Chapter Six
Jensen
T rick nods, "Yeah, we're going to take care of it."
"Thank fuck," Trev replies and then adds with a slight smirk, "You realize how fucked up it is that a bunch of teenagers are capable of dealing with this shit, right?"
I snicker, "We aren't normal teenagers."
"I'll fucking say," Trev replies.
"Could you do me a favor and let me know if you hear anything from either school?" Cash asks Trev.
"Yeah, of course." He replies before continuing, "Are you going to loop Tomlinson in on it?"
Trick shakes his head, "Not if we can help it. There's so many fucking fights going on at the moment that bringing them in is just going to escalate matters, so I want to avoid it if we can."
"Good idea; I don't think it would be smart to get them involved unless you have no choice," Trev replies.
He knows them better than we do since he was the go-between the schools, and each of the schools trusted him. Mostly because he kept out of shit and never once proved himself to be untrustworthy. Now that he's not doing the bets at the Pit for us or any of the other things that he was involved in, several of the people that he thought were friends at Tomlinson have dropped him, a normal person would be at least a little bit hurt by this but he couldn't give a shit and says he's better off anyway.
"What's our first step then?" Rafe signs.
We all continue eating as we talk since we don't get that long for lunch.
"Do you know the name of the girl and who she hangs out with?" Cash asks Trev.
Trev pulls out his phone and starts tapping away, no doubt looking for the message that gave him the information in the first place.
"Yeah, so her name is Aurora Claims, and she hangs out with Tracy, Yasmin, and Rachel," he pauses as his face screws up slightly, "if I'm remembering correctly, they don't eat in here; they eat out by the lockers near the entrance."
"Got it," Cash replies, "thanks, man. So, that's where we should start first, we should talk to her friends and see if they know anything that could help us."
"Come on then," Trick says as he stands up.
I hold my hand up, "Do you think it's a good idea for all of us to go and question some freshman girls?"
The guys all share a slightly guilty look, and Trev bursts out laughing.
"He's right. You guys are fucking scary by yourselves, but when you're in a group, you're downright terrifying." Trev reminds us, "Plus, all the freshman girls have a crush on one or all of you."
"Fuck off," Riot retorts.
Trev throws his hands up, "If you want my opinion, I'd send Jensen and Cash."
"What, why?" Luc questions, sounding slightly offended while I smirk at him proudly.
"Well, Cash has that boy next door look about him that instantly puts people at ease, and by the way makes it so much more terrifying that you're as deadly as you are," Cash's responding smile is sharp and Trev doesn't even try to hide his shudder as he continues, "exactly, thanks for proving my point."
"No problem," Cash chuckles, returning to his light and happy self and the one that he shows the world.
He even scares the shit out of me when he turns the light off, the fucking dude is terrifying, and I say that as one of his best friends and someone who is capable of doing fucked up shit themselves.
Trev shakes his head, "Scary, dude. Just fucking scary. Anyway, as I was saying, Jensen should also go because he puts most people at ease pretty easily."
"And if he doesn't he will when he inevitably falls over air and makes them laugh," Riot adds, interrupting Trev and making everyone laugh.
I stick my middle finger up at him and grin as I say, "Fuck off."
Trick nods, getting us back on track as he says, "You both make very good points. Jensen and Cash go and talk to her friends and see if they'll tell you anything that's useful."
"You got it, boss," I reply, saluting him as I shove the last mouthful of food in and stand up. "It might be a good idea to get some details about this party they were at. If her friends aren't willing to talk to us, then someone who was there might have seen something that we can at least look into."
"Good idea," Rafe signs.
"If no one is willing to talk to us, then it's going to make it a lot harder for us to investigate and find out what's going on," Luc points out.
Trev bites his lip and then offers, "I can do some digging if you want; there are still a few people at Tomlinson who will talk to me. I can ask around and see if any of them know anything about it."
Before he's even finished speaking, all of us are shaking our heads, and Trick replies, "No, you're out, and we're going to respect that. It's more than enough that you're just listening to what you can find out here. I don't want you getting involved with this shit, something happening and then your future being fucked up because of it."
Trev smiles.
"He's right, and don't even think of going behind our backs because we're all going to be pissed," Riot adds.
Trev holds up his hands, "Alright guys, I hear you. I won't go poking my nose in anywhere that it doesn't belong. I will, however, keep my ear to the ground; people still like telling me stuff, and I'm good at listening without being noticed, too."
I grin, "Fair enough, just don't get caught. We like you, and it wouldn't end well for the person that hurts you."
Trev's expression is dark as he replies, "I'm well aware. What you were willing to do to the guy that stabbed me proved that."
I pout, "I still think you should have let me play a little more."
"Dude, the guy passed out from fear alone. He'd had enough." Trick points out with a dark smile.
"And he moved town immediately after," Riot adds.
"He's going to be in therapy for a really long time," Luc mutters.
Cash smirked, "I've been keeping tabs on him, just in case. He was vocal about where he was moving to, which was stupid on his part. Anyway, he's already in therapy and has successfully kept his mouth shut."
"Good," Trev replies. His expression lightens as he glances at Cash and me, "You guys may want to go and talk to Aurora's friends. You two may not care if you miss any of your lessons but they most likely will since they're still freshman, and you will terrify them if you pull them out of lessons."
"Shit," I reply, "I completely forgot what we were doing, I was too busy reminiscing about good times."
"Good times being when you tortured a guy?" Trick asks, sounding far too amused for the situation.
I nod and smile happily, "Yep."
"You scare me," Luc says with a wide grin.
I snicker, "No, I fucking don't; you're just as fucked up as I am; I just choose to wear my crazy proudly."
"I'll fucking say," Luc retorts but doesn't deny what I've said.
To be honest, that's why we're all so close; we're all a bit fucked up, which means we all understand each other, and no one judges anyone.
That's important.
Cash grabs my arm and pulls me away from the table before I can retort. "Come on, we're running out of time, and we don't need you to get into it right now."
"Spoilsport," I tease.
Cash just rolls his eyes as we both walk out of the cafeteria and make our way through our small school to the front, where Trev said the girls hung out. Sure enough, we see them as soon as we turn the corner, or at least I'm assuming it's them since they're the only girls by these lockers, and they all look sad; a couple of them look like they've been crying.
Of course, they notice us immediately, and I smile,, trying to appear less intimidating and more approachable; I don't think it works, though, because as soon as they realize that we're approaching them, they all start to look super nervous. The couple that we're sitting on the floor stand up and grab their bags, and they honestly look like they could bolt at any moment.
Cash holds up his hands, a boy next door smile on his face that immediately seems to put them at ease and makes me slightly jealous, if I'm being entirely honest with myself. Whatever the reason, it works, and they don't run away before we can talk to them.
