Chapter 9: Kali

KALI

G riffin's holding back, asking for permission, even if it sounds like a demand.

He tips my head back, using his hold on my braid to direct my movements, as he kisses up the front of my throat.

I shiver, sparks dancing across my skin wherever we touch. My head swims. Everything he does is magical.

"And what do I get?" I tease.

I have no idea where this brazen version of Kali is coming from. Despite not being liked in my hometown, I'm confident.

Men find me attractive, sure, but I have no experience with them other than a couple of brief fumbles with humans who know nothing of the beast inside me. In reality, I have no clue what I want or what I like.

Being with another shifter is all new to me.

But Griffin seems to know instinctively what I like as he squeezes my backside roughly, and then presses his hard length against my body. Rocking my hips to drag my needy core along it, he gives me pressure and friction in exactly the right spot. He swallows my whimper with a kiss that has my head spinning, his lips curling against mine in a cocky smile.

"Don't worry, Kali. I'll give you what you want."

His promise sends a thrill through me, and I believe every word.

Briefly, my mind flits to the missing women in Sutton. Who's to say this guy isn't the serial killer? Nobody knows what happened to them. Maybe they were seduced and killed. If that's the case, and this guy did it, I bet they died happy.

"Then do it," I whisper before biting his bottom lip.

He groans loudly, his control momentarily snapping, as he tugs my head back, rougher than before. The fire in his eyes is intoxicating.

I want it to consume me.

There's something thrilling about knowing I'm at Griffin's mercy, even though my beast is confident he has nothing but very good intentions. He could overpower me in a second if he wanted to. We're alone, isolated, and nobody knows we're together. He could do whatever he pleases. Take what he wants.

"Why does this feel so right?" he mumbles, his hands sliding underneath my top to brush against my bare skin. His touch burns my already heated body, and I whimper, desire sweeping through me like wildfire. There's no stopping what's happening here.

It's going to consume us both.

"Maybe our beasts know something we don't." I tease, my hand finding the bulge outside his trousers and gripping it, thrilled to find it's as substantial as the rest of him.

"What did you say?" He hisses, going deathly still.

The atmosphere shifts immediately, and I step back, hurt. Staring at him, totally confused.
