12. Raine
CHAPTER 12
Raine
I 'm sitting alone in my shop and I've got roses scattered all around me while I work. I can't stop fidgeting and it seems like the time is dragging by.
It's four in the morning and I'm doing flowers which isn't that unusual.
But I've also left the door unlocked and the alarm off. Which is pretty much like saying, "Come and get me."
In a way, I hope he's too smart to fall into this trap. In another way I don't.
I need this over. I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired. And scared.
And almost like I'm wishing it, I hear a soft scrape of shoe leather in the back and I stiffen but keep my head down, my heart racing.
It doesn't take long.
"No blue roses? I could get some for you. I know that you love them."
I shake my head. "No. I don't. That's your thing."
He steps from the shadows and the grimace on his face scares the hell out of me. His lean face is red with anger.
"I don't believe that. And I know what you like. And what you deserve. You deserve someone so much better than that guy you've been sleeping with." The venom in his voice chills me to the bone.
"I love him."
"You're lying!" He screams and spittle flies out of his mouth.
That's it for me. I leap out of my chair and run for the door and he slams after me. I open it quickly and slip out, almost sobbing when I see the car lights cut through the dark.
He skids to a halt. His bewildered eyes meet mine. "Why?"
"Because you fucking scared me. And you broke into my house and messed with my things and my damn head. You're sick. You need help."
"I need you." I hate the whine in his voice.
Colt comes to handcuff him and he grunts, "You okay?"
I nod my head as Knight wraps me up in his arms and I finally feel safe.
"I will be."
Colt leads him off and Knight turns me to face him. "Did you think about what I asked you?"
I nod my head and smirk. "I've always wanted a knight in shining armor. So I think I might marry you after all."
"Damn straight you will. I've got to tie you down."
"Promises, promises," I purr.
He leans over and kisses me, his mouth firm and hot on mine. "I always keep my promises. I love you, Raine."
"I love you too, Gray."
"Finally," he huffs and I laugh, melting into his embrace. I've never felt so safe and loved.
I've got myself my very own Knight for Christmas. The lights on the trees twinkle almost as bright as his eyes and I giggle as he lifts me up and spins me around.
Colt growls but he'll get over it.
Nobody can resist a good love story. Especially not me.
