Epilogue
Haisley sat on the patio, laughter spilling out as Peach chased little Jonathan around on his tricycle. She couldn't believe her life had turned out so wonderful. She'd talked to all the women about jobs and life and what she wanted to do and ended up getting into nursing. She wasn't a registered nurse yet, but she was young and working her way through different levels of schooling to get where she needed to be. Right now, she worked part-time for a local doctor's office as an assistant. It was a great job, with loads of opportunities to learn.
She was pregnant with her second child, this one totally planned. Peach was a great dad to Jonathan, and she knew he would be a great father to this little one.
The door opened behind her, and Ava and Wild stepped out, followed by Emma and Lila. Both girls squealed and raced over to Jonathan. They were great little babysitters. Not that they left the girls for too long with the duty, but they loved having the responsibility.
Next, Mel and Andy stepped outside. As soon as Erin saw Jonathan, she squealed and ran out to him. "Hey," Andy said as he patted Haisley on the shoulder.
"Hey, yourself. I heard you two were going to have another one."
Andy threw his arm over Mel’s shoulder. “Yeah, I talked her into it.”
"I wanted him to agree to push this one out of him, but it didn't work out that way."
They were all laughing when Bear and Ingrid stepped out, followed by Ethan and Mia. Everyone hugged, and Mia and Ethan went out to see the other kids.
Before they finished hugging, Harry and Rory, and Jax and Jessica arrived. She was glad they were moving to a bigger house. This little place wouldn't hold them much longer. Living here had been the happiest years of her life, even with Peach still going out on missions.
Tonight was just another gathering, nothing special. But with this gang, every picnic and pizza night was special. They were more than friends. They were family. Together, they celebrated victories and mourned losses. Luckily, they hadn't lost anyone on the team, only family members and a few friends. They took the good times and the bad, bonding and growing closer with each year. A few of the guys were talking about retirement, but nothing was set in stone. For now, they were one big happy family, and nothing could ever tear them apart.
