Chapter Two
Geek
L EARNING ALANA WAS attacked in her apartment in Clifton Falls was a punch to the fucking gut. Over the years I’ve had a crush on her and that crush slowly morphed into so much more as we got older and realized that Alana is the only woman Ghost and I will ever want to have in our lives as something more than a random fuck to find our release. None of those women will ever compare to Alana and there’s no way in fuck we’re about to push her away or do anything that will ever jeopardize her being in our lives. Ghost gave me every single detail about his conversation with Cage and that we have his blessing to be with his daughter. That he knows we’re all in when it comes to Alana and that we’ll give her whatever the hell she needs from us. Every single word he said to Cage is something I can get behind because it’s how I truly feel when it comes to the girl we’ve both been in love with for as long as we can remember.
After working with Valor half the day on a job installing equipment for some new business a few towns over, I’m finally back at the clubhouse. Ghost is sitting at a table in the back where he usually sits all alone. No one ever sits there because everyone knows it’s his table. I don’t hesitate to make my way over to him and take a seat as I pull out a chair and take a seat with my best friend.
“How was work?” Ghost asks me, a smirk on his face because it was his day off today.
“Same as always. Valor and I installed more equipment for a bunch of assholes who don’t realize what the fuck they truly want. Thought they could give us orders about what’s needed and what we had to do. Valor shut that shit down really quick, but it doesn’t change the fact that these assholes are gonna be a pain movin’ forward. What did you do today?” I ask him, accepting the beer one of our Prospects brings over to me.
“Been thinkin’ about callin’ Alana to see how she’s doin’. Need to see where she’s at right now and let her know we’re ready for her,” he answers, pulling his phone out and setting it on the table in front of him.
“We’re really not ready for her though. There hasn’t been a room cleaned out for her, the house isn’t ready, and nothin’ else has been done to set up any appointments or anythin’ else for her yet,” I state, a small trace of anger lacing my voice with everything we have to do for our girl when she gets here.
“Okay. Let’s give her a call and see what she’s doin’. Once we’re done with that, we’ll figure out what to do first,” Ghost says, keeping a level head as I start to freak out with everything we’ll have to take care of.
I’m not going to slack in making sure Alana has everything she needs. We’ll make sure she has medicine, blankets, everything else that will make her decision to move here with us the right one for her. I don’t care if I have to spend all the money I’ve saved my entire life to ensure she’s comfortable and happy in Pine View with us. To me, it would be worth it.
“Hello,” Alana answers the phone, bringing me out of my head as her soft, melodic voice washes over us.
“Hey, Sweet Angel,” I respond, a smile on my face as Ghost looks up at me.
“Colton? Is Kaden with you?” she asks, making us both smile with the hint of excitement filling her voice.
“We’re both here,” Ghost answers as I move closer to him so not everyone in the common room overhears our conversation. “How are you doin’, Tink?”
“I’ve been better. I know you both know what’s going on with me. I’m currently with Reagan and Jameson. Remind me why I thought it was a good idea to visit my overbearing brother,” she says, making Ghost and I laugh because we all know how Jameson is with his sisters.
“It’s what you needed, Tink. How much longer are you gonna be up with them?” Ghost asks her, turning serious.
“I’m gonna finish out the week here with them and then head to Cedar Bay. Are you both still meeting me there?” Alana questions us, a slight bit of fear filling her voice.
“Yeah. Vault is ready to let us know when you’re there so we can head out. I’ve been workin’ with Valor to get as many jobs as possible out of the way so the security company isn’t a man down with a ton of installations to get done,” I inform her as I look around at everyone in the common room right now.
“Are you sure you can both take the time off to meet me there? I don’t plan on staying there long. It would just be nice to see Haley for a few days and see the kids. She needs to know I’m okay. I mean, I don’t look okay still, but I’ll get there,” she tells us as we look at one another with rage filling our eyes.
“Tink, we’re meetin’ you there. Don’t worry about what we have goin’ on here. You come first always. Now, what do you need us to do to get things ready for you here?” Ghost returns, his voice more serious than ever because he wants to ensure Alana’s comfort as much as I do.
