Chapter Four

He couldn’t say he had never considered what it might be like to be seen with a celebrity. The Cattaneo’s youngest son was married to a huge star. Not to mention, being the attorney of mafia royalty also came with perks. But going to dinner after a big win, with the man who made the winning goal, was on a whole other level.

Maybe it had been Pierre’s choice of restaurant the night before, or maybe it was because so many game goers were also getting dinner. Whatever the reason, Pierre watched in half humor and half horror as Lennox was bombarded with fans while he tried to eat.

Lennox kept flashing him an apologetic smile. “Sorry. I guess we should’ve gotten something to go.”

Pierre shook his head. “It’s fine. I’m unbothered. You deserve all the attention.” Plus, having Lennox’s attention elsewhere gave Pierre time to think about that kiss. Wow. It had been a long time since he kissed anyone like that. Honestly, it was kind of depressing, but it had been years since any sexual encounter hadn’t been lackluster with the bare minimum of kissing. Hell, the bare minimum of touching. Life had become drab and colorless. He missed the passion Lennox had shown him. If Lennox had wanted, Pierre would have gone home with him that second. It seemed Lennox was determined to court him properly. How disappointing.

“I want to give my attention to you.”

Pierre took a sip of wine before responding. “You will.” God, even Pierre heard the sexual tension in his voice.

For a moment, Lennox simply stared at him. Then his gaze moved over Pierre’s shoulder. He motioned for their server. While Pierre watched, Lennox handed off a couple of hundreds for their meal and stood. Then his gorgeous eyes focused on Pierre once more.

“Let’s go. I think you’ve teased me enough.”

Pierre didn’t think he had teased him anywhere near enough, but he wasn’t about to argue. He tried measuring his movements, so it didn’t look like he scrambled to his feet. Pierre swore he felt Lennox’s heated gaze upon him as he headed for the door. It was like he was being stalked. Butterflies stirred inside him. Chill bumps rose on his skin. He felt younger and sexier than he had in ages. It truly felt like Lennox would pounce any second. The thrill of it all was almost scandalous. Pierre knew there was a real possibility this might only be for one night. Lots of men talked a big game, saying whatever it took to get whatever they wanted. If that turned out to be the case, then he had one more night of fun to file away for reliving the glory days. Whatever happened, Lennox was worth the risk.

If Lennox had ever known hunger like this, he couldn’t recall it. That kiss still had him fucked up. Then Pierre had watched him all through dinner with promise flashing in his eyes. Lennox was almost scared of what Pierre might do to him. Maybe he would look like an inexperienced teen by comparison. He didn’t want that for a lot of reasons. Mostly, he hadn’t been simply spitting lines earlier. Communication was sexy as fuck, and he wanted everything with Pierre. Pierre was a hundred percent relationship material. He was the kind of guy Lennox could take home to meet his family, if he had any worth meeting. Pierre made him proud to be seen with him. Lennox desperately wanted this to be more than one night.

The drive to his house was made mostly in silence, adding to his nervousness. He kept bringing their joined hands to his lips to kiss Pierre’s knuckles. His every brain cell was locked on pleasing Pierre. By the time they reached his house, Lennox was ready to run inside. He didn’t know how much patience he had left. Somehow, he managed to calmly step from the truck. Pierre followed. Hand in hand, Lennox led Pierre inside.

“Oh, I forgot. Thank you for the flowers.”

Lennox blinked. Honestly, he had forgotten he sent them. “You don’t have to thank me.”

“I do. It was a lovely gesture. No one ever thinks of me like that.”

Lennox found that hard to believe. He imagined he had tons of competition, and one day soon he would find out the hard way. “You’re beautiful. You deserve to get flowers every day.”

For a moment, they held each other’s stare in silence. Pierre looked away first. “This is a nice house.”

Lennox didn’t want to change the subject. He craved the heat that kept building between them. “Can I get you a glass of wine?”

Pierre flashed him a sweet smile. “That sounds nice.”

As Lennox led Pierre to the couch, he eyed him. Dressed casually, Pierre was every bit as handsome as he was in an expensive suit. His red polo shirt complemented his skin tone perfectly. The dark jeans he wore cupped his ass the way Lennox wanted to do. Reluctantly, Lennox left Pierre on the couch while he went to the kitchen for wine. He grabbed the first bottle he spotted on the wine rack. With his mind locked firmly on where this night was headed, he poured two glasses and rejoined Pierre. Pierre watched his approach with heat in his eyes. Lennox called on his patience as he handed Pierre a glass. He filled the spot next to Pierre, sitting as closely as possible.

“ Merci .” Pierre took a sip. He immediately set the glass on the coffee table. Before Lennox could ask if there was a problem, Pierre straddled his lap.

Lennox practically tossed his glass on the end table. He grabbed two handfuls of Pierre’s ass and hauled him closer as Pierre’s mouth covered his. Life disappeared. It was just them, and the way Pierre’s tongue moved inside his mouth. Lennox’s heart raced. His dick hardened. He was starving for Pierre. His hands found their way beneath Pierre’s shirt. He moaned at the sensation of soft skin beneath his fingertips. Pierre tugged at Lennox’s shirt, stealing it. Their mouths immediately returned to each other. Lennox followed the waistband of Pierre’s jeans, headed for the button. A phone rang.

Pierre sat back on his heels, frozen. It rang again. Pierre shot to his feet and dug into his pocket. “This phone only rings in emergencies.” He pressed the device to his ear. “Hello?” His expression turned intense. With the flush of passion still riding his cheeks and his lips swollen from their kisses, he was the picture of a man about to get fucked. Lennox wanted him back on his lap. “I’ll be there in ten.”

Lennox bit back a groan. He wanted this so badly. “What’s wrong?”

Pierre shoved the phone back in his pocket. “I’m so sorry. I’m needed at the police station.”

The way Lennox had to fight not to roll his eyes almost hurt him. He hated that Pierre represented a crime family, mostly because it stole him away right now. “I understand.”

Pierre looked truly upset. “Thank you for everything. Can we pick this up tomorrow?”

“Of course.” What else could Lennox say? “Do you need a lift to the station?”

Pierre shook his head. “I’ll take a cab. There’s a lot more to it than going to the station.” He flashed a sad smile. “Attorney-client privilege and all.”

“Of course.” Lennox had no idea why that was all he could say. He stood. “I had a great time.”

Pierre smiled. It was gorgeous and sweet. “Me too.”

Lennox stole another kiss before Pierre practically ran for the door. The moment he was alone, Lennox dropped back onto the couch. He stared at the ceiling. Sometimes Pierre felt like an impossible dream. He wondered if the guy really would set something up for tomorrow. Maybe he had arranged that call to get out of a night with Lennox. It was possible Pierre couldn’t overcome their age gap. He looked down at the bulge in his jeans. This would be a long night.
