Chapter 36
The internet was annoying, but such a useful tool, too. In the beginning, Ezra hadn't realized how much he had to hide to keep the police from figuring out what he was doing. There was a trail of activities that could be connected to him from long ago. Lately, he'd learned to hide everything behind VPNs and secret browsers.
Searching for Danika had wasted way too much of his time. She was gone. He needed to focus on his work and not that bitch.
Work was beginning to get back on track, kind of. He had a delivery that had to be made, and he still needed to arrange the transportation. There were loads of things he needed to actually take care of, so why was he on the computer searching for information about her?
It pissed him off that she wouldn't leave him alone. His thoughts kept turning back to her, and it was ridiculous. He could find someone else to warm his bed, not that Danika had warmed anything of his during the last ten months she'd been with him. She'd turned into such a cold fish that he couldn't stand touching her .
He should be glad to be rid of her. She'd been trouble from the start. Her innocent act hadn't just been an act. She really hadn't understood what he was doing even though she was an active participant in stealing money from rich people.
Of course, she had the audacity to act offended when she figured it out. He'd come up with something to placate her, and that had worked until he'd wanted her to help him get a girl for a client. She'd put her foot down about that, telling him no way would she participate in taking people. That was when everything had gone to hell.
He'd done name searches and looked for information she might have posted before entering her photo into the search engine. It was a fool's task. He wouldn't ever find her. After clicking enter, he stood and turned to leave the room before glancing over his shoulder, shock filling him.
The search had returned a result. He dropped to the chair, studying the photo the search came back with. The shot had been posted a few days ago on social media. Danika wasn't in the foreground. Instead, she was in the background. But it was her. No question, that was Danika facing the camera.
He blew the image up to the point that it was grainy, and her face took up most of the screen. He ran his fingers over her face, anger and hate brewing with a healthy dose of lust.
After staring at the blurry image for way too long, he shrunk the photo back to normal size, seeing that Danika was standing with a man. Was she with that guy? A firestorm of anger drove him to toss the stapler across the room.
His breath came heavy as rage built. What was she doing with another guy? He wanted to push the computer off the desk and watch it break into a million pieces .
After a second of deep breathing, he calmed enough to study the photo. Where had it been taken? There was something behind Danika. He found the profile of the person who'd taken the photo and searched for clues. There were buildings, and then a scrubby looking area that seemed way too hot. Then, there was a photo of something he could identify.
"Is that the Hollywood sign?" He stared at the photos the person took. Unfortunately, they weren't really organized, but he knew where the person had been.
Hollywood, California.
Ezra rubbed his hands together, anger and revenge brewing. "That's where you are. I'll find you and make you pay."
