Chapter 40

The ambulance lights were going, but not the siren as they pulled off the main road onto the same road Andy's tracking application wanted them to take. They were going to the same place.

Peach grasped Andy’s shoulder, squeezing twice. They were all silent as they pulled up the long drive. Before Bear had the car in park, Andy was already out and running up to the porch. Peach didn’t waste any time and followed.

They raced past the ambulance and over to the door. Someone shouted, and Peach picked up speed, running faster. He took the steps two at a time and was inside to see two men trying to attack Andy.

Peach roared, anger spilling out as he grabbed the first man, pulling him from Andy and punching him so hard in the side of his head that he dropped to the floor and was out. The other man was Sheriff Eason. Peach hesitated for a second before he punched Eason in the face, then took him down to the floor.

He punched the man again and again. Wild was pulling Peach off and dragging him away as Bear and Jax pulled both men up and took them outside.

“Let me kill them,” Peach growled.

“Nope,” Wild said. “The police are coming. The guys on the ambulance told us. So they’ll be arrested and spend their lives in jail. You need to be here for Haisley.”

At Haisley’s name, Peach glanced over, seeing the shock on his woman’s face. The last thing he wanted was to scare her. He pulled himself out of Wild’s hold and moved to Haisley, dropping to his knees in front of her. His arms went around her as he rested his head against her belly.

Her fingers were in his hair, holding him close. “Peach!”

His name on her lips sounded so good it brought tears to his eyes. If anything had happened to her, he wouldn’t have stopped at Wild’s words.

After a moment, he stood and pressed his lips to Haisley's. This woman was his, and he planned on making sure her life was good.

The baby let out a cry, and he pulled back and searched the room. He saw Andy holding his daughter, and an emotion hit so deeply that it almost made him drop to the floor. He turned to meet Haisley's gaze.

“I want us to get married.”

Haisley nodded. He laid his hand between them and cupped her belly.

“This baby, I want to adopt it, or whatever we need to do so it knows I’m its daddy.”

“We’ll just put you on the birth certificate.”

“Can we do that?”

Haisley nodded. “If that’s what you want, that’s what we’ll do.”

"Good. Because we're a family. You're mine, and I'm yours. "

The paramedic was telling Mel she'd done a great job, but Mel interrupted him.

“Haisley, come here,” Mel said.

Peach followed Haisley over, his heart so full of love he knew he couldn’t contain it.

“Mel, are you okay?” Haisley asked.

“She delivered the baby. She helped so much.”

“Thank you,” Andy said. “Thank you for keeping her safe.”

“Always,” Haisley said.

Peach wasn’t sure what had happened, but he was glad both women and babies were okay. They would get to the bottom of how the women ended up out there in the forest, eventually.

The police showed up, and Haisley was happy to answer questions. The cops were shocked that the men who'd abducted her were from Georgia. It sounded like a fantasy, but with the information from the detective in San Diego, the weirdness added up to both of these men being guilty.

It was close to midnight when he and Haisley finally arrived home. Mel and the baby were doing great. Andy was still a little freaked out, but he would get over it.

“Hey,” Haisley said as she entered the bedroom.

"Hey, yourself."

“Hold me.”

“You got it. I’ll hold you every night until the end of time.”

He never wanted to let Haisley go. They were meant to be together. Now, he only had to figure out what had happened with his parents.
