15. Dom
"What's going on with you?"
My jaw tightens at Thea's question. I try to figure out how to answer it. I don't think she'd appreciate it if I tell her that while she's trying to convince Breaker that I'm just a big brother to her now, I've been having more sex dreams about her than a forty-year-old virgin with blisters and calluses on his damn hands.
"Your brother pissed me off. Where does he get off questioning what our relationship is? Does he think I'm not good enough for you?"
"Uh…what?" she squeaks, but I ignore it.
"I know I've had my head in my ass most of my fucking life apparently, but damn it, Thea?—"
"Dom, let it go. Mattie is just overprotective. He knows how I used to be about you, and he was worried. He doesn't get it was a lifetime ago and things are different now."
Why does it feel like she just kicked me in the fucking balls?
"Yeah," I say, clearing my throat. "We're here."
"You really don't have to stand and wait for me. I'm a big girl." I don't respond, I just stare at her. "Fine!" she huffs. She turns to the door and frowns. "It's locked."
The club owns this place and we both know there are several stalls in the bathroom—which means the entrance door never locks. "Looks like someone is getting lucky," I explain with a smirk.
Thea's eyes dilate and then she opens her mouth, closes it and then a giggle bursts out. "Ew, gross."
"Gross?" I shake my head, laughing along with her.
"Sex in a public restroom? Yuck."
"I would have thought a woman would find that hot, knowing her man couldn't wait till they got home to have her."
"Well, first of all, if it's at a place like the Wolf's Den, it's most likely a drunk hookup."
"Not necessarily. I know one couple that hooked up in the back office and have been together half their lives. Still just as happy today."
"Dom, if you're about to tell me a sex story about my parents, I may have to kill you."
The mean look she gives me makes me laugh harder. "Nope, not your parents, mine."
"Uncle Dragon nailed my aunt in the office?"
"Yep."
"I don't think that's information I should have ever had," she mumbles.
"C'mon, I'll take you into the office?—"
"You'll what?" she squeaks out.
"Get your mind out of the gutter, Thea. There's a bathroom in there."
"Oh. Yikes, I'm sorry."
"What for?"
"For suggesting you wanted to take me there to, well… you know."
"To what?" I purr.
She slaps my arm. "Stop being a goofball. Let's go to the office. I really need to pee."
"Our conversations are just so sexy," I sigh out.
I put my hand back against the base of her spine, turning us to go to the other restroom. I'm grinning down at her, loving the way she's rolling her eyes at me. Thea never puts up with shit from anyone and damn, I like that. I've gotten so used to club candy, or random women just wanting to get it on with a member of the club that I think I've forgotten how good it feels to be real with someone. I used to think I had that with Gabby, but I know that's not true now. If Gabby was the person she pretended to be, she would have never lied to me. If I hadn't been so intent on trying to prove I hadn't wasted a huge chunk of my life on a woman who didn't deserve my trust and faith in her, I probably would have caught on a lot sooner. Thea was right for telling me I should have let no one come between me and T. I was weak and it's a fact that I'm still coming to terms with. We turn the corner, heading toward the office, when we both hear the door to the restroom open. As if we're on the same wavelength, we both stop walking.
"You're coming over tonight, Raze?"
Thea's head jerks around, and she walks back toward the bathroom. I try to catch her before she turns the corner, but she comes to an abrupt stop. My front hits her back, and I put my hand on her hip to make sure I don't cause her to fall. My hand slowly falls away as I see Raze standing in front of the bathroom door with Lilianna, of all the people. She's buttoning up her shirt in a way that you know it has been completely undone, and she's not wearing anything underneath her it, either. Her hair is mussed up and Raze is raking a hand through his.
"Anna," Raze breathes.
"You're going to have to tell her. There's no way I will allow you to leave my bed to go to her," Liliana huffs.
"I'll talk to Flame, if only to apologize. This shit we did will not be repeated. Us fucking, meant nothing. I don't?—"
"Don't bother worrying about telling me anything," Thea announces, sounding extremely calm—surprising, to say the least.
"Fuck," Raze growls, turning to look at us.
"Thea, I'm so sorry. I didn't want you to find out like this," Lilianna says, but you can tell she's lying. I even see the smirk on her face.
"Don't be. It doesn't bother me at all."
"Thea—"
"Save it, Raze," she says, her voice cold. She turns to look at me. "Can you take me home? I think I've had enough for one night."
"I'll take you home. We need to talk?—"
"We've said enough to one another, I think. It's okay. I might be embarrassed, but you didn't hurt me. You don't have that power. Dom?"
"I got you," I murmur. "Let's go."
"It's my job to take you—" Raze growls.
"I'm no one's job," she snaps. Then she turns and walks away.
I follow her, and we get to the front door before Raze catches up. He reaches out to grab Thea's shoulder and I push him away. "Leave her the fuck alone."
"You goin' to turn your back on me? We're brothers."
"Thea and I are family. I thought you understood what that meant when you put on your cut. I guess I was wrong." I drop my lips down to Thea's ear. "Let's go, honey. I'll get you home." She nods.
"You'll have to talk to me sooner or later, Flame."
"I vote for later. Maybe when I'm a hundred and three," she responds and doesn't bother turning around. "Dom will take me home, but hey, if you want to do something, then you can explain to my brother why I had to leave. Make something up. It appears you're really good at lying."
I smirk. I can't help it. I walk Thea out and move toward my bike. I started to skip tonight. I'm damn glad I didn't. "Want me to take you back to Breaker's?" I ask as we make it to my bike.
"Shit. I guess. I really don't want to go to Mom and Dad's. Although, to be honest, I don't think I want to face Mattie's questions either."
"I've got an idea," I hum.
"What's that?"
"Do you trust me?" I ask her.
Her gaze rakes over me and I find myself close to holding my breath until I hear her answer.
"Surprisingly enough, I do. Which is probably crazy, since you've seen first-hand how things work out when I decide to believe in someone."
"I'll make sure you aren't sorry," I answer with a grin. It's fucked up because I know Raze just hurt her. The thing is, I'm happy. For the first time in over a month, I feel like I can breathe. I get on my bike, and she slides on behind me.
"You put special bars on your bike, like Mattie's?" she asks.
You'd have to be completely stupid not to hear the pleasure in her voice. I make a silent vow to do everything I can to make sure Thea is happy from this moment on. It's a tall order, I know. But for the first time in a long time, I'm at peace. I'm exactly where I need to be.
With Thea… Shit.
