Chapter Fourteen

Scribe

Sons of Hell clubhouse, three days later...

Sitting at the bar, I stared at the documents before me.

For the last couple of days, I'd tried to think of any reason not to do what Priest asked me to do, and while I knew it was wrong to ignore his request, I couldn't come up with a valid reason to do it.

"You've been looking at that folder for three days now, Scribe. What the hell is in there?" King asked.

"Divorce papers," I muttered.

"For whom?"

Looking at one of my best friends, I whispered, "Priest and Phoebe."

King took a long, deep breath and frowned, staring at the large manila folder. "I see. So, what are you going to do?"

"I don't know."

"Your brother asked you to file those?"

I nodded. "And my sister made me promise, no matter what, to never do it."

"Got a choice to make, brother. Go against your brother or your sister."

Searching his face for any kind of hint, I asked, "What do I do, King?"

"Don't know, brother. This one isn't going to be easy. You know more than I do this time. All I can tell you is to follow your heart. You do what you think is best. Whatever you decide, I will support your decision," King stated, getting to his feet.

Patting me on the back, he said nothing more and merely walked away, leaving me to decide the fate of two people I loved dearly.
