Chapter 35
Iwatch her with the dragon, her head resting on his chest as he wraps his arms around her thin waist. Her black hair falls around her, creating soft shadows on her high, chiseled cheekbones. The contrast of those onyx locks against her pale face only serves to make her more alluring, more haunting. When she turns, her eyes remind me of streaks of bright, white sunlight, warming my frigid bones.
Mine.
She is a thing of beauty, something so ethereal that I find myself unable to peel my gaze away. As dark as she is light, she is the perfect dichotomy.
The shadows have been my home for as long as I can remember, for as long as I have existed.
But the moment my gaze landed on Nina Doe, I knew I would do something I never thought myself capable of—leave the darkness and embrace the light.
For her, I will climb out of the abyss. For her, I will no longer merely stalk the shadows, but the light as well.
Everything is for her. Always.
But for now, I watch. Observe. Listen.
The time will come when I will claim my sweet girl, but until then, I will remain in the dark.