“I’ve got my car loaded down with all of my stuff. Well, the stuff I wanted to bring with me right now. My dads and mom will bring the rest once I’m settled in. I know it’s just because they want to check on me, but I’m not gonna bitch about it at all. Other than that I’ll have to set up appointments with new doctors and a counselor once I get there. Will I be staying in the clubhouse with everyone?”
“If that’s what you need to do for now. We have a house, but it’s got nothin’ in it. We were waitin’ on you to get here before we did anythin’ with it. This will be our home and there’s no point in you bein’ there with shit you don’t like,” I tell her as we wait to hear what her response is to that.
“You’re that sure of us?” Alana queries, her voice shaking with emotion and I wish I could pull her into my arms and hold her close to make all of her fears and pain disappear.
“Tink, there’s never been a second of doubt in our minds. You’ve always been ours,” Ghost states with determination filling his voice.
“Sweet Angel, we gave you time to go to college and find your place in the world. We don’t want you to have any regrets about bein’ with us in the future. This is us stakin’ our claim on you and lettin’ you know that we’re all in, Alana. Is that what you want with us?” I ask, my heart stalling in my chest as we wait for her response.
“That’s what I want. I knew it growing up and it was reinforced even more when I saw you at King’s wedding. How are the newlyweds doing?”
“They’re great. About to have their little one any day now. Brynn is miserable and keeps bitchin’ at King for bein’ a giant and fillin’ her with giant babies,” Ghost tells her, a large smile on his face as the couple enter the common room with Brynn bitching about something.
“She was radiant when I did the maternity shoot for them. I can’t wait to watch King become a dad,” Alana says, excitement once again filling her voice. “I have to get off of here for now. Jameson and Reagan want the three of us to go out for dinner tonight. We’re leaving everyone else at the clubhouse so we can spend some time together.”
“Okay, Tink. Let us know when you leave there. If you need us to meet you before you get to Cedar Bay, call and we’ll get to you as soon as we can. I miss you and can’t wait to see you again,” Ghost says, staring at the phone.
“Yeah. Miss you, Sweet Angel, and I can’t wait to see you again. Anythin’ you need, let us know and we’ll make sure you have it,” I promise her.
“Miss you guys too. I’ll see you soon,” Alana says before hanging up and I lean back in my chair once again.
“King!” Brynn’s voice suddenly fills the common room as we all turn to see her standing just outside the door of the kitchen, staring down at the floor.
“Kitten, what’s wrong?” King asks, rushing to her side and almost falling on his ass when he slips in something on the floor in front of her.
“My water just broke. It’s too early, Kingston,” she tells him, fear filling her face as we all jump out of our seats and rush to surround the couple.
“Okay, Kitten. Let’s get you to the hospital. If someone could grab her bags from the house and bring them to the hospital. Vault, can you call Scathe and let him know what’s goin’ on? I’m gonna get my wife to the hospital,” King orders as he lifts Brynn up in his arms and rushes from the room with Jinx and Hope on his heels.
“Ghost and Geek, follow them to the hospital and make sure King isn’t the one drivin’. His head won’t be on the road and I won’t risk them because he’s behind the wheel. Jinx can drive. Devil, head to their house and get the bags. You know where they are. Everyone else get to the fuckin’ hospital so we can be there to support King and Brynn. I’ll call Scathe and Blood on my way there,” Vault orders everyone as Ghost and I rush from the room while Annabell starts ordering the women who will remain behind with the kids.
W e’ve been in the waiting room of the maternity ward for hours. Brynn and King talked and wanted to have the baby as natural as possible. It’s a birth plan they talked to all of us about because Brynn was gonna need someone with her if King was on a run or held up by club business. Brynn has been obsessed with making sure everything is set and ready to go when she finally went into labor. Right now, we’re all just waiting on an update from King about what’s going on. I really don’t see him leaving his wife’s side for any reason, but crazier things have happened before.
“When’s Alana gettin’ here?” Valor asks, sitting down with Ghost and me in the back corner of the waiting room.
“She’s spendin’ the rest of the week with Jameson and Reagan at the Fallen Brethren clubhouse. Then she’ll head to Cedar Bay to see Haley for a few days. We’ll meet her there and then head back here to get her settled in at the clubhouse,” I answer my boss as he looks at us with a smile on his face.
