They had like a hundred kids. “That dude cornered Allison when she left the bathroom. He got handsy.” A muscle jumped in Travis’ jaw. Pierre couldn’t believe the guy lived after that. Nothing mattered more to Travis than his wife.
“It sounds like you did the right thing.”
Travis’ muscles visibly relaxed. “Let’s hope Allison feels the same way. Our first night out in years and it ended in me getting arrested.”
Pierre’s heart went out to Allison. He was just their attorney and sometimes it exhausted him. Allison probably spent her days always expecting the worst. “She loves you. I’m sure it’ll be fine. Who has the kids tonight?”
“They’re spending the night with Tavey and Hugo.”
Pierre nodded, even though Travis wasn’t looking at him. “Then you have the rest of the night to make it up to her.”
Travis flashed him a smile. “True. I guess I’m doubly grateful you got there as fast as you did.”
Despite everything, Pierre couldn’t help but smile. No doubt there would be another damn Travis baby in nine months. He swore they must be the most fertile people on the planet. It was too bad his nonexistent sex life had taken the hit for this. “I’m glad I could help.”
As they pulled into the driveway, Pierre spotted Allison sitting on the front steps. She stood the moment their headlights swept across her. She ran to the vehicle and yanked open the driver’s side door.
“Thank God. I was so scared that trigger-happy new guy would shoot you before Pierre got there.”
Pierre didn’t stick around to listen to Travis comforting her. He was sure they were ready to go home. Without looking back, he went inside and headed straight for where he left his roses. He didn’t pass anyone along the way. After grabbing the vase, he made the trek to the other end of the house to his suite. He was tired, but he wasn’t. It was like he was mentally exhausted. He had truly needed a night with Lennox. Not just sex, but a night for himself. He needed something just for him.
He opened the door. Lennox sat on his couch, holding another dozen roses. “Mrs. Cattaneo showed me where I could wait.”
The smile stretching Pierre’s lips was out of his control. He had never been happier to see anyone in his life. “Thank God.” Pierre closed the door behind him. This was exactly what he needed.
Lennox had made it five minutes before he was right behind Pierre. He had figured he would have time to grab Pierre more flowers before Pierre got home. Lennox had no clue how long things took at the police station. He had never been arrested. The expression Pierre wore made the wait worth it. The way Pierre had lit at the sight of him warmed his chest. Pierre wanted him there. That was all Lennox needed to know.
Pierre set the vase of flowers he held on a sideboard by the door and crossed the room. Lennox held the new flowers out to Pierre. He laughed as he accepted. “Twice in one day. You’ll spoil me.” Pierre sniffed them before setting them on the coffee table.
Lennox snagged his waist and pulled Pierre onto his lap. “Good. You deserve to be spoiled. Did you get everything done? Are you mine for the night?”
“Absolutely.” Pierre eyed him for a second. “I thought I got you out of this shirt already.”
Lennox scrambled out of his shirt. The less clothes, the better. “My apologies. I don’t want to disappoint you.”
Pierre laughed. He stroked Lennox’s chest while inspecting his body with hunger in his eyes. “I’m definitely not disappointed.” He licked Lennox’s nipple before sucking the hardened bud into his mouth.
Lennox's head fell back against the couch. Chill bumps rose on his skin. Pierre’s fingertips trailed down his abdomen before tugging the button loose on his jeans. Lennox thought he might die from the lust. He stole Pierre’s shirt and then stood, holding Pierre. Lennox twisted and took Pierre down onto the couch. He worked on Pierre’s jeans, peeling them from the man’s body before going in for the kiss he wanted. Lennox had Pierre nude now. There was no escape. His mouth moved to Pierre’s throat. He sucked while unzipping his jeans.
“ Mon Dieu .”
The whispered plea did something to Lennox’s chest. He couldn’t get inside Pierre fast enough, but he also wanted Pierre to come back for more. Lennox kissed a path down Pierre’s body while he dug the foil packages he carried from his pocket as he went. He had shoved the condom and lube bead in his jeans at the last second before leaving. There was no way he could show up unprepared. With his attention split between opening the bead and seducing Pierre, he licked Pierre’s erection. He hid a smile at Pierre’s gasp.
The second Lennox had the package open, he went to work. He licked his fingers before he took Pierre to the back of his throat. Lennox toyed with Pierre’s hole, teasing and stretching him before slipping the bead inside. It would take a minute to dissolve, giving Lennox enough time to get Pierre as hot as possible. He switched between sucking Pierre and shimmying out of his jeans. Lennox quickly rolled the condom down his length before going right back to worshipping Pierre’s cock. The sounds Pierre made drove him insane. He didn’t know how Pierre moaned with a French accent, but the sound was like getting his dick stroked.
Lennox fingered Pierre. The bead was doing its job. He made sure Pierre was completely ready before he kissed a path back to Pierre’s mouth. “You can still say no.” He almost laughed at the growl that escaped Pierre at his offer.
“Fuck me already.”
That was all Lennox needed to hear. He impaled Pierre. Lennox had to hold still once he was inside. Pierre was so hot on his dick. “Fuck.” He squeezed his eyes closed, calling his body under control. It had been a long time since he felt like this. This was more than sex. He wasn’t trying to get off and leave. Pierre was perfect, and Lennox wanted more with him. Having his heart involved changed everything. He was overwhelmed. “Give me a second. You feel too good.”
Pierre gnawed at his earlobe.
Lennox fought to breathe.
Pierre’s fingertips skimmed his back.
Lennox lost control. He grabbed Pierre’s legs, held him in place, and used him. The way Pierre cried for more kept Lennox going. He couldn’t understand half of what Pierre said. The pulse in his ears drowned out everything. All he cared about was the way Pierre’s body tugged at his cock. He took what he wanted. With one foot braced on the floor, he fucked Pierre. Lennox had shown up ready to make love all night. Instead, he was out of control. The way Pierre clawed his skin and begged, screamed he was getting exactly what he wanted. Lennox thought he would lose his mind. His balls were tight, and pressure beat at his crown. He was balanced to blow.
“Fuck, Lennox.” The shout was all the warning Lennox got before Pierre’s body stole his soul. Cum shot from Pierre and reality disappeared.
Lennox fought for his life as the most powerful orgasm he could recall tore through him. He cried out and slammed himself inside Pierre. Lennox wasn’t gentle. It was like he needed Pierre to understand he belonged to Lennox now. The orgasm had barely passed before Lennox was on his feet with Pierre in his arms. He carried Pierre to bed. This wasn’t over. He wasn’t finished. Lennox just needed to catch his breath. Then he would be right back inside Pierre. Lennox was hooked.
