CHAPTER SIX

Lana stared at Jayson in surprise at the statement he just made. She knew that deep down she should admit her issue and hope he didn’t get upset with her.

“Okay. I admit I have trust issues, but I am working on them.”

“We will work on it together, baby. Everything will be okay. Now, give me those sexy lips so you can go inside and do your homework. I will pick you up at seven on the dot in the morning.”

“You don’t have to do that, Jayson. I can ride the bus.”

“I want to pick you up and bring you home. This is our time together. Next weekend, I want to take you on a proper date. Since you’re still new in town, I’ll pick the place and then we can go from there. Anything you like in particular?”

“I’m not picky. Pizza, burgers, and milkshakes are my weaknesses.”

Lana couldn’t help but smile as she admitted her favorite foods. Those were her comfort foods and things her mother used to take her out for when she’d had a bad day at school.

“I know just the place. Next Friday night, after the game, I’m taking you on our first official date.”

“Won’t you be tired after the game?”

“Nah, baby. I’m going to be wired after the game. I want to spend time with you. After the game, Saturday and Sunday if you’re ok with that?”

Lana looked up at Jayson. She didn’t know how she would spend the weekends now that she’d met Jayson.

Her father was adamant that she could not hang out with boys and would literally lose his shit if he found out she had a boyfriend. It was why he wouldn’t even let her have a cell phone and monitored her computer.

She didn’t even have a social media account because he was so overprotective of her. He’d even picked out the college for her to attend.

Her dad didn’t know about her Army dreams. Once she turned eighteen, she could sign on that dotted line without his permission and she knew he was going to blow a gasket.

“What’s that look for? Where’s your phone? I’m going to put my number in it and get yours.”

“I-I don’t have one. My dad won’t let me have one.”

Lana lowered her head in embarrassment. She knew she was the lamest kid in all of history.

“Okay. I can fix that.”

Lana looked up at Jayson’s no-nonsense statement. She couldn’t help but be confused when he just shrugged it off.

“Fix it? How?”

“I’ll get you a phone on my account. It was going to happen eventually once we got married down the road. I’ll just go take care of it now. Now, give me a kiss so you can go inside and get your homework done. I know you make dinner for your dad every evening. I’ll see you in the morning.”

Lana leaned toward Jayson, her elbow on the middle armrest, pushing herself towards his lips. Once their lips touched, Jayson took over the kiss.

His hand cupped the side of her neck and jawline as he tiled her head the way he wanted and devoured her mouth as if he was a man being fed for the first time in forever. Lana gripped his shirt, trying to pull him closer.

“Damn it, baby. You need to get inside. I need to go and get you a phone. I will have it with me in the morning when I pick you up. Go inside. I’ll wait until you’re safely inside before I leave.”

Lana couldn’t help the flush that creeped up her face when she looked down at Jayson’s crotch. Yep, he was hard as hell, and fuck if he wasn’t huge.

She got out of the car and walked up to her house. After letting herself in, she closed the door and heard his car leave shortly after shutting the front door.

The next couple of months went routine for Lana and Jayson. He would pick her up in the mornings and drop her off after football practice.

The nights they had a home football game, she would go to the games and cheer him on. Life seemed to be going great.

Now, if she could just convince Jayson she was ready for the next step! She wanted to know what it felt like to be truly and fully consumed by him.

Tonight was going to be their homecoming game. She wasn’t happy with how homecoming night was going.

While she was happy Jayson was nominated homecoming king, she wasn’t happy they made Ashe the homecoming queen. It took everything in her to not snatch a bitch bald.

She really wanted to punch Ashe when she looked directly at her and smirked as she snuggled into Jayson’s side. She had to talk herself out of storming the field and enacting her darkest fantasy of beating her into the ground.

She continued to cheer Jayson on despite the fact her heart hurt just a tiny bit. Especially due to the rumors that were going around about Jayson and Ashe still hooking up since she didn’t put out.

She didn’t know if Jayson knew about those rumors because they never talked about them. She often wondered if it was true but a large part of her didn’t think so, because as soon as he left, he was texting her that he missed her already.

At night, he would call and talk to her so that she fell asleep hearing his voice. He would text her good morning every day and let her know he was on the way, and he couldn’t wait to see her.

So much didn’t make sense right now but she tried her damnedest to stay positive. She hated that she had trust issues.

She blamed her dad in that aspect. He was always making her doubt herself and everything around her. She hated it with a passion and wished she could be more positive about life.