“So by the end of next week you should be back with her,” he states, a smile on his face as he looks up at us just as Hope rushes into the waiting room.
“They’re taking Brynn back for surgery. I don’t know what the hell is wrong but the baby or her are not doing very good. Something about a heartbeat slowing down and bleeding. King is losing his shit but Jinx is with him. We won’t be able to go into the operating room with them, but the nurses and doctor will keep him level-headed,” Hope informs us just as a commotion sounds from down the hall.
Turning my head, I watch as Brynn’s entire family enters the waiting room. Emersyn is in front of the men with Tonya at her side as crazed eyes look around at us all.
“Where’s my baby? Where is Brynn?” Emersyn questions us as Hope rushes up in front of them to answer her question.
“I’ll take you to her room now. They’re getting ready to take her in for a cesarean section. The doctors can let you know more about what’s going on. I know they’ll only let one person back in the operating room with her and King isn’t gonna leave her side,” Hope says, saying what we already know deep in our hearts.
“Oh, we know that. King has been worse than her dad, uncle, and grandpa combined since he learned she was pregnant. Our girl got a good one with King. Can you take us back there?” Emersyn says, a smile on her face that does nothing to take away from the fear filling her.
Hope leaves with Emersyn and Tonya on her heels as Blood, Ace, and Scathe take seats in the waiting room. Well, Scathe doesn’t take a seat. He immediately starts pacing the waiting room and I know he won’t stop until Emersyn comes back and gives him an update on his daughter. It’s how I would be in his shoes.
N o one’s talking in the waiting room as we all wait for any news of Brynn and the baby. It feels like an eternity has passed since we learned about her having to go into surgery. Emersyn hasn’t been able to get her husband to settle down at all. He’s still pacing the waiting room. Blood sits down for a minute and then gets up to pace with his son. Ace is sitting silent instead of cutting jokes like we’ve seen him do a little bit when the tension needs to be cut. Not a lot of people get to see that side of him and we’re among the lucky ones who have.
“Kingston! How’s my girl?” Emersyn questions as we all stand from our seats to see King leaning against the closest wall to the waiting room.
“Brynn and the babies are okay. One of the babies was in distress and that’s why she needed to be rushed into surgery. They’ll spend the rest of the day in the NICU for observation since they are early. Right now, the doctors don’t foresee any problems with them, but only time will tell. Brynn is in recovery right now and they booted me from the room so I could come up with the triplets,” King informs us all with a tired smile filled with fear in his eyes.
“Wait,” I call out, making everyone look in my direction. “Triplets? You and Brynn had triplets? Did you know about this before today?”
“We did. Brynn didn’t want anyone to know about the triplets or gender until they were born. It’s been so fuckin’ hard to keep this from everyone. Are my parents here yet?” King answers, his smile getting bigger at the shock on all our faces.
“We’re right here,” Kim says, entering the waiting room. “Did I hear you right that we have triplet grandbabies?”
“You did. They’re in the NICU right now and hopefully won’t have to stay there for very long. Brynn will be brought back up to her room soon. I’m gonna go see them now,” King returns, giving us their genders even if he wasn’t supposed to.
“Take us with you,” Scathe says, fear still covering his face as he steps up next to King with Emersyn tucked into his side.
We watch as the family makes their way to the NICU for the first time to see the newest additions to our growing family. Pulling out my phone, I send a message to Alana so she knows the babies are here and what’s going on. She really likes Brynn and King and I know she’d want to know they’re here before we get her in Pine View.
“Alright, why don’t the rest of us head back to the clubhouse. Devil, you stay here with King and the family. I have a feelin’ the rest of both clubs will be showin’ up. We have to get things in order at the clubhouse before that happens,” Vault says, getting out of his seat as we all follow his lead.
I know we’ll be back here in the morning because that’s what we do for family. For now, we have other things to take care of and worry about. Ghost and I head outside and make our way to our bikes before making our way back to the clubhouse. While everyone else is preparing for the other clubs to show up, Ghost and I will be preparing for our girl to get there. For now, no one needs to have the room she’ll be in. Vault has given her the one between Ghost and me so we’re both with her at all times. I want to make sure we hear her whenever she needs us.
